Would've been far better signing someone like Jordan Obita who was an injury risk but at least knows the league. He dropped down a league for three months but then got bought by Wycombe and is now starting games in the Championship.

He was a free agent and we were linked, hence the comparison.

This is a completely ridiculous signing, entirely in keeping with the way the club is being run I hear you say. He's only made 17 league appearances in five seasons and is barely a footballer.

Well, that's where you haven't factored something in. This chap has had two spells in the Championship, with Newcastle and Sheffield Wednesday, only making eight appearances so hardly seems a success, does he?

Oh and the player himself says he has nothing to prove in England after 13 appearances in just under 5 years. Sounds like a good egg.

 

Good luck to the guy but I'm not expecting much of the Moroccan Matthew Briggs.

 

It just makes your blood boil doesn't it. We are being woefully underinvested it. All the Pozzo's are interested in doing is making marquee signings they think will be worth something more in the transfer market and then just filling the other positions with also-rans so we are able to fill an XI on a Saturday.

No one will ever be able to convince me that the youth team left back could not be integrated in some measure into the side, allowing a growth in confidence to fill in when Masina is unavailable. Literally look at any other club, everyone else does it. The premier league is full of youth prospects these days. Granted they may be of higher calibre but doesn't mean ours are not good enough too for the level we play at. We are just a revolving door for cast offs that steal the room for any aspiring young footballer on our books, this is completely against what this club has always stood for and been about. This mug is going to have no connection with the club or desire to play for us and it will be reflected in his performances.

I don't care what they've done for us. Pozzo's out.

 

Who is his agent?

If this isn't some sort of favour to his agent, who will give us something in return in the summer, then it all comes across as pretty desperate.

Could he really be worse than Navarro?

Edit: just checked. His agent is Italian and has plenty of Italian Serie A players on his roster. Keep an eye out for one of them moving to Udinese or Watford next summer.

Maybe clutching at straws, but he was at Newcastle at the same time as Rob Eliot. They must have asked his opinion, surely?
