sorry, typo corrected - *Similarly, Gray wouldn't have cost us back then what he cost us this time around.
I get that but Nathan Ellington had two goalscorers in front of him and only made about 30 odd appearances only half of those were starts, we loaned him out to some club in Greece he arrived back and went on loan to Preston until his contract run out. Meanwhile Gray has been with us for 4 years and still has a while left on his contract yet we have had to pay all of his wages and have received no loan fees.
I think Manat has lost the argument when he is reduced to pleading that his man isn’t the worst signing ever, just second worst.
Incorrect. I was replying to some folk claiming he was the worst ever signing. Which he isn't. Where he is in the pecking order after has no bearing on what I have been saying. Which is that he isn't the worst ever signing.
Latest From the Rookery End is a deluded listen. They claimed he's playing well overall, just can't finish as he's lacking confidence. And one of them claimed that Gray was skilful and able to beat a man. Totally bizarre.
I don’t agree. For financial outlay and him being given numerous chances over 4 years he has been our worst signing and it isn’t close. Absolutely catastrophic signing. You disagree which is fine.
I usually listen to that but turned it off as soon as I heard that, there's no point listening to someone that deluded. I don't think any of us have ever seen Andre Gray beat a man, what the hell have they been watching?
Gray's yearly salary is roughly half of what we allegedly have outstanding to be paid to Rennes for Sarr. Again, not his fault but a catastrophic deal from the club and another reason why he is the worst signing ever in the history of this club.
Financial outlay isnt a sole solid base to say that a signing is the worst as monetary values changed through the decades and will continue to do so. He wasnt given what i would call 'numerous chances' in the PL due to Deeney's presence. Under Gracia he had his best spell with us. He and Delefeo, supporting Deeney, were the front 3 that all contributed to Watford's best top flight stint since Graham Taylor. Gray played and kept Delefeo on the bench for one of the most important games in Watford's history - the FA Cup semi final against Wolves. Would the worst ever signing keep a player of Delefeo's qualities on the bench? The answer is a simple one. No. Whilst i can understand the frustration of the current campaign form (I am feeling that myself) it doesnt tell the whole story of his time with us. I will continue to bring some reasonableness and reality where required to offset the hate for the player demonstrated by a few.
Thats a great pair of rose tints. He’s been ******* shocking since he walked through the door. There has been no purple patch of goals or assists, just the odd fluke off his shin or arse. 1 goal iA total and complete waste of money time and effort and the day can’t come soon enough that his contract is up and he ****s off never to be seen again. You point to his best season.. he scored 7. 7! Pedro is one off of matching that at 19 over half a season where he keeps getting dropped.
Incorrect. I have stated on more than one occasion that i would prefer him not to be at the club going forward.
Was is Nathan Ellington who had a relative on here? Stuck up for him and then disappeared once we got rid of the useless turd? Gray is the worst signing since the Pozzo's took over, and for some fans, the worst signing since they've supported the club.
All being well i wont be disappearing when Gray is gone as i want him gone going forward. And Gray isnt the worst signing since the Pozzos took over, or ever.
No of course it isn't. He's also an absolutely atrocious footballer who can't control, pass, head or generally kick a football. I'm not even sure he can run properly.
That's a shame Oulare is probably a worthy opponent during the Pozzo era - don't think we ever recouped that 6 or so million. Most others, despite how bad they were, we were able to move on and get them off the wage bill.
How little do you know. LouOrns told us all that we actually made a profit on Oulare by repeatedly loaning him out to potless clubs in small leagues. Of course, back in the real world, Oulare was an absolute stinker. Bruges fans were laughing their heads off when we signed him because of his chronic injury problems. But then we doubled down on the mistake by also binning off two fan favourites in Vydra and Forestieri so he could be in the squad. He was genuinely terrible, awful technique, barely looked like a footballer. We signed him in 15/16 and he's managed 12 goals in five and a half seasons since then! He's my number 1 worst signing in the Pozzo era.
One of the problems with the Prem for smaller clubs is that any mistakes you make in the transfer market are quite likely to be expensive ones. Chelski or City can effortlessly recover from an expensive flop, but for clubs outside of the "big 6" (or 7 if you include Everton) who are permanently at risk of relegation, it can be crippling.
That's a good one, according to wiki he cost 12.5 mill! Although it was from Granada so I guess that money was just the Pozzo's doing Pozzo things. Hard evidence, can't argue with that. 1. Ourlare 2. Gray 3. Success
Some people think Gray is a good striker. Some think that Boris Johnson is 'doing a good job under the circumstances'. People have these utterly bizarre thought processes. No point in trying to work it out.
