Even if that were true (and it easily could be IMO), does Gino not want promotion? Surely even he can see it's not going to happen with Grey up front. The cost of us not going up makes Grey's wages look like chicken feed.
I am as frustrated as any fan about tonight’s result, but just wanted to say something positive and it relates to Hive Live. I think it is absolutely brilliant. It is a game changer for those fans living outside England and clearly a massive boost for more local fans, during the severe restrictions. I can only hope that the service continues for overseas fans after the lockdown finishes. I don’t always watch the pre game stuff, in fact rarely watch would be more accurate, but that can be a bit of fun when former players turn up for a chat and to reminisce (does make me realise how old I am getting though). Anyway, that’s enough positivity for now. Hopefully it lifted the Gray cloud for a bit.
At least Deeney offers something 50% of the time. Its the dedication to playing another absolute dud of a striker every other game which will cost us more.
At least HMS PTL could moor up on the actual pitch tonight , which will be a nice holiday experience for the cruise ship COGGERs. That’s if the ship is not up on bricks after being moored on The Old Kent Road for the afternoon.
My comment wasn’t even necessarily about Millwall in particular, it could just as easily have been Rotherham or Birmingham or Wycombe tonight. When you rock up to these dull midweek evening games in an empty stadium against opposition who are clearly crap, on a poor run of form and low on confidence, you simply have to grind out the wins Exactly the sort of games where a superior squad should just go out there with a certain degree of arrogance and bully their way to a win. We were really good at this in the season Joka got us up (think Wigan away etc.)
We utter, utter garbage and an affront to football as anyone with half a brain knows. Possible the worst Watford team in my 3 years of supporting the ‘Hornets’. The table says we have now moved up into the automatic places, but it LIES. We will come 14th as everyone knows.
My post wasn’t a defence of Deeney. But again, penalties are worth as much as a goal from open play, you know this as you’ve been told before. Each one is 1 goal, no more no less. Deeney doesn’t score anywhere near enough from open play - but my point was he offers something at some points. That’s far more than Gray who offers nothing at any point. So if either of them are ‘shagging Gino’ to prevent a new striker taking their place, it ain’t Deeney...
JP has made 4 appearances in the past 9 games, two of which were for less than 30 minutes, and all coming in the most recent 4 fixtures (including tonight). We have a week until the next game. I don't see where you're drawing that conclusion from.
No way Gray is shagging Gino, not with the punani he's packing en la casa. Do you understand that if we get a penalty when Deeney isn't playing another player can take it????? Its not like if Deeney doesnt take the penalty we can't score.
Not really. Deeney is just lucky that he is the penalty taker. If he wasn't his goalscoring record this season is not good at all. Playing deeper due to not being able to run, and laying it off to someone who can isn't enough of a contribution for a striker really.
Remember when the club and Xisco went out of their way to inform us he was an attacking coach? More Gino-led nonsense.
I’ve been a Golden Horn Fan for 6 years now and in all my years , spent not watching the games , I’ve never seen such a woeful performance from a complete travesty of a non football club . Why can’t anyone see that if we don’t score goals we won’t win games. GT would be ashamed . If we don’t start winning every game I don’t see why I should have to fork out for the game when I could just come on here and complain for free .
Really poor from Xisco today I am afraid. Conscious he may not seen Gray as much as us but he should have seen enough. There was 0% chance of Gray scoring today so it gives their defence confidence. We basically played with 10 men for 60 mins. Got to give Xisco space and his results ok but he appears prone to making some very basic mistakes
Yes, but all of our rivals (Norwich aside) are just as capable of a slip up like this tonight. Most other Championship seasons I'd agree with you but I honestly think we can get away with a few **** ups like this and still be well in contention for top 2
I'm saying I have no idea where you got the idea that JP was only not played tonight 'to give him a breather' and, as ever, the evidence does not back up your assertion. But then you already knew that.
Lovely to see the two comic geniuses teaming up. This is your Cannon and Ball moment Little Ross To be fair though you do occasionally post something funny as opposed to your new partner.
You do have to wonder how bad Gray has to get before pundits stop calling him ''a top forward in this league'' what is it now 1 goal in 29 performances? Best strike force in the division! Surely the likes of Dalby deserve a chance instead. It actually feels like we have 10 men with him on the pitch, guys ******* useless.
I think if we 'slipped up' whilst looking decent a few times a season, fair enough. But we look incapable, more often than not, of being able to break down defensive teams away from home. If we can't fix that ratio, we won't make Top 2.
Personally, I think trying to infer anything about adults' personal and private relationships from the club's activity in the January window is just speculative.
Agree with all of this. The choice is his. I think we are a poacher away from having a real shout at top 2. Surely he can see that. Take a calculated risk and get someone in.
You don't have any evidence that I am incorrect either, unless you were there speaking to the manager during the team selection process. Its a reasonable assumption that I had made, and hopefully as the matches become less congested you will see Deeney and Pedro play alongside each other more often which will thus prove that my reasonable assumption was indeed correct.
We've looked decent a few times this season, but nowhere near enough. But if we're able to draw games like this AND keep being so incredibly consistent at home, then we'll be there or thereabouts. We're in January and I can think of less than 5 truly impressive performances we've had, but I also can't think of more than 3 where we've truly deserved to lose. Odd season.
Yep, goals win games and if you don't score, the best you can hope for is a draw. I thought Hughes was much better in the second half when he played more in the middle. I would like to see Zinckernagel given a run in the side. OK he has not set the world alight but he is neat and positive. He gives it and looks for the return. Once the other players learn how to play with him I think our attacking play will improve. Obviously, need a goalscorer though, maybe Kabs a go when he's fit, didn't he start out as a striker? The CB pairing looks solid at the moment so he won't find it easy to get back in there. What's to lose?
