I was at that 6-1 thumping. It was 4-1 at HT and we played some great stuff that day. This time will be quite different, but after Stoke and winning three in a row, can we really go for broke and eek out another win? I said 4pts from Stoke and this lot would be a good return, but realistically with Swansea in such good form, we need to win. Deeney needs to start a game better, in fact they all do. If Millwall score first we might fall to bits, so getting ahead early and not sitting back will help. Nothing I have seen of them impressed me so far, but Xisco could be talk of the town if we pull of another away win. 1-0
Starting the game better is absolutely key. I was despairing of the attitude in the first 20 minutes at Stoke. Watford’s play was so slow and they completely handed the initiative to the home team. Fortunately they weren’t able to take advantage but if we had gone 1-0 down in that period I think we would really have struggled to turn it round. Most teams in this division are not as good as us and the players should go out with that mindset and look to dominate from the start, especially away from home.
Millwall produced one of the worst free kicks I've ever seen yesterday. Ferguson tried to get a city player carded for preventing a quick set piece. He attempted to just knock into the cities players legs but missed and it bobbled through to the keeper. Instant toss out and City had them on the break. It was that **** the camera man missed it originally so had to find another camera angle to replay it.
Based on nothing at all I'm absolutely certain that this'll be the game where I recoup some of the losses I've incurred by betting on Andre Gray to score a hatrick every week for the past 4 years. Millwall 0 Watford 3 (Grey 3)
On the plus side, the odds are so great it only has to happen once for you to end up squarely in profit.
Prediction: Millwall 0-1 Watford. Zinc to net his first goal. Gray to be offside for 20 times. Blonde Millwall fan to point menacingly at his TV screen, then do his hair into a Helen Shapiro style.
Need to go all out to win ,need to keep our moment going. if we play like most of the Stoke match we will struggle, if we play like the good 15mins in the Stoke match we win. Millwall 1 Watford 2 (Deeney and JP to score) ref to have a shocker
I must say their forum is a tremendous read. Their language makes Cameron "Crocodile Man" appear like Brian Sewell. Judging by one thread they don't seem to like Rowett very much.
This is an excellent idea and a good way of utilising his first touch as it will look like he's just clearing the ball.
Wouldn't be surprised if there was some rotation due to 4th game in a short space of time. If fit Ngakia, Sema. Gray, and PZ for consideration by Xisco.
I would hedge that way too. Looking forward to seeing Zinckernagel get 90+ minutes. Would be very difficult to drop Kiko atm.
This is certainly a banana skin fixture for us. Lots of omens that I don't like leading up to this game. We've won 3 on the spin, Millwall have only won once at home all season (against Luton ), plus they seem to have put a lot of focus on this match, throwing away the FA Cup at the weekend with a weakened team. We have to be at our best to win this. If we let a little bit of complacency or arrogance creep in, then they'll do us for sure. Of course we should win this. Millwall sit 16th in the table and look like no threat at all. But they've picked up a couple of good results from their last 3 league games. A point a Bournemouth and a win at Huddersfield. They don't tend to score too many. 1 or 0 is there usual output. If we can nick a goal (which until Friday seemed impossible in an away game), then we should be in a good place to pick up at least a point, if not all three.
The players have just got to go out and play at a high tempo. Move the ball around accurately and move off it, press high and blow them away. The pitch is in poor condition at The New Den but that should not be seen as any excuse for us not rolling the ball about at speed. It's what this team does best as we have the players capable of utilizing it. Ideally put the game to bed by half time and rotate in some players. Some players like Sarr have been playing almost non stop for a lengthy period of time. They could ease off training a little I suspect and work on situational play.
Poor pitch. I'd like to see a bit of hoofball tomorrow night. Sierralta is great in the air, get him up there with Troy and let Wilmot launch his lovely long balls forward. Grow up.
