A win tonight will see us go 9 points clear of Barnsley with just over half the season gone. I'm sure most Watford fans would have taken that back in August.
Absolutely. A big difference between Watford and the best teams is our lack of attempting the incisive low forward pass, defence to midfield or midfield to attack, in favour of the safe sideways one. This has the effect of constantly slowing down the play. It was the case when we were in the PL and it’s still the case now.
I know they say take one game at a time, but if we still have serious designs on finishing in the top two it is simply a MUST that we look past this game to the more difficult away game at Stoke on Friday. We're at home and it's only 'Barnsly' a team most of us have probably never heard of. We are certain to win as we are a much bigger club. Prediction Watford U23s 4-0 Barnsly
We've got a radio star, a social media influencer, a pop star's wife and a 40m winger. What have they got? Jan Aage Fjortoft?
They've still got 54yr old Fjortoft? Another tough night for us wetters. 0-3 Hope Gray starts because we are reliably informed we can't call him crap if he only comes off the bench and stinks the place out. Must be something about those dug-outs that makes him unable to control a football, lose all range for the goal and just jog around the place looking lost...
Deeney starts tonight (obviously) for a nice bit of hoofball. No chance we deal with Barnsley's intensity so it'll be panicked hoofs up to the league's greatest target man. Which I'm assuming is Xisco's gameplan anyway seeing as he did that against Huddersfield U16s on Saturday.
Expect Xisco to shuffle the pack a bit tonight given his comments on Barnsley's intensity. Troost-Ekong was awful on the ball at the weekend, even though he defended ok so wonder whether Wilmot might come in as he seems to have been bringing the ball forward better more recently. I reckon Zinckernagel and Hughes might start too as both might be seen as more capable of progressing the ball when under pressure. I reckon he'll go for... Bachmann Kiko Wilmot Sierralta Masina Sarr Chalobah Hughes Zinckernagel Deeney Gray
Wind will be blowing the ball all over the pitch tonight. Will be a complete lottery. Likely score 5-13-18-35-39-46. Unlucky number #9.
JP played quite a few games as a lone striker for Fluminense in a 4231 at the age of 17, carrying an injury and that was before he bulked up. Personally I think 4231 might work better with Perica or Success and then Sema JP Zinky and Sarr being rotated in the 3. Id like to see JP given a chance up top though!
One of my favourite players never to play for us. Got about 8 teams promoted. Gray, yeah, it's bizarre how despite his consistently brilliant performances when he starts, idiotic managers keep on putting him on the bench!
Give AG a break . He may not be able to hit a barn door or trap a bag of cement. But he can run those channels like Billy-o !
I've got 6 hours left of my Facebook ban. They don't like it up 'em on Facebook, just like on here. They just can't handle us hun xoxo
I probably won't bother to log in after the match this evening, so here's my post-match observations now. Deeney is fat and can't run. He contributes nothing. Why do we still play him? Grey is the worst player I've ever seen. He's a disgrace on and off the pitch. It makes me puke when I think how much these two are paid. If we're going to get promoted we need to buy a decent striker NOW!! What a joke of an appointment Xisco was. Get out of our club Pozzo. That said, a win's a win. We'll probably get pumped by Stoke on Friday though
Hahahahhaha Gray and Deeney. Barnsley are either really, really bad and we are playing our reserves, or our manager is clueless.
The consensus on Watford media I listened to has suggested that it would make sense to include Wilmot's ability to look after and bring out the ball from the back against this aggressive Barnsley side, so, of course, he's dropped again for the same Troost-Ekong who blootered out about 17 passes and/or long balls in the course of the game against Huddersfield's u-23s on Saturday. Not even going to comment on the c unt parade upfront; what's the point. And no Zinck - of course - but don't worry, that's why he barely played at Huddersfield - he was being rested for this game! It was all worth it in the end.
