Unfortunately that also seems to be the attitude of the manager and the players almost every week.

He wasn't. They've just showed it again and he's onside.

Fair enough. We still rode our luck more than a little today and then, against ten men, bossed possession with little to show for it.

Put to the sword by AFC Cheat. Will be a good marker for us. But expect more of the same Ivic drivel from the start. Slow tempo, misplaced passes, pitiful pressing and awful set pieces. Then a brief period where we look like a football team. I am losing patience with Ivic fast. It's a very decent squad one that other managers would get a decent tune out of I suspect. All we are is spluttering along.

Also want to say, I will never complain again about Mooney’s analyst work for as long as Don Goodman works for Sky.

He couldn’t have been more hard for Brentford or Toney if he’d run on the pitch and slung one up him there and then in the penalty box.

How the **** can we play so differently in 2 half’s

interesting Ivic put on three strikers at the end (ok 2 and Gray)

Deeney played well in first half, was all over the pitch, don’t think there was much else he could have done, the problem seemed to be our midfield not being able to pass, why does it it take a rocket up the arse at half time for them to get a grip and there mustt be somebody other than challobah who could start.

2nd half looked dangerous , lucky Sarr got the penalty he would never have scored from that angle , good to see us having a go from all other the pitch , but cleverly hit a couple of terrible shots.

Ivic, for the love of god start Perica , he has proved several times that he understands the need to be in the box when the ball comes in.

Our fans would forgive this **** of a manager and this **** of a side anything.

We are on a slide. Luck is arresting our descent, no doubt, but our performances are consistently poor, our football is dire and unforgivably negative and we are losing touch with automatic promotion.

We have the most expensive players in the league and they are shown up as average, time and time again in this horrific 'system' if you can call it that.

We are not going up. I am certain of that. This side is not good enough to assert itself as one of the best 3 sides in this poor, poor league.

The fact that Perica still doesn't start, and Deeney does, is the biggest and solely-required indictment of Ivic that exists. If he doesn't start the next game, we know his hands are tied/he's brain-damaged.

Ah okay, that makes sense NathWFC, thanks for correcting me.
    • So let us call hitting the post a 1 goal.
    • Let us make the free header another goal
    • Let us call the other two half chances 1 goal
So assuming all those chances went in they get 3, and then we can add another one in there for good luck. I'm discounting the Sarr good chance on around 15 mins too as that was freak.

I'm actually happy we weren't 5-0 down at half time. Thanks for pointing out the facts to me.

NB I included both on and off target shots in my comment as I know just on target attempts can be misleading.

Capoue did well. But I'm wondering if he's the right player in the wrong league. That game needed bustle and snap. In fact the one thing Ivic can do to improve us would be fine the players for taking more than 2 touches.

They should both start the next game, if he starts with 1 up top again on Saturday I give up.

Are you OK? If you think we were anything other than appalling in the first half and lucky not to go in a good few behind as Brentford completely outplayed us and spurned good chances then you need your head checked.

Brentford being comfortably the better side, dominating in every area and missing multiple good chances whilst we do absolutely **** all for 45 minutes = us being lucky to not be going in at half time on the end of a pasting. It's not rocket science.

It’s beyond a joke Deeney actually gets credit from some for holding the ball up about 10 yards from the box. Perica operates in and around the 6 yard box, precisely where we need our striker to be.

10 men hindered us. We started wanting possession and time on the ball instead of getting at them.

Dreadful set of officials today, I mean really really bad.

Ivic never looked like he was willing to go for it even against ten me. Ages to bring on Perica , and then bought on Gray with about four minutes to go. I honestly think he is so concerned about losing that he won't push for a win.

To be fair Brentford could barely get out of their half before the red card.

Perica is perfectly possibly capable of actually playing as a lone striker - not everyone is afflicted with the Deeney disease, and we can hardly say we have the answer either way from what we've seen so far. Deeney has had one competent performance since he reintegrated - the game against Preston, and he's been living off that and his reputation as the Godfather amongst lower league pundits and presenters since.

It's reassuring to see that the officials in this division are as inept,if not worse than elsewhere.
SGT lino was absolutely useless, culminating with the disallowed Lord Percy goal.
Capoue looked better. I think he has to play.
We simply have too little athleticism in our team,Brentford exposed this and most of their team had it. TC does at least get about,NC,for all his good defensive shielding is too ponderous. He would be more suited to Serie A.
About time a slot was found for Lord Percy. He clearly knows where the goal is.
I get the feeling Ivic is one bad result away from the boot.
Can we please start with that tempo on Saturday?
Not too much to expect is it?

Dunno why Garner is getting stick. Chalobah and Cleverly are slowboats next to him.

Meh, I'll take a draw considering how poor we were. That first half was horrific.

Hugely irritating that we didn't capitalise on our advantage. Hopeless as the officials were, the fact we couldn't break down 10 men (10 men who were very willing to start attacking in numbers, no less!), is very concerning and ultimately says a lot about us as a team.

I feel that on most occasions, it's pointless to blame everything on the manager (God knows our players are *****), but at the same time, our aimless sideways passing and reluctance to move the ball quickly has to be something that has filtered down from Ivic. Possibly a lack of confidence, but again, surely a lot of that is down to him.

I really struggle to believe that another manager couldn't do better with the players he has at his disposal. Not to mention his ridiculous line ups and subs - 3 centre forwards on at the same time smacks of desperation. A midfield trio without Capoue smacks of incompetence. And 2 keepers on the bench smacks of just being a **** for the hell of it.

We will not get promoted with this man in charge.

I'd honestly love to hear the reason why Deeney should continue to start? Is it because he scores penalties? Because he does absolutely f**k all else.

Capoue with Chalobah, Cleverley or Garner doesn't really work, as there isn't really a classic creative midfielder out of them, Capoue does a good job of breaking play up and spraying long balls, but we're really missing Hughes. We get the Covid 2 next to each other in midfield and things are looking rosier

I'm fine NathWFC. Have I once said we played well in the first half? We were clearly very poor. I'm just pointing out your comment we should have been 4-0 down is wrong.

He does nothing. Cleverley is energetic, gets on the the of stuff in the box (even if end product isn't great). Chalobah is a liability on the ball but breaks play up. Garner does nothing. His right foot airshot in the second half almost cost us a penalty as Chalobah tried to recover it. Then he did a left foot one later that half when Sema pulled it back to him.

Bit of a weird thing to obsess over. We were clearly awful, we clearly could have been well behind at half time, so it's strange to be arguing it as if it's ridiculous when it's clearly not.

Quite how far behind we could have been and we lucky not to be is obviously slightly subjective and a bit of a pointless thing to get hung up on.

Not saying we're getting promoted, but would anyone else get more out of this team? We have a team of players who stylistically are more suited to the Premier League (without being good enough), but don't have the guile to open defences, some OK strikers, above average defenders and 1 or two absolute stars, but is that enough to go up?

I disagree they did nothing with 10 men except kick the ball long to Toney. I thought they were a bang average team with a good centre forward.

I was saying this to my brother post-game, I just can't work it out.

I just can't believe that the pozzos are really ordering it, as they must see him on the pitch and be wanting to protect their investment and get their team playing well, but then it cannot humanly possibly be the managers watching him and deciding he's the best player for the role. It's like it's a front for some kind of long-term CIA operation or something.

Capoue wouldn't necessarily be the answer. He is basically a defensive midfielder. We don't have a Doucoure type of midfielder in our squad yet that I am aware of. The person in midfield to unlock defences or score goals.

Yes but it's just a pathetically negative tactic to do wt this level. Playing one upfront against Birmingham on Saturday was a pisstake as it will be doing it against Huddersfield.

Look Nath, we’re not naive we can see the issues but I actually fear for you a bit and this downwards spiral of despair you seem to have got in about the club. I too at times feel rage about things going on but you need to put it in perspective. It’s not the be all and end all. People have short memories, some of the football served up in the mid 90’s and 2000’s was also absolute turd like we are seeing now. Just the swings and roundabouts of Watford. Not much we can do except vent on here, but sometimes you just have to take a step back and say ‘we’re absolute turd, c’est la vie’. Unfortunately unless we all band together and buy the club as fans it will always be like this, and even then if the fans brought the club you’d probably still soil your sheets about something!
