A very cool and very sensible response, for sure. Don't worry, we'll try to keep noticing things that are happening in front of our eyes to a minimum in future, to avoid upsetting you.

And after several poor, negative and inflexible performances is it not fair to be questioning the future of the manager ? The fact we won convincingly for the first time this season today, rather than more boring bland non-winning fare, buys him a little slack. Let’s see what he does next.

In my defence I have maintained my position all season and said we need patience. I know some games have been **** but I just saw no point in changing manager. It would not have achieved anything imo.

I'm not saying it's going to work out either, but we need some consistency. I really hope today was a turning point. We are 3rd which is a great platform to start from if it is.

No , you didn't like it when any member on here criticised the team, manager and tactics.
The football before today was awful, slow and the players looked disinterested in playing to Ivic's stybborn style.
Everyone knew that players would be sold to ease the huge financial debt Watford are under. Some players didn't want to play in the Championship at the beginning of the season. Deeney and Capoue to name two.
Ivic has till Christmas IMO to get right or show that he can change his tactics.
This is one game where we have looked good and played as a team. The jury is still out.
    Time will tell.

I've also maintained my position, that our owners are **** bags and I want them gone, but also that Ivic is the most unlikeable manager we've had since Bassett, so I want him gone too. Also half of our playing squad are detestable also and i wish they'd piss off as well.

But today was a nice day.

The same posters who have consistently shouted “Pozzos out” “Giraldi out” “Players out” all year now all of a sudden think the blame lies with the manager. Comical.

Didn't see the game but watched the highlights on EFL on Quest, and I think Femenia deserves a mention at least for his part in the first goal, which shows that when contributing in an attacking sense, it's more than just assists and goals.

OK Femenia hasn't made many assists and obviously the defensive side of his game has to be questioned even at this level, but it was his shot that worried the Preston defence when it rebounded off the keeper, leading to the attack on the right that lead to the goal.

Is it possibly because we played great, looked threatening and it gives people encouragement for the future? Really not sure what your point is. If we turn in a duff one do people say “Harrow Orn has been quiet. Funny that”.

    Seems a bit childish.

18 months of chaos, a relegation, financial woes and dysfunctional management. But hey, give Preston a stuffing and you can take the piss out of all the “idiots”. Genius.

I for one am very pleased with today’s performance. If getting grief from the likes of you means we beat Forest I’ll gladly take it!

You can have a good manager with poor owners. You can have a poor manager with poor owners.

We know the owners so it’s just a case of establishing what Ivic is. Today’s game gives some hope he has turned the corner and can build from here.

People weren't calling for Ivic to be sacked off the back of just that game though were they?

I couldn't care less about all this bedwetters vs clappers nonsense really - it was a good laugh to start with but it's a bit tedious now really!

What is strange though is that those of a more negative disposition about things tend to discuss it amongst themselves, and although it does occasionally happen, it doesn't really spill out into them calling out 'clappers' after a poor game. Instead the more negative individuals just moan/criticise and the more positive posters take exception to it and argument/heated debates start.

However! When games like today happen, the more positive amongst us seemingly can't wait to come out and lord it over the others believing somehow that others want the club to lose! Its quite bizarre really. No one here wants the club to lose and everyone wants the best for it - we all just have differing opinions on what that looks like.

I really can't understand the point of coming on here after a load of post-game positivity and claiming some sort of 'gotcha' moment that doesn't exist.

And after one good performance, you are claiming victory. Dodgy foundations m8.

Then again, you're probably one of those who celebrated survival after the Newcastle game.

Well that was Much More Like It. Really encouraging performance today, first half still quite conservative, but glad to see us turn it on in the second half and put some good moves together. Will hopefully give us confidence going into the next few games.

Clearly 3 at the back has to be dead in the water. Femenia is by no means a great option at LB, but he will certainly suffice for now if that's our best option, albeit it concerns me that its taken Ivic this long to work it out.

Must give credit to Deeney, I'd totally written him off, but a great performance today. Quina as well looking better and better. Good signs from Garner and Sarr also.

Onwards and upwards! (Maybe, possibly, perhaps, dunno really)

  30. Considering Femenia isn't on his natural side, and he looked at times uncomfortable with it, he stood out for me today because he didn't use it as an excuse to hide but was always positive.

Good to see we can argue just as hard amongst ourselves; after an emphatic win, that's the top quality you want to see from any forum looking for promotion to the big league.

4-1 and play the best football that we have played all season and the majority of posts on The Matchday thread are not about the game.

Much better performance today, hopefully a turning point but that remains to be seen. 4 games now before a tougher test of the season against Brentford.

    Forest
    Cardiff
    Rotherham
    Brum

Expectation of 9-12 points there as Ivic keeps talking of “serious intentions”. Let’s hope we’re moving in the right direction.

Side note - I want Troy to perform like he did today despite not being his biggest supporter over the last few years. If this is his level to perform like that consistently, excellent and I hope he has another 20+ displays like that this season. Very well played today.
