My mum got rushed into Hillingdon Hospital this morning as she was unwell. After a day of xrays and swabs they sent her home. I would say today has turned out pretty feckin tastic
Well I though it was entertaining , 3 goals , at least 2 bad defensive errors , an excellent header by Coventry. Yeah we are having a few issues, either defence is rock solid or we are scoring goals and defence is dodgy, but we are 2nd and only 1 point off first. There isn’t a team in the world which is going to win every week , never loose a goal and never make mistakes and how much fun would that be anyway. Sema has real skill , the way he runs past defenders is so good to see, Sarr is so quick he is frightening, if Deeney and Gray perform we are unbeatable up top and will scare most sides. Was glad to see we kept Capoue and he is capable of class passes, but wish he wouldn’t go back so much and would sometime think before he passes. Midfield looks better with Hughes in it. I like both Ngakia and Kiko , both offer different options but think Ngakia should probably start more than he is at the moment.
There have been some spectacular own goal posts on this forum in its time, but this particular incident has to be one of the greatest. Top work.
Not entirely sure of that comparison. Up to this point I can see what you’re saying as the results mask the performances but the difference in squad quality is night and day. Also Boothroyd, despite admitting the need to adapt from the long ball football which failed in the Prem, pretty much made no attempt to do so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The boothroyd squad was gash though on paper, ours is tremendous in all areas at this level, yes even at CB and LB when masina is back. I think it's more likely we'll start thrashing teams 3 or 4 or 5 nil every week than we'll fade away. In other news, both teams to score and watford to win is FREE MONEY this season, though I bottled the bet again today FFS
Entertaining game today and we looked a little better going forwards I thought. We are still crying out for 3 up top with Sarr and JP/Ken either side of a proper centre forward however Ivic for once also made the right subs at the right time IMO. Deeney looks surprisingly lean, could turn out to be an asset this season On the negatives, defence was ******* **** AGAIN and Andre vindicated the bedwetter's by showing that he hasn't suddenly turned into a player who can control a football by dropping a division
Losing AJ was the real killer in that Boothroyd season, but maybe it’s my memory playing tricks but I kind of see now as the opposite of that season. I seem to remember us looking pretty good before the wheels eventually did come off.
don’t think it’s like that season at all . I don t think we had the same quality . Adam Johnson was carrying us I seem to remember and when he went back we had no creativity . This season I think we’re winning matches because we have a bit of quality but not playing great as a team consistently
Genuine question, if Gray scored 15 crap scruffy goals like today's, this season and failed to control a football 75% of the time, would you be happy?
Yes. But his technical ability is dreadful for a professional footballer. I would rather we had Gray's pace, but pick a pass to a good finisher like Perica or even Captain Marvel.
Just going to pop my COG hat firmly on but it was his first start in a long, long time, he scored a goal and yes, missed some sitters but the time to really lay into him is if he’s still missing them in 5/10 games time.
Any descent striker should be getting 10-15 a year, a decent striker with Sarr on one side and Sema on the other should be 20+ if Gray starts the majority of games left and only manages 15 I would be a bit disappointed , if he scored 20+ I wouldn’t mind how crap they were
You can find out this Wednesday on the Cycling GK! You can also win a pair of signed shorts worn by Craig Cathcart!
Yet we are second we have been pretty awful by premier league standards. But we aren’t there any more. I wonder if many people think we still are
On the seafood scale, exactly how tight is a crab's arse? I imagine that a squid's sphincter might be somewhat pliable by comparison? Asking for a friend.
Absolutely not. We were top and people who weren't watching us were saying we"re going straight up, but we were bl**y awful and winning games by pure luck, much as we are now. To many of us it was obvious the league position was fake. As someone said earlier, this season could go either way but a good beating by a decent team will ruin us.
Well I enjoyed that...and we're second... and Ivic has 2 weeks to iron out the flaws in this side. All in all a positive position to be in.
IMO that was more because of Boothroyd's refusal to change his turgid long-ball football that we tried to play in the Premier League but got embarrassingly found out. By the time he changed it, it was too late. This is a different situation, and this time around our squad is 10x better
I'm not a big fan of Gray but his technical ability is not that bad, it's just not good enough for the PL. It's his first start and it took Capoue three games to look like his level today so I will give Gray the benefit. He's scored goals in this division before so it's reasonable to think he will again.
Who are the decent teams though? There is only one team above us, the rest have less points across 11 games, so what’s their excuse?
Honestly, no I think any of Deeney, JP or Perica (maybe even Murray) would hit 15 goals playing up top for this side and at least when they play I don't have to watch someone on £70k a week who has the first touch of a sunday league player + who appeared on hornets hive a month ago practically supporting Luton in a game against us
Was decent actually. Feedback during the week was taken on board and a lot more people talking about the game. 15 mins at HT was there for people to let out steam - and yes, it was a little negative at that point as what would anyone expect? We looked ponderous against Coventry City at that point. The game restarted and everyone was positive enough and celebrated the goals and criticised the defending. Hard to argue really. Carry on.
