I remember going to The Ricoh,my brother eating almost all of the last balti pie and losing 5-1 and missing our goal.
    Happy times.

0-1 but 72% possession and 37 crosses into an empty pen area, so a moral victory in anyone's book.

Ahhh... Brandon Mason. He did a tackle once and that was enough for some to think he was ready for the first team.

See also: Dion Pereira (put one cross in), Toby Stephenson (put two crosses in), Dan Phillips (errmmm... fouled people?).

Having said that, would be nice to have an academy product that could actually get in the team and contribute something, particularly as we've gone down a level.

Godden went off injured last match.

But we lost to Barnsley with no Cauley Woodrow so bit of a moot point.

Probably the last game where we can use the "they aren't fully fit" excuse. Everyone is back now apart from the long termers.

I like Coventry. In my first ever Panini sticker pack I got Steve Ogrizovic. What a handsome chap.

I live around Coventry so I do have a soft spot for them, I tend to watch all of their games when they don't clash with Watford as the local shows them all. To be honest I think they are a poor side and will struggle to stay above the bottom three this season unfortunately. They played good passing football in league one but at times it hasn't worked this season because they have been pressed more, Cov also concede quite a lot of goals and have the worst defensive record in the league. They also have one or two injuries and a weakish squad for this level which will potentially make rotation difficult for them.

I may be being hopeful and optimistic but there seemed to be a togetherness on Wednesday night and we did look by a long way the best team on the pitch against Stoke who are not a bad side. We have a few key players who should be involved now and it looks like we may have the real Sarr back now. We should have too much for these if we are on it especially at The Vic.

I saw Ogrizovic when we last played them at Highfield Road. Absolutely huge bloke with hands like shovels and his nose is even weirder in real life.

Same lineup and formation from Ivic?
    CHECK

Same slow start away from home?
    CHECK

Same ideology of needing a wonder goal from our wingers?
    CHECK

Another game without playing a striker till deep into the second half?
    CHECK

Uncheck any of those, you can probably modify any gameplan. Our away form as pointed out by @Malteser2 is bruising awful. Would a draw be a good result? Going into the IB right after we need to win to keep tabs on Reading.

    1-1

If we only need to uncheck one of them for a better game plan then we've cracked it. It's a home game.

We've never lost 5-1 at the Ricoh Arena, or Highfield Road for that matter - unless you go back to 1927 and I don't think they did balti pies then!

I went to the League Cup QF replay at Highfield Road in 1980 - traffic and parking were terrible and we arrived 15 min after ko with us 0-3 down. Lost 0-5 eventually.

I'm pretty sure we lost 4-0 at Highfield Road in the Premiership in 99/00. We also won 4-0 at the Ricoh in our final game under Boothroyd before our promotion season the following season.

This was my being a mascot fixture way way back in '85 i think. Main memories of the day, GT spending time chatting to my dad and I pre game, meeting the players in the changing room (stil have an autograph book full of their signatures from the day). Neil Smilie being assigned to look after my in the warmup, me falling over on the pitch during the warmup :( , hearing that we'd scored while I was getting changed right after kick off, my sister being upset there was a 2nd half! We won 3-0 that day, lets have the same again please.

    Dyche /Mackay I think ?

We lost 3-1 when Young was hacked by Page and the lights went out.

Also won from 2 down under Rodgers I think.

We were crammed into an insufficient sized pen with coppers all along the top level of terracing consistently pushing people back into the mass of the crowd resulting in some quite unpleasant situations. The mood deteriorated as we continued to ship goals. I recognized a good few Holywell & Hertfordshire Arms near us & thought things could get nasty, which they certainly did in the 2nd half. Not the greatest away day.
There’d already been trouble in pubs before the game as a group of Cov had smashed up the Red Lion before the home leg. The landlord (Johnny Weldon) had let them in after telling them he trusted them as he hailed from Coventry himself, so there was revenge on the minds of a couple of minibus loads of Watford.
Unbelievable how different things were back then.

I was meant to go to Coventry Uni in 95 to study for a Degree in Computing and English Language. It was essentially data building online. I chose a manager career with Sainsburys instead as it was easy cash at the time. I'm convinced that anyone that did that Degree is now fabulously rich and retired through a life in coding and web design while I'm fabulously fat and ******** through a life in curry and watford forums.

    Life eh......

    2 nil Watford

  23. Coventry try and play football which will suit us, and Sarr has found his shooting boots I think we’ll run out comfortable victors. 2-0.

Early Cov goal means dispair on the Shoutbox and the usual vitriol. Comeback from Watford to make it 1-2, we then concede a late equaliser from plucky Cov. Cue Ivic out posts.

Coventry AKA. Dont like beating them as they re synonymous with The Specials, but business is business.

4-0 win to send us second, 1 point behind Reading who lose their third game on the trot.

COGs go into international break happy and busy dreaming about unicorns, rainbows and other fluffy images we conjure up to distance ourselves from the soul grinding banality and futility of daily existence.

Brandon has done very well at the Sky Blues. That Callum O'Hare will need watching. Tricky customer compared by Villa fans to a second Grealish. MOTM against Forest. We need to control that midfield again better than we have done. Giles and Hamer are not too shabby either so we can get at their rather porous defence. Sema and Kiko need to keep bombing forward.

Coventry's finest hour though is well worth watching upsetting one of the so called big teams. Spuds no less. Houchen with a magnificent diving effort after Bennett had equalized Allen's opener. John Sillett's smile lit up Wembley. Oggy in goal and the unfortunately passed away Cyril Regis upfront.

This was my first ever Watford game during the promotion season when I was 11, Dad brought me to Chelsea for a few European games before that but couldn't get me to stay (ironically he came to that game, was excited to see an ageing Dennis Wise play for them lol). Went to a few more league games before the end of the season, remember being absolutely buzzing for Palace in the play-offs only to find it clashed with a school exam (on a bloody Saturday at that!)

Yeah looks a good little player Callum O'Hare a little bit light weight though, they will try and counter attack so we need to be wary.

Think it was Coventry where Eustace scored an overhead kick. 2-0 up and cruising and then the referee was injured. A baffling set of decisions in the final minutes somehow ended in a 2-2 draw.

Remember walking home thinking "what on earth just happened?"

Was also Coventry where the game was postponed after the Jimmy Davis tragedy.

Was at the Ricoh I think for our first game in that stadium, midweek game Ashley Young scored a great free kick but can’t remember the score. Had a lot of away fans that night.

This would be a coupon buster if anything other than a home win.
Can’t see Ivic changing much from Wednesday hopefully start strong and get some game time from Hughes Gray and Troy. 3-0 home win.

We did have one kid. Jadon Sancho I think his name was, but Man City poached him. I think he's lost in their system now. Probably going to filter down to League 1 or 2 like the rest.

I think that it is imperative that we start better and get the first goal tomorrow they will try and ay counter attacking football but that game plan goes to s**t if we score first.
