Coventry are probably the only team I have seen us play away at two different grounds: my first ever Watford away game in 2001 at Highfield Road which I think was won by Micah Hyde and a 3-0 win some time after that at the Ricoh with the likes of King, Henderson and the dubious Adam Johnson scoring if I remember right. Cruelly denied the chance of seeing a third ground this season by COVID, but maybe one day. As for the game, I am almost never sure of Watford winning home games and I never recommend friends to bet on Watford. But I am for this one which means we will definitely lose. Prediction Watford 1-2 Coventry City Sarr (3), Deeney (missed pen 88, missed pen 90+2, sent off 90+5); Deeney (og 89, og 90+4) MOTM: Deeney
I'd forgotten this. Was it in the snow or was that another year? I've just realised I've been to two games where the keeper has scored from a drop kick
Jan 84 i think it was -next game after beating L*t*n on our way to Wembley I remember it snowing in Dec 80 when we lost 5-0 in that replay -i think it was Sherwoods first game back for over a year as Eric Steele was keeping him out
Yeah but hey we got 300k for one of the greatest footballers of his generation so we were correctlly compensated. Thanks EFL you bumbling group of institutionally corrupt idiots
it’s interesting they are more complimentary about us then we are. need to avoid giving another goal away in the first few mins Watford 2 Coventry 0
No, no. The snow game was in the Cup in ‘86 - the year we lost in the quarter final to the Ian Rush dive. The Sherwood goal was a league game.
Almost all fans are extremely pessimistic, the only difference is that we're the only ones who are right to be pessimistic
Feel sorry for Cov. If you want to see bad owners that have destroyed the club look no further than them.
Trying to think how many clubs we be played at 2 different away grounds in recent years . Spurs Coventry Leicester Citeh Brentford (can’t count them yet as we not played them away this season ) Sunderland Arsenal Spam Stoke Any others ? Reading ? Been to Majdeski but not old one. MK Dons I refuse to acknowledge as they not the rightful heirs Wimbledon . Went to the first ever game at the Crisp Stadium and witnessed the most horrific racial abuse of the locals from home fans walking to the game that made me realise for the first time I had no idea what really goes on for a lot of people subjected to that . Have disliked Leicester ever since , exacerbated by the mainstream elevation of Linekar and Vardy as media darlings . One a state funded parasite and the other proven racist .
The only time I went to Highfield Road was in the snow, I'm pretty sure it was the FA Cup 3rd round in 1986.
I have no idea how this game will turn out. It could be a game too for but that could also apply to Coventry. I really fancy us to kick on after the break so 3 points going into will be most welcome. Foster Ngakia William Cathcart Kiko Sarr Capoue Garner King Ken Pedro Gray
would add Bolton to that list for me and west ham. charlton count ? I saw us play them when they were playing their home games at Upton Park
Need to keep a close eye on Darren Huckerby , an up and coming youngster. Be dangerous to focus all our attention on Dion Dublin.
What I want to see: Foster Ngakia WTE Wilmot Femenia Hughes Capoue Garner Sarr Gray Pedro What we'll get: Foster WTE Cathcart Kabasele Ngakia Chalobah Capoue Cleverley Sema Pedro Sarr
Wouldn’t be surprised in the next game or two for Ivic to try and change to a 4-3-3 given the return of Gray/Deeney/Perica/Anyone but Murray to full fitness. I think we’ve all bemoaned the lack of a left back with Masina out, but given that we’ve played much of this season without a recognised centre forward in a more traditional purpose, think things may change somewhat. Think we saw it in preseason with Gray and a tad in the highlights is that it’ll allow other players to rotate around the front areas of the pitch as they know at this level he’ll occupy the goal scoring postitions should the chances arise - meaning rather than the back 4 being settled and narrow with two more traditional wingers up top, it allows one in a 352 to peel off and stretch and create space for onrunning midfielders like Quina or Cleverley on Weds. Maybe I’m just talking sh*t. Up the ‘Orns, believe we aren’t a million miles away from clicking. That being said, having a look at who’s available on a free for a LB for a 6 month contract, whoever’s heading that up at the club should be sacked immediately given the clubs “target”.
Good Morning Everybody and happy weekend! If we do win today, it will be our first 3pm victory on a Saturday afternoon since we beat Villa way back on the 28th December last year! And our first 3pm on any day win since we beat Wolves on New Year’s Day.
I also saw us play Charlton at Selhurst while they were away from the Valley. The main one though is surely Spurs - the only team I’ve seen us play away to on four different grounds and all in the last three years or so. WHL old and new, Wembley and MK.
Good quiz question in a few years. Brighton also possible for 3 grounds. Maybe more but not sure. I've been to see us at Oxfords 2 grounds, Southamptons and both wmeblys but not doubled up otherwise.
It's possible that some people saw Brighton at 4 places as they spent a year or two playing at Gillingham but I don't think we played them there. I have seen us at a few clubs at different home grounds; Stoke, Derby, Reading, Walsall and Leicester. I saw us play the original Wimbledon at Selhurst and the National Hockey Stadium plus Charlton at Selhurst Park, Upton Park and the Valley. And I've been to both Wembleys
There's a handful of places where I haven't been to the new ground but I went to the old ground, Oxford and Middlesbrough and some others. I just remembered I went to the old and new Den watching us play Millwall, IIRC we beat Millwall 4-0 on a Boxing Day at the old Den.
Of course the other team to play at four different grounds fairly recently, although not against us, are Coventry. Highfield Road, Ricoh Arena and at Northampton and now Birmingham.
Wigan? Stoke? Hull? Colchester? Cardiff? Barnet? QPR if you go back a fair bit. Indeed, I once read that QPR held the record for different home venues, but that was a long time ago.
