Tried to warn the HMS PISS THE LEAGUE-ers over the summer that the Championship is a dreadful division and we will end up getting stuck down here
Some things will never change. Change formation. Never thought I’d be dying for Andre Gray back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If that isn't a wake up call nothing will be. Disgraceful performance but not really surprising as we spent much of the summer paying players to do nothing.
******* disgrace. Didn't deserve anything tonight. Time reality started to dawn on a few. This side, this squad, this club is not good enough to get promoted. We've ridden our luck somewhat to get a good start, but the underlying issues which have always been there are coming to the fore: No left back No strikers too many crap players who are finished No squad depth (no options from the bench) an awful, negative coach Zero urgency throughout the side which is infected with a deep, contagious lethargy You don't score goals, you don't win games. We aren't gonna 1-0 our way to promotion. This side is a 12-14th place side. Gray and Hughes won't provide a silver bullet to that either.
Think it’s time Ivic rolled out his preferred system. If having just Hughes and gray missing means he can’t play it then how often will he have to avoid it through other injuries?
I’m absolutely seething at that pathetic gutless rancid clueless slow turgid performance Outplayed by a side that might not get another point all season ******* shocking
Great point and performance. Could be the difference between 12th and 13th at the end of the season. Well done lads.
Let's not forget we could have bought Wycombe with the money we spent on sarr alone. If we had done that we could have been celebrating two points tonight
That was ******* ****. We played down to them, used horrific tactics, couldn't string a pass together and we crumbled when they came forward. This is our Yeovil (h) from 2013-14 season- we ain't going up
Great performance. LOTS of spirit. striker playing with heart on sleeve. Never give up spirit. Watford can learn a lot from WWFC
So,so wasteful with our passing. Fortunate to get a point. Ainsworth has interesting touchline garments.
Worst performance of the season so far, only Ben Foster had a decent game. Can’t take anything away from Wycombe they played really well but we were atrocious at times, the amount of poor passes was outstanding. We are in desperate need of Gray & Deeney returning we just aren’t good enough going forward, the keeper only dived for the Murray chance the whole game. Our possession turnover is another huge concern as we constantly give the ball away and never control the game, we haven’t all season. It’s still a point gained towards the cause, but that is a big miss.
I’m normally a level headed reasoned person but that was ******* abysmal. 5-1 genuinely would not have flattered Wycombe. Yes, they put pressure on us but we approached the game with such an arrogant lackadaisical attitude that against almost any other team we’d have been looking at Man City like score lines. The fact we should have been on the receiving end of one of those in this game is bloody sobering. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pretty bloody clear that they all took a day off yesterday. They continued their holidays into today.
I said it on the SB - he's the worst signing in the history of the club. The pursuit of him at the expense of strengthening our shortcomings is what got us relegated. Even this season, if we'd cut our losses and got 25m for him, we could have bought a top drawer left back, a championship level striker and one or two other players to strengthen. As it is, we have an out of position player who looks less and less like a Premier League player and whose career we are probably destroying.
Good point. Wycombe are a solid side so a point is good. Not many teams will come away from Wycombe with 1 point - mark my words
God this team really is ****. Feel like a lot of our results to date have been papering over some pretty massive cracks, which were exposed tonight. With the players we have available, we have to be playing better than that. Respect to Wycombe for their point first point in the division, but from a Watford perspective that was an utterly disgraceful performance. We set up so negatively with a back 5 against a half fit Akinfenwa. There was absolutely no urgency from the players at all and despite spending 30 seconds on the ball, they still failed to manage simple passes. Honestly got no idea how we are where we are in the table, but we aren't going to stay here much longer unless something changes pretty radically (if someone suggests Deeney getting back to fitness will fix things I will slap them).
Wycombe deserved a point. Can we trade Akinfenwa for Deeney? He won everything tonight and scored the same amount of goals in open play
Crap result, and one we were very lucky to get. If Wycombe won 4-1 we couldn't have complained. Seems like we thought we could turn up and roll them over, and got bullied all over the park. Quina, Pedro, Kabasele especially not up to the physical challenge. Feel Ivic got out-thought by Ainsworth, too. 2 CBs on the bench and we bring on Chalobah to blaze shots over the bar and let through balls run under his foot? The one thing Murray is supposed to be good at is finishing and he can't even do that? Thought he'd be a decent impact sub but he's offering literally nothing. Hopefully that was just an off game and a kick up the arse.
Kiko had one of his best games I’ve seen in a Watford shirt, but yeah aside from those two everyone else was a bit sh*t.
Another game following exactly the same trend. I’m not sure what Ivic does in training all week, but the players surely aren’t doing what he wants them to do. We’ve all watched football for long enough to know the ‘it’s all about results’ talk is rubbish. There’s something in how a team plays, it’s style, cohesion and confidence which shows where it’s heading. We’re not ticking any of those boxes and really haven’t all season. Yes, in fits and starts we’ve managed to wrestle control of periods of games, or played with a swagger for 20 minutes or something. But the fundamentals for a promotion season aren’t there. Or if they are, they’re hiding. Body language for long periods tonight was awful. Too many players presumably thought they could phone it in, take the win and trot off home again.
Foster MOTM. The rest of the team dreadful. Capoue was shocking. Too good for this league. Appalling sloppy passing from all. Zero attacking endeavour. Zero positive intent to attack. Always side to side or backwards again with Sarr and Pedro desperate to break beyond they have to check back constantly and drop deeper and deeper. Ivic needs a word as well. Why are we playing 3-5-2 at Wycombe ? Are we so scared of them we are playing on the counter ? Midfield is powder puff. Desperately need Hughes in there as Capoue barely seemed bothered again. If we want promotion games like these have to be won. It all adds up in the end. Two games with Foster MOTM recently. Not good enough. Bloody abysmal effort tonight. Painful on the eyes and the brain. Why Bielsa is a great coach and Vlad has a long way to go. We desperately need a target man to attack crosses. If we have Murray play him while Perica is out. His experience as at the end might help. Shameful performance. The side looks so unbalanced. Sema is not a wingback or fullback. Needs to play on the wing. So well done to Floppo and company for another awful recruitment window. Perhaps the idiots think games are won on paper and they turned up thinking Wycombe would drop dead at the sight of them. Bloody awful. Worse than some of the PL performances.
Our passing has been toilet for a year now at least. Ditto set pieces. Wtf do they do all week in training ?
