I think Garner was only out v Derby as he’d been on international duty with England U-20. Think that we’re likely to see midfield trio of Capoue-Garner-Cleverley against Bournemouth
Vlad says the squad available from Blackburn should be available for Bournemouth, plus possibly 1 extra, unnamed player returning. Later on in the press conference another journo asked if he'd say who the player was. Vlad: "No." Love the secrecy, there really is no benefit to being open and honest in these things, just helps your opponent. Also wouldn't surprise me if we actually do have a couple of players from the Blackburn squad facing late fitness tests for one reason or another, but why give Bournemouth the heads up?
Probably doesn’t want to get hopes and expectations up either. Afterall it was said Gray and Hughes might be back .. for last week!
Maybe, though I think he only played half an hour against Wales U20. Maybe it was just squad management too, Blackburn are better than Derby
Always wondered why there seemed to be an obligation to tell the press which players are available. He should say Sarr and Pedro aren't fit and our only attacker is Glenn Murray.
First real test of the season but a comfortable 2-0 win I recon, taking us (joint) top of the league. E-I-E-I-E-I-O
All that ended with the Arse "Invincibles". Along with cigarettes and beer in the dressing room. The game is much more demanding fitness-wise now, although less bone-crushing. The muscles need time to recover.
In the old days of real reserve league games, most clubs did have good strength in depth and those having to be brought into the first team were already match fit.
Yes. But that meant that he wasn't with the squad during the international break. So not so much a resting thing as a prioritisation of those who trained with the group.
I suspect it’s Deeney going by his comments the other night. Think Hughes and Gray are still a bit away yet.
I wonder if our motley crew of children, udinese loanees, wantaways who couldn't get a move and WWII veteran strikers will realise how important this derby is to the fans Must win game
This game has banana skin written all over it. Bournemouth are in good form, and have the ability to score goals in clusters and simply take the game away from you. I wouldn’t be too disappointed with a draw.
The eyes of the world (ie the parts of the 3 Counties/N. London/Dorset/Hampshire that don't support other clubs) will be on this game, gargantuan
They only beat us once in 10 attempts in our 5 years in the Prem, didn't they,? Just the infamous 0-4 at home back when we were doing well under Gracia, but Kabasele got sent off? Would be bloody typical to go and lose to them now that the stakes are higher and we're not seemingly glued to mid table!
They're unbeaten this season in the league, so I doubt we will be taking it lightly. It will be our toughest match so far but get through it unscathed and we have a kind set of fixtures coming up.
Well with six games gone the league table also represents a form table and we’re one point better off off than them and we’ve got the same GD.
Please do not remind me of that game. It was lashing down with rain and Watford played the most predictable game possible. Muff were average but still got four goals that day. I got splashed by a bus going home and was miserable for the whole weekend. Mind you, we did beat Wolves 2-0 away after.
Think of the 2-0 away win in the sunshine of 2017 then, back when Chalobah was immense and some Brazilian kid called Richarlison was ripping it up...actually, no, that doesn't make me feel any better neither!
If you look back to the first mention of the term, it was indeed him who coined it in the Scunthorpe match thread... I'm sure he is willing to give Clappers/COGs the copyright for a generous price.
Actually folkestone got there a week before him http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/the-championship-2020-21.57308/page-20#post-2887057 although the term has been floating around (see what I did there) among fans for a few years now. And HB1 may be the wfcforums pioneer on the phrase, as he mentioned it even earlier! http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/head-coach-vladimir-ivic.57389/page-8#post-2882752 Used to think HB1 had soggy sheets but he's showing huge COG potential in the last couple of weeks
The 6-1 in August 2013 just after they came up from League 1 is the last time we've beaten them at home. The 0-4 was awful, it was actually a birthday present (I've only had a season ticket one season) - I picked the match, thinking it would be a really good game as both teams started the season well. But after not playing too badly first half, for some reason the game just totally fell away from us after the Kabs sending off and Bournemouth could've had more. And to cap it all, in an otherwise decent month for weather, it only reached 8C in Watford that afternoon and very unusually for early October I needed a hot drink when I got home 15 miles away. Just one of those embarrassments/shockers that Watford have at least once a season, like the 1-4 to Huddersfield the previous year, losing 2-0 at ten-man Hull and 4-2 at relegated Norwich (even in the promotion season we were well beaten at a poor Huddersfield side)...
Surely the Wycombe game is the ‘banana skin’? No hopers, string of defeats, “they’ve got to win sometime” etc.
We better hope they beat Norwich then. Even if we beat Muff, you know we will roll into Wycombe like a big yellow, black and red present which holds three points. It's what we do after all... the Watfordy thing.
