If we were smart we would go and sign Sessegnon on loan from Spurs with an option to buy, if we get promoted. However we’re not smart, so we will wait for Janmaat to recover and play him LWB. Then Duxberry will come out with his usual drivel of how we tried. Happens every window without fail.
He's not really a left back either. The season where he took off for Fulham he was playing as a winger.
Lumley watched from the stands alongside Ryan Manning, with both players' contracts expiring next year and with Manning having rejected offers of a new deal. Hopefully that means a deal to us is close.
The fact they were both in our ground with the current C19 restrictions surely means we are in some sort of serious talks with them? Could this mean a double swoop from us might be imminent?
Manning, hopefully. But no idea what we would do with Lumley, he's probably little different from Bachmann. It could be that they're just mates and Manning invited him along for company to watch our match with.
Manning seems a decent player. A good battle trying to remove King Ken from the LWB position. But competition can only be a good thing.
Would allow a 4-4-2 or 4-4-3 with Ken in front of an LB. Otherwise yes, hard to drop King Ken (who two years ago I groaned when I saw his name on the team sheet, different times now!)
I had a conversation with Swedish fans after an international v Norway last year and they couldn't believe he was starting every game, infact they were annoyed because they want him starting for Sweden. Obviously there were right. I can see why big clubs in Serie A are after him. My big worry is if Brighton make an offer, Potter will know all about him from his time in Sweden.
So far Ken has been outstanding. He and Ngakia are so well balanced and are so offensive. We could afford to sell Estupinan after all.
I also like King Ken in midfield, I believe he played there when Udinese beat Juve, which is a good sign! One or two more injuries in the next few games and we might be struggling there, so getting someone like Manning in would be great
So how from that did you conclude "Hopefully that means a deal to us is close", as opposed to a deal to any of the other clubs who might be in for him?!
Key word “Hopefully,” so not my fault you can’t read properly. Nice try to start a pointless argument. Just to appease you though, here’s why I said “HOPEFULLY” that means a deal to us is close; Been linked with him, athletic story, seems to be our no.1 LB/LWB target, contract expiring so he’s cheap, we like cheap. We need a LWB, he’s a LWB, and I’m sure I can think of more reasons if I could be bothered.
I’m not sure he’s our ‘number one target.” Leventhal described him as someone “in the mix” or something like that. I reckon he’s more our fairly likely backup option should a range of riskier/more ambitious targets fail to come off (eg Giannoulis). On Friday, Leventhal said we might also be seeking an EPL loan target instead. I wonder whether Sema’s performance yesterday will have made bringing in a new starting LWB less of a priority than it had been.
I’m confident that he’s our number 1 target. There’s other LWB’s that I’m sure the club would prefer, but none make as much financial sense as Manning. That itself would make him the number 1 target in my opinion. Just turned 24, proven in the championship, contract expiring and available to sign a free in 3 months. Has refused to sign a new contract, so at this point QPR don’t have a choice but to accept a reasonable offer. If they don’t, they lose him for nothing. It’s too much of a Gino Pozzo deal to not be our number 1 target. Manning literally ticks all the boxes; Position we want Young Proven Cheap
The difficulty with Manning as I see it is that he will not want to move unless he can play regularly, and we already have a wing back who is good enough be starting every single week. I don't really buy into the playing 442 with them both it in as you are shoving round pegs in square holes there really, and the best form shown by both players has been in the wing back position. There are so many games this season that we can probably offer enough game time to both, especially with Ken's versatility, but then what do we do with Masina? I guess there is always the option of bumping him to Udinese in January.
I don't think we need a first choice left wing back - Sema is more than good enough at it. We need an able deputy for him as there are a lot of games this season, and if he is injured the drop from him to Masina and Stevenson is enormous.
We're currently paying the wages of Feminia, Sema and Masina, all of which are more than capable of playing the LWB role at this level. Personally don't think we'll be shelling out anything substantial unless 1 of Kiko and Ken get poached.
I accept that we have dropped a division now, but we saw quite a bit of him on the wings he never really looked anything special. His best form of his career has been at left wing back and he is continuing to impress there. I don't really get the desire to shove him back onto the wing.
