Here, as an example. The valuation has been reported elsewhere as well. https://www.whoscored.com/News/rxfP...w/Tottenham-eye-surprise-move-for-Watford-man
I think a move to spurs would not actually be good for him. They look like a squad in relative decline. he could end up a scape goat if the team perform below the spurs fans expectations. I would not begrudge him the move, but would be very surprised if it happened.
I don't think there's any chance he wouldn't jump at the chance to join spurs in the prem from watford in the champ.
£13m is coincidentally exactly how much Hughes is valued on the typically ridiculous transfermarkt. Think it's highly likely the links mentioned have used that rather than any source from the club. Can be ignored.
I'd be a bit surprised if he was able to negotiate such a low clause, because at the time we signed him there weren't exactly a long list of suitors.
No. Just throwing the thought out there. I would imagine some of our players have clauses in their deals that we don’t know about that we haven’t really considered.
Not really sure what you are on about. Neither articles mention a release clause. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-news-will-hughes-22634045 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...g-surprise-13m-Watford-midfielder-Hughes.html
It was posted a few weeks ago (seemingly elsewhere) that Duncan Castles had reported that Hughes was of interest to Southampton and Brighton. Looks like Southampton are signing midfielder Ibrahima Diallo instead and the Athletic's Brighton correspondent (Andy Naylor) has reported that Brighton are unlikely to bring in any more players, with the only potential incoming a striker should an appropriate option become available. So encouraging news as Hughes is obviously a key player for us and should really excel in the Championship.
Heart attack when saw this thread was updated. Of the players I don't want us to lose, Hughes is near the top.
He was in the changing room at the Luton game so he very much looks to be part of things. Got to be odd for him if his first game back is Derby though.
After all my comments, if the window closes and we still have Hughes, Capoue and Sarr and all are able to play regularly, we will piss the league.
Think Capoue will be the big question mark. Wants to leave, but if a move isn't on its down to whether he'll get his head down and play
Players like Capoue and Welbeck are not bad eggs. They want to go, but if they cannot find a move they will get on with it and play for us without any issues.
Not even sure that’s a question mark - certain he’ll get his head down. Whether thats enough for Ivic though... Can only see the manager reintegrating players if they aren’t going to down tools or agitate for a move again in 3 months time.
No if they are still here we should play them, they would not let us down they will just get on with it and play their best.
Wouldn't surprise me if there were a few forward-dated transfers arranged in November and December given the circumstances.
Send them both on loan to Scunthorpe for a month. They will be so ******* grateful to come back they will be loyal first teamers
You are misreading the situation as usual. Getting Capoue off the books saves the 3 year wage exposure so nobody should be expecting much of a fee. He’s been an asset and deserves a move. 1 year loan with no obligation to buy is bad news though.
Or Walsall. The poor ****ers are STILL waiting for their Deeney sell on percentage. Who’d have thought he’d still be with us 10 years on ...
To be honest, if Capoue goes on a free, I’m not bothered. He’s served us with distinction and deserves to finish his career in a top league or experiencing something new. At his age and wage, a transfer fee is hardly an issue.
