You would think. However we’re a better team than Derby, and have a better chance of being promoted than they do. On top of that, Derby could be relegated to League 1 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...-deductions-allegedly-breaches-EFL-rules.html
On another note, if we ship out Kabasele, I wouldn’t mind us going for Scott McKenna at Aberdeen. Granted he’s had injury issues with his hamstrings, but at only 23, if he is over his injury problem, could be a decent piece of business. Has all the attributes to be a top CB and make the step up to the Prem. Wouldn’t be too expensive either. We could probably get him for £4-5mil.
Good call. When I've seen him play he looked decent. Wicked shot on him and decent with the ball at his feet. Lots of clubs have been looking at him over the seasons. So I take it from that its because of his injuries that has stopped him progressing. Added note. Considering Kabs was a forward his distribution is absolutely shocking. He seems like a decent enough fella, prone to mistakes once he loses his head though.
So well known agent Paul Tavares tweeted this 5 hrs ago. Old picture of the Vic but, clearly stating he is doing a deal with us. Posted the client list under his tweet. Obviously it’s not going to be Depay. https://mobile.twitter.com/Tavares03Paulo/status/1297079547247104002 https://www.transfermarkt.com/seg-sports-entertainment-group/beraterfirma/berater/586
Having looked more at his list of clients. I’m guessing, aka hoping, it’s to do with one one of these. Drongelen CB at Hamburg Wesley Hoedt CB at Southampton Ingason CB at PAOK (Ivic former team before Maccabi, albeit he didn’t play/sign for PAOK until after Ivic left. Also played for Granada Under Pozzo ownership). Troost-Ekong CB at Udinese Jens Stage CM at Kobenhavn Diousse DM at St Etienne
I want it to be Rick Van Drongelen just for the name, the reality is looking at that list we’re probably just re-signing Folqiuer.
Terrible how far we’ve sunk I know, but he is a decent ball playing CB which is Ivic’s style. So maybe he might come good in the championship being more his level?
Hoedt seems the most likely out of those names given we were already linked with him elsewhere only yesterday. He'd be very good in the Champ if it's true, he'll surely be an upgrade on Dawson and Cathcart at least. Troost-Ekong surely wouldn't be dropped from being a first team regular for Udinese last year to playing for us in the Champ? Though we do have Sema with us again it seems, so I suppose stranger things have happened.
I hope Tavares isn't the one drawing up the contract, in which case his client could accidentally sign for "watfort" and thus be able to quickly emulate Gueye and scrap it as soon as Marseille turn up.
Would have been quite pleased with Hoedt until yesterday, but apparently Saints fans hate him... Tbf, our team now as it stands is probably better than Udinese, would probably be about equal when the transfer window is over, and we had guys like Abdi who weren't exactly unknown to the Udinese faithful. That said, if it were an Udinese player, surely we wouldn't need to get this agent involved?
Because he's an agent who represents players and none of the players he represents currently play for us.
I've seen someone post he knew of the deal ahead of time, but I can't find anything about him being directly involved in it. Another thing, would he really travel to Watford, and post a tweet only about Watford, when it would be a deal of a player leaving to join a different club?
One other thought, another client of Tavares who I noticed, is Lewis Gibson - 20 year-old CB at Everton; he was on loan at Fleetwood in League One in the second half of last season and supposedly was very good. They're aiming to loan him to either the Championship or Bundesliga next season. Hard to hell if he'd definitely be ready yet for a club aiming for promotion from the Champ, but he's very highly rated, capped at England U17, 18 and U20 levels and Everton paid £6mil to sign him as a 17 year-old from Newcastle. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/08/...er-silva-claimed-wasnt-ready-for-pl-football/
Don't see the point, unless we wanted to buy him, as we'd ideally want someone more experienced to play alongside Wilmot
That's a long list clients! My guess is he's come to pick up Foulqiuers P45 and clear out his locker.
Fernando Forestieri available on a free. Wants to move back to London area. Some possible talk of Brentford being interested? Pussetto replacement? Will bring own shin pads.
Worth a punt. Ermiyas (Ethiopian), not sure of his position so stick him at centre-back. https://twitter.com/Ermiyas04966345/status/1297599177917169664?s=20
Worth giving him a trial just because of his initiative, he could be a hidden gem or there again it's more likely he could be absolutely ****, but a trial would not hurt.
Think this is going to be a big week for us in regards to incomings and outgoings. With the mandatory quarantine of 14 days, if we want players to be ready for the season, then this is the week to be bringing them in. However we can’t bring them in until we ship some out. Predictions for this week is, Pereyra, Pussetto, Deulofeu and Welbeck all gone. Sierralta, Cohen and a CB who has not yet been linked with us, all in.
For reference (I don't know what other countries are doing wrt quarantining people coming from abroad, but it could be important to note) English leagues, La Liga the Greek league and the Dutch league all starting on the same weekend, Serie A and the Bundesliga the week after, Belgian, French and Israeli leagues already underway. Can't think of anywhere else in Europe we'd be looking to buy players from
