Well we don't go long before some off field issue crops up. It's been a stable diet long before the Pozzos came. Be some story about Bassini/Russos and Simpson in the press.
Important that we don’t overlook something of critical importance: Marseille have had some absolutely beautiful kits over the years. Delightfully regal, masterpieces of modern football. We, on the other hand, frequently look like what would occur if Ronald McDonald had sexual intercourse with a bumble bee.
I didn’t think it was fair on us to bring the Stade Vélodrome into the conversation. Like their kits, a truly majestic work of art.
Yay, a few more million. Not to mention the fact that we have hundreds of millions pouring through the club every few years, but that the net result of that is a team of dross. We won't stay up because Gino's overdraft is slightly reduced.
Given the silence and given how vocal we were about going after Everton over Silva, I imagine the club have dropped the ball here in the paperwork and are just hoping everyone forgets their announcement.
Think I read that a 'club insider' says it's a matter of principle for Gino now and he won't let it drop. You'd think they'd say 'it's a matter of Marseille breaking the rules' if we had a leg to stand on.
Interestingly though they’ve not taken the announcement or the interview they did with an ‘expert’ about him down from the club website.
Probably got 14,000 Kelme shirts with his name on the back ready to drop in China, so we’re trying keep the illusion going until we’ve shifted them.
I guess that was here? http://sportwitness.co.uk/stinks-watford-ready-assert-rights-transfer-mess-third-club-feel-wronged/ Looks like L'Equipe at least got Eric Roy on the record, which is basically the most we've heard from inside the club.
Based on that article it seems to all rest on Gueye's new representative's claim that he was able to somehow cancel his contract with us. It seems Marseille themselves aren't even entirely sure if the situation will stand. Marseille don't seem to have much knowledge of the deal with us and have just given Gueye a contract so he will automatically end up with them just in case the contract can indeed be wriggled out of: The club told the newspaper: “We activated proceedings after reading [Gueye’s] lawyer’s declarations that he’d cancelled his contract with Watford. Our team studied the legal situation and we decided to sign Gueye knowingly, in order to be ready to any eventuality”.
News today that there are big possibilities that Marseille could be about to get a massive cash injection from new buyers. Zidane is wanted as new coach so maybe he might not even be wanted.
I reckon he's going to line up for us on the first day next season and this was all a smoke screen and he can't wait to play with his boyhood hero Ivan Toney.
Just shows how tin pot we are, that there are no journalists bothered to do a little bit of translating or speaking to French counterparts to find out what has gone on here. Instead a player, who is still announced as Watford signing on out website, will be playing for Marseilles and it will just be expected that we will all carry on and accept that as perfectly normal.
Now is not the time but, once the season is finished, we fans should be demanding a statement from the club about this. On the face of it, going by the information which, as you say, is still on the club website, we are expecting the player to be joining for pre-season training. Clearly that isn’t going to happen so we need to hear the club’s position on it.
The statement on the website supports the clubs legal position. What other statement are you looking for? As anything else potentially damages the clubs legal claim. We all know this will end up with Marseille paying Watford an undisclosed sum whilst not admitting anything. Similar to the Silva sarga. Does the club really have to tell fans that?
I would like them to say they are convinced Gueye is a Watford player and they are going to pursue that legal claim.
Exactly. We can spend that on another high class centre half like Craig Dawson. What a time to be alive.
No joke either. That's a perfectly fair summary. We could bring in two very good out of contract players for his wages alone. Eric Roy is doing a wonderful job.
Clever football business Pozzos. Checkmate the rest of football. We've wangled our way through another classic wheeze.
Press officer: Sir, the fans are unhappy about the murky nature of this reported transfer and its undermining our credibility. They feel we are not transparent and that we do business as a club in ways that are less than clean cut. Gino: hold my beer.
