Based on that article it seems to all rest on Gueye's new representative's claim that he was able to somehow cancel his contract with us. It seems Marseille themselves aren't even entirely sure if the situation will stand. Marseille don't seem to have much knowledge of the deal with us and have just given Gueye a contract so he will automatically end up with them just in case the contract can indeed be wriggled out of: The club told the newspaper: “We activated proceedings after reading [Gueye’s] lawyer’s declarations that he’d cancelled his contract with Watford. Our team studied the legal situation and we decided to sign Gueye knowingly, in order to be ready to any eventuality”.
News today that there are big possibilities that Marseille could be about to get a massive cash injection from new buyers. Zidane is wanted as new coach so maybe he might not even be wanted.

Just shows how tin pot we are, that there are no journalists bothered to do a little bit of translating or speaking to French counterparts to find out what has gone on here. Instead a player, who is still announced as Watford signing on out website, will be playing for Marseilles and it will just be expected that we will all carry on and accept that as perfectly normal.
Now is not the time but, once the season is finished, we fans should be demanding a statement from the club about this. On the face of it, going by the information which, as you say, is still on the club website, we are expecting the player to be joining for pre-season training. Clearly that isn’t going to happen so we need to hear the club’s position on it.
The statement on the website supports the clubs legal position. What other statement are you looking for? As anything else potentially damages the clubs legal claim. We all know this will end up with Marseille paying Watford an undisclosed sum whilst not admitting anything. Similar to the Silva sarga. Does the club really have to tell fans that?
I would like them to say they are convinced Gueye is a Watford player and they are going to pursue that legal claim.
