I honestly have no idea. Ask Relegation Certs, Man City is his first love, he will know.

Watford-Newcastle and Norwich-West Ham are the early Saturday matches. Before West Ham-Watford then play six days later, Villa (Palace and at Everton) and Bournemouth (Leicester and at Man City) place twice.

In a weird quirk, if Watford and West Ham win on Saturday, and then Villa and Bournemouth each lose twice (or even if Villa pick up a point), then a West Ham-Watford draw ensures both stay up.

So do we want West Ham to lose, knowing it keeps them mired in it but makes our match against them more meaningful for them involved? Or do we want them to win, assuming we are doing well against Newcastle, so there's a chance for Germany-Austria next Friday night?

I don't know what any of it means. My head hurts now. COYH.

Lots of permutations, but we need West Ham to lose at Norwich, and I think there's a chance that could happen.

If we beat Newcastle, that would then put us 3 points clear of West Ham, and potentially 6 clear of Bournemouth and 7 clear of Villa, that's if they both lose of course. I want Brighton to lose as well, as if they lose and we win, we're only 2 points behind them, so it also draws them into the equation.

We need as many teams as possible involved. Right now, it's us that the bottom three are trying to overtake.

A West Germany v Austria event would never happen. Teams in the Premier League are far too honest to do something like that.

This was the table before we played Man Utd on 22nd December. The next 17 games has seen us win 6 draw 4 and lose 7. We've even clawed 1 goal back on GD.

Aguero is out for the rest of the PL season, not that it's stopped City from still scoring bucketloads.

    4 games to go.

3 points above the drop zone.

    Anything could yet happen.

Although I admit that European place is looking unlikely for us now.

West Ham and Watford have gained four points in the last five games, and Bournemouth and Aston Villa only 1 point. At this stage I think one more win for West Ham against Norwich makes them safe. As they currently have a three point and 8 goal difference advantage over Bournemouth. They then have to play us and Aston Villa. So if I were them I would go all out to get that win at Norwich. For us I think we need four points, because our goal difference advantage is lower, and in Man City we have form of shipping a bucket load. So we also need to keep the lid on any defeats to keep that goal difference Total down. While it is a grim situation we are in, imagine being a Bournemouth or Aston Villa fan. I can’t see why they would feel more confident about their remaining fixtures than we do of ours. Still some way to go in this drama.

Newcastle are 15/4 to beat us Saturday. I know we won a game but we’re still ******* horrendous - those odds are way off what they should be.

Another thing, if anyone has it in with the Watford twitter admin, please tell them to not post anything stupid between now and until we are mathematically safe. Don’t need the kiss of death from them.

By that virtue we are 5/1 to go down with Villa and Bournemouth both 1/8 on. Won’t stop me panicking every second thinking about every permutation until we’re mathematically safe.

If our first 17 games had that form, we would be sitting on 44 points right now with 4 games left.

  16. Bloody hell 15/4!!!

Double chance on Newcastle is also evens and I'd probably be relatively happy with a draw.

So £50 on the win returns £237.50 and £50 on the double chance to offset any loses and I'd happily lose £100 if we won the game.

I don't ever go against Watford. But that is a very tempting win win scenario.

Note also that Bournemouth, not even visible in that table, were 10 points ahead of us at that time. We have made up 13 points on them since, despite our recent poor run.

  18. Despite the bottom 3 apparently only picking up 3 draws between them since the restart (some 18 games) I'm still pretty sure we're going to get overtaken at some point.

I had £50 in my bet365 account so put £25 on a Newcastle win and £25 on a draw pays
£118.75 and £90 respectively, I would be delighted to win nothing on Saturday, as you say can’t lose!

They have only picked up 9 point's in the league since then that is an extremely
    poor return.

We normally do quite well against Newcastle. We were unlucky at theirs this season. I think they benefit from not having their fans about though.

I think even us and Norwich would have beaten Spurs yesterday. They were truly abysmal. Thank God for Lloris and VAR.

They were there for the taking but Bournemouth just couldn't get it done.

Smith and Brooks a big miss for remaining games.

Don't know why you think those odds are so surprising. Newcastle have dropped a hell a lot of points in winnable games this season, taking only two points in four games against Norwich and Villa, failing to beat Brighton, West Ham and us at home (when we were just as bad if not worse than we are now) and losing at home to Everton who have a poor away record. And if the bookies take history between the clubs into account, we have an excellent record against them in the Pozzo era, winning six out of nine in all competitions, and going further back, Newcastle have not beaten us at the Vic in the Premier League even when we were worse than we are now, and have only won four times in 23 attempts, all of them by one goal.

    Why?

Careful or you'll be called a bed-wetter by the intellectually challenged on this site.
The reality is we have built ourselves a nice little cushion despite playing really poorly. We were saying months ago that we needed to be well clear before those final 2 difficult games. Every game now for us and the other 2 or 3 is massive. A win tomorrow could just kill any hope in AV and B. especially if as expected WHU beat Norwich. Imagine playing as poorly as they have and seeing a 6 or 7 point gap above you , knowing that even 2 wins may not be enough when you can't even see where one will come from. A win for us tomorrow and we are close to safety depending on their sunday results. Defeat and we are right back in it with those difficult last 2 games.

You say that but if us and West Ham need a point each to stay when we play each other and it's 0-0 after 80 mins who would take a risk? I would rather we put the ball in the centre circle and both team just stood still for the remainder of the game

You're crazy. I've won a fortune on betting against us. Especially in the second half of a season.

But I've lost more on bets that we'd get relegated.... There is only one season I didn't bet on us to go down. Guess which one FFS.

I had a bet on Watford to get relegated at 9/4 when I was convinced we were going down after the Southampton defeat .

The amount was significant enough that if I win I could spend it on something nice to cheer me up but if we stay up I wont mind losing the cash .
