Villa look finished to me. They've got nothing.

Maybe we really won't even need another point.

Pogba unmarked on the edge of the area, receives the ball, takes 5 touches and then rolls it into the bottom corner

Stick a fork in Villa, they're done

Yeah, the lack of closing down for the disallowed goal and then the goal was something we aren't even guilty of.

Could very well be the case. Hopefully these results will inspire our boys though. Knowing a win on Saturday will make a huge difference and put massive pressure on Villa and Bournemouth.

With Bournemouth and Villa, if they don't get the first goal it's a non-contest.

It would but as you say we probably won't.

Greenwood could well be the best English talent since Rooney, so there's no shame in that, but Rashford was on fire before his injury - 15 goals in 26 PL games is still excellent.

If we were to beat Newcastle, we would be as good as safe. I couldn't see the other 2 overturning the points difference/goal difference with their remaining fixtures

Unfortunately, I just don't see us winning Saturday unless Newcastle decide not to turn up

It may we be in our interests for West Ham to beat Norwich now, as that will effectively make them 'safe' before they play us

It’s still very tense. None of the teams near the bottom look like winning but there’s always a chance in sport than the unexpected will happen. It’s totally conceivable that despite poor form, Bournemouth or Villa could get a win or two from their final 4 games and suddenly we’re down.

I won’t consider it ‘job done’ until it’s mathematically certain.

The plus side to United winning is that it puts them only 1 point behind Leicester in 4th. Leicester have something to play for, Spurs didn’t.

We really are in the best position, even fixture wise on paper. If we crumble, it’s on us.

I’m hoping that the win against Norwich, plus the results tonight, will lift our boys, knowing a win on Saturday, puts one foot through the door of staying in the Premier league.

    This weekend is now massive.

    Remaining games

Villa have Palace, Everton, Arsenal, West Ham

Bournemouth have Leicester, Man City, Southampton, Everton

West Ham have Norwich, Us, Man Utd, Villa

We have Newcastle, West Ham, Man City, Arsenal.

If results go our way, and we win, that will put us 6 points clear of Bournemouth and 7 points clear of Villa, with 3 games remaining.

With our game up first, we have the opportunity to really put them both under pressure.

No I think that we need to pray that West Ham need something from The Villa game on the last day

Thank God a better goal difference is worth an extra point.
    Or is it 0.5 point?

We could need to somehow avoid losing to Man City by more than 4 if it comes to that though.

I think I would rather West Ham lost to Norwich. The pressure on them to beat us would be enormous and pressure does make a big difference

Sunday's game is just as important for Leicester as it is Bournemouth. Spurs were awful today and I think Bournemouth should have beaten them and have missed an opportunity today.

Southampton have the fifth best away record and Everton have only lost three at home, and after terrible starts both have shown form that would put them between Wolves and Man Utd if kept up all season so far, I'd hardly call those last two fixtures "very winnable".

Why? We beat Wolves who are a far better side and you can't accuse them of not turning up.

Brighton haven't been in the bottom three all season, hardly compares to teams who are 3-4 points adrift.

GD could come into. Hopefully Pearson isn’t dumb enough to try and play football against Man City. Play 10 men behind the ball at all times, sit deep, compact and let them do all the hard work of trying to break us down. Play a 10-0-0 Formation for all I care, just don’t get spanked. A point or a narrow loss wouldn’t be bad at all. We just can’t get smashed 5/6/7/8-0

Edit: on the plus side we do play them 3 days later after their FA Cup game. So hopefully pep will be nice and rest Sterling, Augero, KDB Mahrez and Silva.

Luckily Bournemouth have Man City too.

Villa will probably get a decision their way next came as Smith was pretty critical of that penalty.

All evens out. He shouldn’t be complaining about anything, considering their one point better off than what they should be.
