    ‘Apparently’

Because the youth team’s lives are more expendable than the first team’s. Why do people believe such nonsense?!

Surely the willingness and desire to play is proportionate though? Once they’ve won the title then who is going to want to play more? The star players or the youth team?

Why is this difficult to believe consider his team selections in the FA Cup this season?

Because forfeiting the FA Cup is a bit different from forfeiting lives.

I’m sure @Filbert hasn’t taken it seriously or offensively. Moreover, he likely agrees.

But if the Government and the PL deem it 'safe to play' and all that jazz, it's clear that players will be allowed to 'opt out' and you can be damn sure that Liverpool will drop all their stars for all the remaining games after they secure the title.

What would be the point of playing them? 'Integrity of the competition'? Hardly, we've already seen that Klopp could give two ***** about that with his cup lineups. This directly effects us as they play two of our relegation 'rivals' and would render our win over them rather pointless.

Didn’t Wolves(?) get fined a number of years ago for fielding a completely weakened side in the league purely because it was at Old Trafford?

If Liverpool did it for one game, they should get a similar fine. To repeat it again should bring heftier punishments. I will agree however that the PL would completely bottle it given it’s Liverpool.

It’s strange - with every post I make, or reply I give, I find myself with the overriding urge to say the same thing at the end which alleviates all the issues being debated - void the season.

Why would Klopp bother playing his starting 11 when they have nothing to play for? As GD says, he's already proved he's willing to do it. Equally, clubs will be desperate to avoid paying anymore money than they need to, and trust me, it's a lot cheaper to play an 18 year old academy graduate than a regular starter. Do you really think, even a player at say Everton will want to play? Would an 18 year old really turn down the chance to get a match in the first team?

You’re asking me questions thinking I’m going to disagree with you. I’m not. I know what they would do.

But my point is based around things the PL have done in the past by fining teams for playing purposely under-strength sides. And (it may have been taken out) it when they fined Wolves for doing it a few years ago, there was a specific rule that had been interpreted as having been broken.
So once again, if Klopp has said they would do that (which I’m yet to see any evidence of) then it more than calls into question the integrity of the PL - which is what the PL are at pains to keep saying they are trying to maintain, however laughable the attempts to do so.

So in answer to you question ‘why would Klopp bother playing his first XI when then have nothing to play for?’, I would (naively) say at the moment, he would have to - because the rules permit him to.

One point you make still doesn’t hold weight for me though - you say Klopp has ‘already proved he’s willing to do it’...there’s a marked difference between putting out a bunch of kids because you believe you have a packed schedule, and putting them out during a pandemic because you think their health is more dispensable than your first XI’s. Which is why I don’t believe for one moment that J*rgen Klopp has ever said anything to contradict that, as the OP claimed.

Dynamo Dresden team quarantined as 2 players test positive. Bundesliga 2 team, but likely to cast doubt on Bundesliga restart.

Why do all Dresden players and coaches
have to self isolate but just the individuals at Koln? Is it because Germany has federal states, therefore they have different rules? If so it won't be a problem in England, as teams will take Koln's approach

I’d personally cancel the league cup for the year, but I’m not sure how much revenue it brings in.

    I have two questions.
    1. This proposal to play at neutral venues: is every match guaranteed to be at a neutral ground? If there are, say, six designated stadiums would those six clubs end up playing ‘at home’ or not?
    2. Are there any proposals anywhere for the Championship and Leagues 1 and 2 to be played out?

There you go, apparently Klopp has already said he would play his kids when the title is secure, if so how would that be fair to any of the teams who had to play Liverpool at full strength. Especially if any of the teams that get to play against the Liverpool kids are involved either in the relegation fight or the race to qualify for Europe.

Furthermore I would imagine that other teams might do the same if they are mid table with no chance of Europe and safe from relegation. Having said that maybe those mid table teams might just carry on playing their strongest teams for league position prize money seeing as all teams will be losing out on gate receipts etc.

With 2 teams in Germany already struggling with C19 even before tbe restart this is just gonna get more and more messy. What about players marking Dresden and Cologne players at corners knowing they've been in contact with C19 cases. Given the incubation period its likely more squad members of both teams are infected.

So the squad and coaching team safely stashed away in a secure hotel and tested everyday. 3 days later 8 players mysteriously go down with the virus. It turns out that a chef, or concierge, or cleaner, or doorman, or pool attendant, or .... was a very committed AV, Brighton or Muff fan....It's going to happen !

Wrong. It's been made pretty clear on this thread that for the PL, the players will be isolated from everyone including each other. They won't see ANYONE during these times only seeing teammates on the pitch. What happened in Germany can't happen here because we're bloody England and the best.

We'll just have to hope the players can rustle up a sandwich or Pot Noodle on their own.

Ah, ok. The pre-match tactical Zoom meetings with Nige will be interesting, maybe they will release them later to Netflix ("Gaffer....gaffer.....you're on mute") ? Players change at home , drive individually to the game and then burn their kit, having removed it with disposable gloves, post match ?

Indeed and as Kyle Walker and Jack Grealish have proven, footballers can be trusted to follow all rules regarding isolation.
