TBH Liverpool would have done that regardless.

But you wonder how motivated some might be playing a nothing game then with no crowd etc compared to with support they would want to impress and as they like to say get pumped up by.

That’s just an easy claim though ‘Liverpool would’ve done that anyway’ - why? Beyond a couple of cups games this season which their manager explained, there’s no evidence that Liverpool would down tools. I can’t think of one team that has done that in PL history after winning the title.

Moreover, where is this evidence that Klopp has even said this? Given they are one obviously going to be one of the clubs pushing Project Restart, it would be a ridiculous thing to say.

‘Hey everyone, the PL must restart to maintain the integrity of the competition! But when we achieved what we want, we will put out teams that jeopardise the integrity for the rest of you...’

This is how fake news starts - one person claims ‘Klopp has apparently said...’ - but where? Can someone post a link where he has said this otherwise it’s just a nonsense.

You judge the PL on days gone by. You referenced Wolves getting a fine earlier for fielding understrength team. That was 10 years ago.

Klopp will say, as many have before him, 'I have a squad, I'll use it how I want'. Much like we did before we played in the FA Cup this season.

You seem to think that this 'field a weakened side' thing isn't a likelihood when all evidence points the other way. Teams have and will continue to field weakened sides in games they don't prioritise or consider important to the overall status of the club. There hasn't been a fine for this for 10 years. Liverpool have done just that this season and it's highly likely they would do after securing the title.

Ofcouse he will give squad players a go as would as we if our season was "over".

I don't mean play the kids like he did in the cup but those that have been on the bench like Milner , Keita, the swiss chap.

    Probably more worrying Lovern !

All teams have done it after achieving their goals.

Have they done it in the PL this season?

I’m still sceptical. But I guess given the way the PL are pushing this, it’s possible. I’m still highly dubious that Klopp has said it however.

Those players you listed are all players that have played plenty of minutes and contributed to their successes in Europe and domestically. If they decide to pick the players you’ve laid out, then I don’t see the concern about them downing tools.

The German R rate has gone above 1. I wonder if that means they re think the football starting back up?

I do not see any chance of football resuming atm. How Germany thought it was possible is beyond me. What worries me the most is the moment the
Govt begin to even slightly relax the lockdown, the PL are going to leap on the chance to get games going. We need to be as on top of this as much as
possible, vaccine withstanding, before any mention of a restart including behind closed doors is even spoken about.

I see Glen Murray has been quoted as saying the following “He admitted he did not want to jeopardise his children's health and branded suggestions players could be quarantined in hotels as 'far-fetched’

What, realistically is going to stop the bottom six ‘encouraging’ some of their key players to express concerns about playing? For a number of key players within each team (specifically those with clauses about pay cuts in their contracts if their club gets relegated) it’s going to be in their interests to try and avoid a restart as well.

He could be faking being worried about his children so Brighton don't get relegated.

    Wouldn't put it past him.

So In no way can there be any sort of simulation used then. Simulation would be completely unfair, but if you had to simulate then this would be the fairest way to do it, the least worst if you will. So any other method used would be a pre-meditated attempt to manipulate the league, especially if the PPG method has been used for the other leagues.

Tbh it would have been more reasonable for him to say that he's worried about himself - as we already know the risk to children from coronavirus is basically non-existent. However, that would have perhaps drummed-up less sympathy, so he's playing the nonsensical and irrelevant but more manipulatively attention grabbing "won't somebody think of the children" angle.

If the matches aren't played, whatever method they use we will finish above Norwich and Muff (as our records are near identical, plus we have a slightly better goal difference and our head-to-head is W1 D1 F3 A0).

As for Villa, the fact that have a game in hand might count against us but our head-to-head is sightly better W1 L1 F4 A2. West Ham is another matter as we have only played once and we got beaten.

I am still of the opinion that unless the Championship is completed then there should not be any promotions because they would not have been gained on merit and therefore no relegations form the Premier league, even if the EPL is completed.

It's hard to see how Villa's extra game would see them awarded the 2 points and +5 goal difference they need to overtake us. They have 25 points from 28 games (17 from 13 at home) and their current form is 3 points from 5 games.

League one and two are likely to be decided on the PPG method next week, if that’s what the clubs decide then if we end up in that situation and the PL is somehow decided using another method it will be very interesting.

How far do you think they'll go? Maybe they'll say a player has died from the disease only for them to recover after the season is cancelled?

It may have been explained earlier on in the thread but I’m still confused about how votes get in the agenda in the first place.

There was the threat to relegate the three teams in the bottom three if they vote against a restart, which would naturally mean they’d get the votes they needed for a restart... but presumably for the threat to be real if they voted against it then there would have to be another vote to relegate the three teams at the bottom... which presumably would go through as everyone but the bottom three would vote for it?

But how and who decides what is voted for and in what order as surely that’s crucial in terms of what happens?

I’m not sure I get your point so apologies if its gone over my head, but it’s a matter of public record that Glenn Murray has come out and said he’s worried about his children’s health and being quarantined at a hotel seems ‘unlikely’. Maybe it’s a coincidence that he just so happens to play for a relegation threatened team who’s ceo has been very vocal against the restart... or maybe we’ll start to see a few more players from similar teams saying similar things in the next few days and weeks. It would surely hardly be a surprise.

I have to say I did initially think that it was convenient that it was 3 Brighton players, however, I would like to think football hasn't steeped that low. I think Brighton would have got relegated if the season had continued, they were in free fall before the postponement, no wins in 2020, and the hardest fixtures of all the teams at the bottom. I think if it goes to neutral venues then they are dead certs for the drop.

No chance. If - and I very much doubt this would happen anyway - but IF Brighton decided to fake coronavirus results to get the season cancelled, it would be after they had all met up for training. Three players catching it while locked down only goes to prove that you aren't safe anywhere so you might as well go to work.

I saw a report somewhere that suggested (uncorroborated) that the infection rate for people working from home or on furlough was no lower than for people who had gone to work. Anyone else see that?
