I was told some time ago that Watford were in negotiations to buy the Bushey Hall golf course. Initially I thought it might be for a brand new training ground, with housing development to fund the build. Then the club announced they had secured London Conley on a new lease, and the rumours circulated about a new stadium.

Negotiation is one thing, securing and implementing a plan is another. (A bit like the rumours surrounding a redevelopment of the old Clements building in the town centre - people can put together schemes, delivering them is another thing. Plus it all takes time).

If a new stadium did happen, I think it would be a massive boost for the club. The current site has limited potential for developing the non match day business. A new stadium would improve the match day income potential too.

Will the club have to provide pens and paper?

All part of the increased revenue plan by selling such items in the new club shop.

And another unrelated thing I was thinking, would be a good opportunity to have a designated singing section in a good location.

I love Vicarage Road and I love that we have a town centre stadium. I'd be gutted if we moved to a purpose built stadium that was too big for us.

    For people to sign things?

  11. An obvious move, and the right one, to start again at a new location. It was fairly obvious outcome 5 years ago. VR is crowded on all sides and each development becomes increasingly difficult, increasingly expensive, and decreasingly value adding.

I agree. we need to be able to raise funds outside of the TV money and I imagine this is very difficult to do in our current home. Bigger capacity, advertising including naming rights of the stadium improves things straight away

The Lidl Bushey Hall Stadium doesn't have quite the same ring to it as Vicarage Road

Depends whether or not you are dyslexic.
Although I do believe the signers have been known to sing autographs.

True, but after we just announced our partnership with American Airlines, the A.A Stadium sounds about right.

Apart from maybe 4 or 5 games a season, it would be. And that's assuming we are a top flight club.

Hopefully the new ground will have a speaker system so loud that we won't have to talk to each other pre game, half time or afterwards.
    Or a bit like now.

Growing up in Bushey, I find the the idea of 10,000+ people trying to walk through the tunnel on Water Lane then up the hill absolutely laughable.

Especially when it's 3 feet deep in water after a good storm. The old college there was built on stilts as it used to flood so often.

I think that might be The Shay, Halifax, around the time I went there in the 70s. The worst football ground I’ve ever been to, although Stamford Bridge before it was redeveloped ran it close.

Well now that The Athletic has published the leaked images (obtained from a source not within the club) there doesn't seem to be any reason for them not being on here?

Exclusive in The Athletic about new stadium.

"The aerial picture of the proposed new stadium and surrounding area appears to show the location for development on a green site near to Bushey Hall Golf Club — which is approximately 1.5 miles from Vicarage Road."

    Massive news.
