Give it a rest FFS Gray is **** Utter **** Who cares what he did or didn't do tonight for 10 minutes He is our back up striker AND HE CAN'T CONTROL OR PASS A ******* FOOTBALL
I agree UEA - Mings reaction said it all to me as well. What exactly are they suppose to use the monitors for now then? To me, that's the perfect situation. Big moment, possible sending off where he knows there's a handball, what's the impact of it. I guarantee a majority of the time, if it wasn't a second yellow, then that's a booking. Thats what i'm struggling to deal with tonight. We didn't deserve a win, and hope Nigel lays into them, but 1 up against 10 we get at least a point from that.
Yep, it was virtually the same as the incident in which Mariappa was sent off in the reverse fixture.
You don't need to 'notice' it mate, and there's no element of surprise involved; I've made my feelings on Gray very clear on here, in measured detail. As I just said, and in my comment, the whole team performed pretty appallingly, and I like everyone else am not blaming him for the overall loss, but I'm also not wilfully blind pretending he didnt provide more direct evidence in that 10 minute cameo that he is incapable of being a player at this level. My answer, by the way, is that I expect a player to be able to complete a simple pass, for example, in a 10 minute cameo. I'm one of those radicals who doesn't buy into the idea that you have to be on the pitch for 15 minutes or more before you can pass and control the ball requisitely for the level you're employed to do so.
VAR isn't used for second yellow incidents I believe. Unless it's reviewed for a straight red, which this wouldn't have been.
So are you saying that there were NO misplaced passes of the other players in the 80 mins of football where he wasn't on the pitch?. Have a look at the highlight reel.
This is a good point. I don’t think Villa were great, but they certainly had some bite about them. We complain when other teams say they lost because they weren’t good enough, when ignoring what we as Watford did. Maybe this is just one of those games when a team that on paper we are better than out fought us and bettered us? For them this was a “must win or it will be really difficult to stay up”, for us it really wasn’t (despite what some say).
The fact that even his teammates don't trust him with a clear shot on goal is not an argument in favour of Gray being Premier League quality
If he is going to play Pereyra NP needs to play him centrally in behind the striker. He does not have the pace to get away in behind or away from markers. Pussetto should have played there from the start. Always play players in their natural roles. Which NP has until now. The dressing room needs a real lift after that and losing so late after being in the lead. We have thrown away five incredibly valuable points. Losing to Villa is especially galling as they are no better than Bournemouth for instance. We really should have attacked them as if we were the home team. We gave far too much time and space to them and sat on the lead instead of securing the second. GD needs a long hard look at himself. Had he passed back to Doucoure we would have been 2-0 up at half time and with a huge psychological blow just seconds before the whistle.
I don't blame Deulofeu for not passing. The players clearly have as much confidence in Gray's abilities as most of us do.
We lost that when we lost Chalobah/Doucs/Capoue combo, with no similar players to replace them IE Hughes or Cleverley.
Another example of when the rules or use of VAR is to blame rather than the VAR itself although really should have it mattered if it was so clear cut. Why not have it for 2nd yellows ? Just encourages persistence fouling .. I guess we will never know as the refs don't comment at all which hardly helps.
Going to openly admit I have only seen headlines, but what's the big push for them to use the screens recently then? To me that was a perfect example where a screen would be useful.
Well you know my take on officials. I'll let others carry the fight from now on. But an official's decision has had a direct impact on our result, yet again. They've tried to f*** us over with those other soft red cards, but we managed to go on and win. The handball goals in key moments. Yep, we've been royally screwed over in tight important games this season.
For straight red incidents. Not for second yellows. For whatever stupid reason. No doubt the imaginary AI will be blamed again.
For violent conduct basically and it was only used once when there were a draw examples when it could have been used .
Think we may need to dip into the transfer market and buy/loan in a couple of players. Striker wise we really only have Deeney, and Maps at right back is just wrong. Our first 11 with Sarr is decent, but the backup looks weak. Really disappointed with Pereyra, thought he had turned a corner at Muff.
Pearson out ? How many more games does this muppet need ? Typical Santa Claus manager, gives at Xmas , the rest of the year he disappears.
Now we get to see how much of a motivator NP is after a poor performance and result. I do not think he will sulk like QSF did. Nobody played well today, it happens. I hope the lads can bounce back and fortunatly have a bit more time to contemplate what went wrong.
I mean seriously, no player ever says that. If I was Atkinson I would be embarrassed about that decision. It wasn’t something he didn’t see. He saw it. Gave the free kick. Then bottled it and didn’t have the backbone to send him off. thankfully nothing will ever be said of this again to Atkinson, and he will go about his job and it won’t go down as a refereeing error so all is good.
Are you sure you were at the game? To praise Gray for chasing balls for 10 minutes whilst lambasting Deulofeu for providing an assist and running his heart out is wild. He followed his full-back in every Villa attack with a work rate like I've never seen from him. Criticise Deulofeu for decision making sure but he worked God damn hard tonight.
On this evidence Sarr is by far the most important player in our system and we are not the same team without him. However, in our 8 games with NP we went from no hopers to rejoining the pack. We're in the mix, but given our last 2 games and the likely points total required, we probably need around 20 points from the next 12 games. 6 wins 2 draws. It's a very tall order. Let's put the U23s out against Tranmere and make sure we have the weekend off to regroup. Its gonna b very very tight now.
50p says we get a charge from the FA for failing to control our players when they remonstrated with him.
Which is the problem. For all the things that are supposedly killing football, the fact that referees are untouchable is up there. When was the last time one was 'relegated' to the Championship because of a bad performance? Must be years.
