Prodl too. An utterly pointless evening with no advancement of any sort and somehow managing to acquire 3 whole new injuries. I want to see someone executed for the conditioning at our club. Sacking is no longer good enough. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
Why do we have 3 centre halves in stoppage time? (I know we'd used all subs, I mean stick Kabs next to Gray/GD) Would love to see figures of how often we got the ball in midfield and turned back toward our own goal rather than look forward. Foulquier wasnt terrible, but he looks lost and reminds me of Jordan Stewart (not in a good way and not just in a malteser head way). Chalobah is awful. He's a crock and the sooner we face up to it the better. Sarr is the worst value signing in the clubs history. Welbeck is another crock. When your melancholic that Isaac Success is out, then something is wrong.
I know you would be pleased if the club gave Gomes a 5 year extension on the basis the club knows best, but honestly people are just fed up about the incompetent club performance. Dreadful recruitment over multiple windows. No accountability for Giraldi. Re-hiring a negative rejected defensive coach. To your point I don’t care we lost in the league cup. But I’m so frustrated at our continual incompetence.
Think it's the lack of attacking intent that is so frustrating. We could have gained some confidence with some good attack play and chances. Against Spurs we defended and broke well for example so can do it. But instead stuck to the usual pattern and paid the price.
Sum total of our attacking "efforts" after going behind were being offside from one free kick, Gomes pumping another one straight down Pickford's throat and Deulofeu blasting a ball into the defender's legs from about 35 yards. Jogo bonito!
Just seen that Man City are through and we could have drawn them next round. I reckon we knew this was the case and eased off for the narrow defeat. Clever Watford. Very clever.
I think we are in a better spot than numerous Championship/3rd tier campaigns I suppose. But what a waste. And what unaccountability. Giraldi performance has been disgraceful over several seasons. Pozzo as well for his bizarre loyalty.
Ok, positives first.... Shout Box was great tonight... lots of banter and moaning about how utter hopeless we are going forward and looking like scoring. It felt good to have fellow hornets to rant to. Didn't have a stream due to crappy reception but I did hear it on the radio. Doucoure' was good tonight - so was Gomes overall, so was Forquier* (spelling) Fans - thank you for going, sorry the performance was so lacking again... safe journey home. Negatives: Gray…. I do not know what to say anymore. He was very, very poor tonight, he had our only shot on goal, spooned so many other chances and actually managed to backheel the ball to thin air. Going forward we are utterly useless. We have talented players but cannot seem to play or preform as a footballing side. Every time the ball goes up past the half way line - nothing happens. The move breaks down due to Gray mis controlling it or a bad pass. It's like Sunday League sometimes. What the hell has happened to our club? Injuries. This squad is made of glass. Cleverley, Deeney, Quina, Success, Capoue and Hughes all out now. Yes some are back soon, but the stamina they have is pathetic. I cannot blame them for it though, it's the pre season. It was shocking preparation and Gracia and Gino must shoulder it all. Nobody looks fit, or even up for a fight. Forget the cup anyway, as I am glad we are out of it, We do not need the extra games at the moment. People joke about bringing some of the U23's across. but at this rate we might have too. Medical team are competent I am sure, but the muscle stains etc. are all down to fitness levels. We have never seen this level of player performance drop so fast over the space of a year - something needs to drastically change. Sure, some are pushing mid 30's now, and you cannot help the aging process. but we have a decent youth set up - I think it is high time we see some of it. The Performance was dross. Everton deserved it on the balance of play (they hit the bar twice), and they have players who can score goals and get forward. Something we cannot do. QSF set us up like this, but to be fair what else can he do? We do not have the firepower to attack teams, and seeing Prodl literally "walk" back into a defensive position was telling really. I'm worried - I really am. We are going down. Deeney coming back w0n't save us, it's been the foundation of poor recruitment, poor squad transfers and lack of overall ambition to take us forward as a club. It's such a shame. As fans, we do not deserve it - neither do the players really. We have been well and truly shafted this season because of it, and relegation is what the poor top management structure deserve. We need to rebuild, get the youth in, and start again. But we will not be doing this as a premiership club.
Did I miss anything on the shoutbox - any expletives or negativity? From what I heard of the game we’re just devoid of attacking intentions and ideas - and players. Worrying for the next few games - how the **** are we going to score and get any wins we need? Pedro our saviour next year, along with Sarr if he get over his homesickness.
For me its because our approach to the game was very uninspiring we didn't even try and win the game, it almost seemed like we just turned up to make the numbers up, we were never going to score and to be fair we could have easily lost 4 or 5-0.
You could say we played our reserve side tonight. Still sh*t.. The future looks grim indeed. Some fans seem oblivious to our plight. Neville Chamberlain stepping off the plane waving a white piece of paper claiming everything is fine comes to mind. Look what happened next. No confidence in the club hierarchy at all. We should walk out to Free Fallin' by Tom Petty not Z Cars
We are utter dogshit. Firing Gracia was justifiable but not if the grand plan was to bring back Quique. Would much rather still have Javi.
Not quite sure why but Gracia lost the players, Quique hasn’t got a fit centre forward so has had his hands tied as to what he can do. It’s certainly not looking good, however I believe we are better than the two single seasons we had in 1999/2000 and 2006/7 in the Premiership. It remains to be seen whether we can turn it round, all hope is not lost two wins and the whole situation changes!
Yep. Wasn't Smart or G. Noel Williams injured pre- season? I cannot remember, but we may of scored a few more had we not had such rotten luck.
Tommy Mooney got crocked against Chelsea I remember and even Alec Chamberlain had a long term injury!
Hate this team more every game. It’s not the losing that really gets to me but the manner in which we go about it. We never looked like scoring and even Gray’s 1 chance was a complete hit and hope he absolutely thrashed it, no composure and that’s the trend through the whole team. There’s just a huge lack of desire to win, I don’t look at anyone in the team and believe that they want it more than the opposition. Not 1 of these players were brought in because they would be a great fit to Watford, it’s all about making money and it’s really showing now. We have built a squad of multi national individuals, we need to build a team.
I really do miss the unity of our 99/00 squad and before. Everyone won and lost together as a team. More or less that same side won the then National Football League Division Two Title (sucks to be Bristol City lol), totally played above themselves the following season and somehow sneaked into the playoffs with a superb end of season run in, and yes we went straight back down in the Prem, but let's be fair. That crop of players would of put more effort and heart into the current situation. Makes you want to turn back time. God bless you GT
I was at the game tonight and the general performance was fine except...there are absolutely no goals in this team. The first half was very quiet from both teams but there was a strong sense that Everton were there for the taking, if only we would put in some concerted attacks. But we didn’t. Once we went one down in the second half we knew it was over. One other thing: it hurts to say it but Chalobah is a sorry shadow of the player we saw as a 17 year old and even the one that looked a snip at £5m from Chelsea. He is way off the pace required to replace one of our many injured midfielders and I can’t see how he can recover now so long after his bad injury.
Right, that’s it! We need to storm the training ground in a organized protest and confront all the players and tell them just how disgusted we are in all of them. If one of the even smirks we knock him out. We stay there the whole training session and tell them all what they are doing wrong. Then we make them sign a form in their own blood that says they will play with pride, balls, guts and fight. Any player that refuses to sign it, we knock him out. Then we tell QSF our perfect formation and starting 11. If he refuses to listen, we knock him out. Rally time will be Thursday at 10am. See you all there.
Tonight was a perfect opportunity to release the shackles a bit, play a front three and have a little go at another team who are very low on confidence and shaky at the back. Instead Quique set us up for a 0-0. In a cup game. On the plus side for Quique, Quina got injured so he won't have to pretend that he might play him in a league game. We can't have a midfielder on the pitch who wants to create something can we now!
Rehiring a manager whose only managerial skill is to park the bus, was an unforgivable decision and the nail in the coffin for our season. When a ridiculously prolific Ighalo reverted to the mean, we were absolutely useless in our first season back in the PL. We very rightly sacked Quique and went on to bigger and better things. Now, we’re struggling for goals and play Tony Pullis tactics with small weak attackers. We’ve gone back to my least favourite manager of the Pozzo era, as we sleepwalk to relegation. One two -man attack at a time. At least we’ll no longer have to suffer 10 of our players behind the ball for a free kick, when we’re losing in the latter stages of a cup match, for the rest of 2019. Give me Sannino any day of the week over Quique. Walter Mazzari would be a godsend right now. We deserve relegation for the decision to hire QSF alone. Now not only do we have to watch our team meekly struggle to win, we also have to do it watching anti-football and without any sense of purpose or pride. The only thing more woeful than our football at the moment, is the incredibly avoidable decisions which led to this situation.
