I agree with all of this bar the last line. It's September, nobody gets relegated in September. We can still pull ourselves out of this mess and climb the table. I am in no way condoning today's performance when I say this, but I think some of it comes down to the fact we haven't won a game. Leauge Cup aside, this is an awful run of games. Even in 00/01, after losing to the Wombles, Sunderland etc, we won at Anfield then beat Bradford 1-0 at the vic. It's not the same circumstances and totally different teams I know that, but my point is wins breed confidence. The only hole in my slight positivity is when will we get that win?
I think Foster in theory is an excellent keeper. But it's clear that to his benefit and detriment he isn't someone who takes games 100% seriously as he's got older. Losing 8-0 isn't his fault alone, but he is a major feature of our defence. And this is a defence that looks ready to fold under the first attack. Him and Dawson got relegated playing for West Brom. Janmaat did too. Cathcart as well if you want to go that far. You wonder if we have too many "Relegation" mentality players in our team. Our mentaility against Top Teams seems to be that we're beaten before it's started and it shows at times. Today is the first time I am worried we will be relegated.
Sorry, QSF ****ed up big time today. All he had to do was to watch a recording of the cup final and he’d have known not to pick Holebas and Kiko
He could shoot a couple "Pour encourager les autres" but that might be considered a bit harsh.
What have the Romans done for us? .... oh yeah, - decimation - just sacrifice one in ten of the team in front of the others for mutual encouragement It’s the Pozzo way ..,
If it narrows down to the Swansea game (the 8th accountable match of the season) as being thoughts of hope, it really does epitomise the general mood of the fanbase and how poor we have begun
He could shoot a couple "Pour encourager les autres" but that might be considered a bit harsh.
Probably legal in Alabama.
Come on mate he has 2 weeks with a pile of ****. He did alright against arsenal and the players gave up here and our awful recruitment showed. Give him a tiny amount of time to turn it around he isn’t Shitting Gandalf. We don’t have a massive squad of talented defenders to call upon
Not acceptable when you're on £1m+ a year and are responsible for other people's enjoyment. If you don't like that then f.ck off for something else @£20k a year.
We are a laughing stock right now. Tell me, can you this current squad of players form a team and beat any other team in the Premier League? If so, which team?
It might be. But it is still disrespectful. Extremely so. I wouldn't be laughing in the stands after the game. I was during the game at times as it was simply ridiculous, but after? I am quietly infuriated. I understand he's something of a joker in the team, but there's a time and place to joke and time and place to be serious and stop ******* laughing. Saying they hoped to keep it 2 to 3 down is beyond any acceptable mentality at this level. You play to win or minimum draw. Not play to lose.
Why did they give up in the first minute? Delivering a 'get in their faces' mentality is his responsibility.
Good one. If we formed two sides from our Squad it would end 0-0. Played until the fans fell asleep or they all left the ground.
Does anyone remember the last time we let in 8 goals !? It was v Palace in 1959. Apprantley we did get promoted though .
Or shame. Not just the "wasn't good enough, we go again" nonsense. Tell the fans that everyone in that dressing room is ******* embarrassed that they're the laughing stock of the Premier League.
As we have witnessed this since we've come up. We rarely look like we believe we will. We have had some memorable wins but they are at most once a Season if less. A win at home to Man U. One to Chelsea. One to Spurs. Those are the only 3 since we've come up I can remember us winning. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I might have.
I think if they don’t try in the next game we go on strike. Keep silent as fans the whole game A win, a draw or a defeat where we actually try
But to say “no manager can do it” seems utterly defeatist. Perhaps you meant “no manager has done it”? Norwich beat them last week FFS. It must be possible to overcome that psychological weakness.
Perhaps. But in which case we need to identify why we seem to struggle so much. It's not quality so it has to be mentality. So why are we mentlly beaten before games?
He's got to do something organized to turn this around. And this will take time. The team (not just the back 4) have got to be organised so that they defend the goal in a sensible, organized way. This will take time and in the meantime, their confidence and fight are declining rapidly . They also need to be made to understand that fight requires thought as well as physical bravery. Calls for 'drastic' are what supporters do on forums. I doubt you are more pissed-off than me, but what had you in mind?
Just watched the game. Look and see how the players heads go down after the first goal (1min) Zero confidence. After that it was watching a puppy chase a tennis ball around. Bloody hopeless. Oh well, ski season will be hear soon. Watford could down before the snow reaches us at 1,200ft or down before it begins to melts in early spring. You can only hope for hope..
Watch is the operative word here. You aren't paid mega-bucks to turn up and watch. The supporters pay their £100 or so to do that. You are paid to get stuck in and give it everything.
We've beaten Arsenal H and A and knocked them out the FA Cup. Beat Liverpool 3-0 at home to wipe that creepy grin of Klopp's face too.
I agree entirely but just to presume that this can never change strikes me as being part of the problem. Perhaps that wasn’t what you meant?
