Just dug this up (from '02*) - I'm assuming that it was a very long legal battle if it ended up in Europe? *NB Contains "Real Media" files - something I'm assuming will cause the same amount of befuddlement to many posters on here as when my son and I cleared out my mother's attic of my collectables/objets d'art/crap and found my LPs/'12 inchers**' (slighly confused) and cassettes (really confused). **Definitely not photos of moog.
Hi all I hope you don’t mind me jumping in, but wanted to see what your thoughts were on my submissions. Obviously not much can be done from here on in, as I believe a final five are being chosen by a committee of sorts now the deadline has finished. As has been said it’s a very subjective process and nigh impossible to have something everyone is happy with. That being said I hope like these and would love to hear your thoughts.
I think they are all too big. A badge like that would take up half of the shirt. Yes, top one for me too.
Nos. 2 and 3 are the best. Lose the crowns (why do you have them?). Can you show them in mono-chrome/silhouette ?
I imagine them being the size a standard badge would, perhaps you’re meaning in terms of details...? Or how big I’ve posted them (apologies). The crown was originally put in as a nod towards the older badges relating to the Hertfordshire link, without using the stag. Until I decided to incorporate a rutting stag as I liked the idea of including both stag and hornet, adding a bit more aggression that the hornet potentially lost. Making aggressive hornets always seemed too cartoony IMO. Then I liked the crown on top, but not an exclusive part of the design. I can post another day in monochrome, as I’m only my phone and away from home currently. It’s been a fun brief to get my teeth into, whether or not the club actually go forward with changing it remains to be seen. I like what the club is doing and reading the brief they seem to want to respect the fans views.
Can you do one which is more like the third one, but getting rid of the top strip with the hert and moving the ball to the top instead (as per the last one) Or the second one but putting the ball where the hert is? It's not so much that I have a problem with the hert, but I just think the hornet looks like it's being squished by the ball when it's positioned like that. Maybe you could even then shift the hert to on top of the badge instead of the crown? Or just remove the crown, then put the ball on top instead while keeping the hert? The font on the second one also seems as if it could be bigger, perhaps more like the last one.
I love the stag/hart. It really is a nice design feature and adds something 'kinetic' to the design. Going back to the 'Herts' crown - I've just remembered where I've seen it. I've got it on on various Herts RFU badges and ISTR that it's a representation of Hertford keep/castle:
Nope! They all either look like something out of the 1960's or something my 6 year old drew. Nothing I've seen yet has come close, although I'm sure the club have invited professional branding agencies to submit designs too - which we won't see until the voting.
1. Sunburnt wasp trying to retrieve a crown it left out in the sun. 2. Wasp choking on a netball whilst watching bullfighting. 3. Wasp choking on a netball whilst watching a theatre reenactment of bullfighting. 4. Sunburnt wasp playing netball.
Right we are done. Anyone who says that isn’t the best design they have seen and better than what we have is clearly wrong in the head
Looking at the comments on Twitter seems most will vote for the current badge - hope the club haven't spent too much on this project then!
I wasn't sure about changing the badge, but the one shown on the side of the stadium is much better than our current one so it would be silly not to. Def time for an upgrade.
I hope the people’s vote is in 2 stages. If there is only one vote for 5 new options plus the existing badge then the old badge will win because there are so many die-hard no change luddites (no offence) who won’t vote for anything new. So the ‘New Badge’ lobby will be split 5 ways and the luddites will win. But if the 1st vote is for the best of the 5 new designs and the winner is then taken forward. Then the 2nd vote is an ‘Old or New’ straight ‘Brexit’ vote.
I think the above design is a great design however I don't think it will work when scaled down and embroided.
I saw this submission on twitter which appears to be more similar to what you're after: Not bad, though maybe a bit crude. Also reminds me a bit of the Wolves logo.
The new badge is for 'worldwide' marketing and brand purposes right? It's a shame the club see that as the next step rather than not getting the club involved in playing in one of these far flung places they want to grow the fan base. Instead, we play in Austria, every bloody year, at a camp all the players hate and look positively second rate against better teams who couldn't care less about playing us. I mean, even ******* Championship clubs are doing marketing tours now. Championship clubs. Oh and a second string Wolves were beating Man City in a tournament that even Newcastle were in.
It was pretty much Wolves' first team, and it finished 0-0 - including City missing a penalty. West Ham's first team lost 4-1 to City's second string just before that though.
