To have only 4 pages on here after a win at this time shows how apathetic posters on here are to yesterday's match and result. A win is a win no matter if it's away to an already relegated team, I'm sure Bournemouth fans would have liked a similar performance and result also against a relegated team yesterday!
The first was GotS shortlist material. The defenders were mesmerised & the precision extraordinary. Classic playground goal.
They were very loud in the second half & then, after our second, the stadium was suddenly half empty. Without Wagner, they may struggle to bounce back.
Nothing to moan about really though, is there? We won at a canter, and even Success played a part in a goal. I watched the entire game and I can barely think of anything remotely memorable that occurred, beside Geri finishing beautifully and the lesser-spotted Chalobah getting a brief run about, during which he made one nice pass down the line.
An underwhelming performance but a win is a win. Putting that to one side, what a great away trip Huddersfield provides and it’s a shame we won’t be going back next year. Their fans are friendly, enthusiastic and loud, which makes for a great atmosphere and the stadium is my number one favourite. Of all the new grounds that have been built since this one, none have matched its architectural integrity (good effort Brighton) and it’s also perfect for the size of the club and town. You can understand why the likes of Leicester and Southampton went for a ‘bowl’ type design so they could have a 35k rather than 25k capacity but I know which I prefer. Parking nearby was also cheap and getting away easy. On top of all that Mrs Willis and I enjoyed two days in the Peak District in the sunshine. So not just a top away trip, it’s a top, top away trip.
I have been reminded by the great Malteser, that we also did the double over Cardiff, thank you forum friend!
Great trivia potential question: Who is the only footballer to get relegated, promoted, qualify for Europe and get to an FA cup final in the same season.
We have no such thing as a shortlist for GotS. At the moment it must include most of the goals we’ve scored.
I miss Malts analytical stats and record breakers after the games. They usually add a few posts for those who keep count. Hope everything is OK Malteser.
Don't think I've ever seen so many coaches at an away game, were they free yesterday or something? Nice stadium, good fans, nice weather, good beer. Enjoyed the £1 pie on the way out which was a clever touch by the Terriers. Another cracking away day, been a memorable season.
Did anyone notice on Sky News they had the score down as "Huddersfield 1 WAKEFIELD 2" along the bottom!?
No but given the mess up on the Fed Cup result,it appears the person in charge of the ticker tape was eating some very strong chocolate yesterday! Either that or they used to work at The Grauniad!
This won’t fit in with what a lot of people want to hear but the commentary I heard on talk sport yesterday was surprisingly complimentary about us. They mentioned that we had two chances to get into Europe and that players were playing for a spot in the FA Cup final. They said the play was all Watford as we controlled the game and that Delofeu’s first goal was superb. However, they did praise the Huddersfield fans for being vocal despite being a goal down but all I could hear was the travelling Hornets.
