Fair play, he's in his 60's but probably still a better player.

GD the difference (not goal difference !)

Solid win without really breaking sweat it seems .

Shame we had to let one in at the end - typical Watford !

    Up to 7th...

    Yessssss. 3rd gear victory.

I'm setting a Wolves player as captain in FF every week from now on! Guaranteed to go wrong!

Played in first gear. Rather sloppy and wasteful in the final third. Poor decision making at times and delivery.

Capoue absolutely imperious as usual. Success needs to do a lot more to become a PL regular. Ditto for Sema. No injuries which is a bonus and Masina played very well once again. Huddersfield showed why they are at the bottom of the table. Great fans though to stick with the team as they have done.

Disappointed Penaranda was not on the bench and pleasing to see Chalobah back with a nice couple of passes late on. Fingers crossed he can return to the level before the knee injury after an intense summer rehabiliation because the talent is still there. Referee was okay but inconsistent. A couple of their players lucky not to be booked and Hughes got away with one as well. Nonetheless job done in trying to secure seventh spot.

    Well

Shame about the late goal, professional performance although didn’t look like they were anywhere near 100%

Would say everybody looked ok (obviously not including success who came on and then strolled around), good other results for us as well, just need Everton to loose tomorrow to Man U

How long before pundits and commentators can stop calling Deolefeou 'inconsistent.'

He's proven that he's a regular threat to me now.

Success did nothing to change my opinion on Him. Never hated a Watford player more. Sickening footballer.

I suspect today's somewhat leisurely performance was by design of the head coach. Taking the lead so early allow us to conserve energy on a hot day and keep condition up for the remaining games. Somewhat risky, but it certainly paid off.

Once again, other results today went our way. Win our game in hand, avoid a defeat against Wolves and we're in an excellent position to go to Wembley already having qualified for Europe. What a position to be in that would be.

EDIT: apparently Leicester should have lost. West Ham scored at 2-1 up but it was ruled off; however, replays showed the goal was in fact legitimate. Then Leicester score at the other end. Shame really, but at this point our fate is in our own hands.

Boring game but job done. Now in the driving seat for 7th.

Hope Deulofeu isn't now going to miss Southampton. He has very clearly become by far and away our most dangerous attacker.

Excellent win, not gonna get much credit for it, but it was very much a banana skin despite Huddersfield being doomed already, those sorts of games are always the ones you're most worried about. That Grant looks a talent, a season in the Championship would be sensible for him, but I wouldn't mind us going in for him.

Hopefully now Southampton can do the business against Newcastle and arrive at the Vic in deckchairs and towels!

Pleased to get the win against a team who had nothing to play for but pride. Sometimes playing for pride is enough to get a result (like Fulham today). A fairly controlled performance - hope GD isn't too badly hurt - we're going to need him, as Success doesn't seem to be good enough. Hoping that Manure do us a favour tomorrow and suck the life out of the Toffees.

IF we do get into Europe, will it influence any players to stay & how much easier to recruit top talent?

Job done so cant complain, but that game felt like watching the Watford of 2016 under Mazzarri.

IS better start progressing soon or else send him out on loan to the Champ next season. Well below the level required.

If we win on Tuesday night that'll see West Ham's faint hopes of finishing 7th finished.

So the first Deenyless match ticked off with 3 points.

Any win is very good, but it's frustrating when Watford concede with the last kick. Makes the result look squeakier than it was, stops a clean sheet as well which is a shame.

Still, today could have been a tricky one, with a lot of players missing. No Deeney, Pereyra and Holebas. So we've done well by doing a professional job, and jumping up to 7th. Let's hope United smash Everton tomorrow, so we can stay there.

Apparently having his foot iced on the bench and looked to be limping as he went off down the tunnel at the end.

    Ice could be precautionary.
Mind you, given the robust nature of Huddersfield as a team and the slipper like nature of football boots in 2019,it wouldn't be a surprise.

54 points is likely to be good enough for 7th.

Beat Soton & draw Wolves & WHU.

Leicester haven't got a hope in hell. They're a point down on us having played a game more, and their final three fixtures are Arsenal, City and Chelsea.

I agree they're the long shots, but over 3 games anything can happen (and we know first hand how very beatable Arsenal are right now). I'd still prefer they'd dropped the extra point!

This. It's us, Wolves or Everton.

    Remaining Fixtures:

    Everton:

    United (H)
    Palace (A)
    Burnley (H)
    Spurs (A)

I reckon 7 more points max, finish on 53.

    Wolves:

    Arsenal (H)
    Watford (A)
    Fulham (H)
    Liverpool (A)

Pessimistic view again says probably 7 best, 55 points.

Reckon we need six more. Five if we can get that point off Wolves.

If United and Arsenal step up and win what look tough away games, it should be ours as long as we don't implode .

In fairness to Success and Sema, they were instrumental in the second goal that killed the game.

Underwhelming from Ken again up until that point. I don't really understand what type of player he's supposed to be. A very slow, not particularly physical winger? He doesn't even seem to do that much defending.

Still, coasted against an absolutely bobbins team.

Wolves H could well be our Cup Final, ironically.
