I must say my prawn sandwiches yesterday tasted all the better after extra time. Even sweeter as we had some Wolves fans in the box behind us giving it the big’un when they were 2 up. Suffice to say they didn’t stay long after the final whistle...

Just a great great day and can’t wait for more FA Cup final prawn sandwiches on 18th May. Up there with the 99 playoff final for me and ironic we’ll be at Wembley again 20 years on from that glorious spring day.

Respect to Wolves, judging by the crowd shots yesterday they’re the only club in England still sporting a fan base rich in old, fat blokes with dirty moustaches and hats covered in badges.

Wembley looked like a benefit for the former roadies of Slade.

Your faulty

 

This is almost irrelevent to how the game panned out, but I found the way Javi set us up to be interesting. Not really a masterclass in the end, but it showed how he adapts without causing disruption and confusion amongst the players.

The midfield consisted of four familiar faces, but in an unfamiliar shape. It was essentially a 4-4-2 diamond, with Pereyra playing almost as a false 9, and Deeney & Gray splitting wide when their defence had possession.

The midfield "box" went a long way to nullifying their midfield trio, who had probably expected to outnumber us centrally. Unfortunately, from a tactical point of view, it was all for nothing as two set pieces were our undoing, before the boys in yellow set about the greatest comeback in the history of anything.

It'll be interesting to see if Javi employs this system going forward, in games with less riding on them. Pereyra in particular looked more comfortable with less defensive responsibility, and the formation still allows Doucoure & Hughes to play to their strengths i.e. as box-to-box midfielders/playmakers.

 

Breathing just about returned to normal.
In years to come, yesterday will be an "I was there" moment.

Unreal day.

Was with my mum and said at 2-2 that it’s noticeable how this is going to play out.

6 years ago, at that play off against Palace at full time, their fans just kept going non stop, and that reflected in the players who were talking with each other, encouraging and on their feet.

In comparison we were silent, the players down with cramp, and laboured obviously to defeat.

Yesterday, we didn’t stop whilst the players were regrouping at full time, Wolves were shell shocked, silent and down with cramp, lying down in general etc. Our lads were up, and in a way we were literally energising them to give that extra that Wolves didn’t have I think.

I’m a big fan of symmetry/mirroring in films as a storytelling device, and thought that was a perfect one yesterday of the journey we’ve been on as a club and as supporters. Sorry for the ramble!

 

I see they've also all worked out now that Wembley is a soulless dump and that, having taken the mick out of it for 3 weeks, it turns out our singing section meant we ended up louder than them throughout despite being out-numbered.

 

Absolutely delighted for you chaps

Had a fabulous day yesterday - watched the mighty blues outclass Arsenal, made it home just in time to see the semi final (mother-in-law and father-in-law were both at Wembley), and I got rather drunk at the end of a great day.

Special mention for little Geri - always liked him, but that first goal was utterly magnificent. Not sure I can ever remember seeing a goal like it.

 

Read today the government have announced 'Operation Yellow Hammer' in the event of a no deal Brexit.

Pretty sure we inspired that campaign.

 

Having spent a fair bit of time there I’d say the Black Country is a pretty friendly place with loads of chatty people with a nice line in self-deprecating humour.

No one from Wolverhampton is going to claim it can’t be a bit rough around the edges, but I’d wager the proportion of arseholes in their support and ours in similar to three decimal places.

An old uni mate of mine was in the Wolves end. He told me this morning that on about 75 mins a fan behind him had booked the Premier Inn near Wembley for 17th & 18th May on his phone.
