Thanks LBH, one thing that ‘can’ get lost, overlooked or forgotten in the financial machine that football has become is the emotions it can trigger.
I’ve mentioned it briefly on here before, but for me, a Saturday back in 1980-something.. stood on the family terrace with my Dad bathed in glorious sun, hearing the refs whistle cut through Chariots of Fire before the game always stays with me. When I hear that now it chokes me as I think of a lifetime of memories that I associate with it. My dad gave me that, and I’ll never forget it. Those memories are special just like you and your dads, and they’ll always be yours.
Watford is so much more than football to me and I’m sure the same for many others and generations too. Values my dad taught me and values I associate with Watford too: respect, sportsmanship, grace in defeat, effort, determination, success, joy and love.

I lived in Wolverhampton for a while. If the Midlands is the ar*ehole of the World, Wolverhampton is eighty miles up it.

 

Results mean everything so well done to the team and Gracia.

But did we show wolves too much respect changing our starting line up and shape? Hard to know really how well it worked , we won but we were 2-0 down by the time GD came on.

My friend who was a season ticket holder died last year (he had just turned 40), he went to every home game and most away. I used to join him for my once a month game, we had done this together since the early 90s, when we were old enough to go on our own (heading up from Wiltshire). Anyway, I think my mini breakdown when the pen went in was a lot to do with death and that fact that he would have bloody loved it.

I still do my monthly trips, but now I go with 'stand-ins', or go on my own.

Thanks, Toffee. But you should have seen him on Tuesday against Fulham. Unnecessary stepovers where a simple pass would do, dribbles into trouble, no end product at all. He was subbed at half time and lucky to stay on that long.

He's as talented as John Barnes, but unlike Barnes only turns it on one game in four. Hopefully Javi is on his case and he can make the most of his ability as he matures

It's funny you should say that; I noted in the shoutbox at 2-1 that Wolves were in exactly the situation we've put ourselves in during past games: narrowly leading the game in the dying minutes, sitting back and defending deep, taking off attackers for defenders. The scene was set...

...and like clockwork, it played out exactly the same way it does when we (used to) do it. Was struck during my wild nerd-screaming about how poetic it was.
