Doucs is an interesting one. He does give the ball away but he does get the play moving forwards. He is maybe better suited to a 4-2-3-1 line up where he has passing options in all directions when he gallops forwards. The 4-2-2-2 is narrow & limits his options.
Future game reviews this season: “Gray was ineffective, actively passed to opposition players, turning circle of a oil tanker captained by Chris Iwelumo, dived when no one was near him, swore at all the fans, on the other hand Watford 1-0 Everton, Silva cried 10/10”
To be fair to Silva, at least he gave an honest post-match interview https://twitter.com/i/status/1094311404679643137
What a very satisfying day. Thought we were poor first half but much better second half and although they had a bit of the ball in the last 15 minutes I don't think they did a lot with it. I know Richarlison used to go down easily for us but don't remember it being that bad and he deserved to be booed off. The over reaction of the day though goes to Bernard who came on for Richarlison who when tackled right in front of me on the half way line screamed like a girl despite barely being touched. Most people around me just laughed. I felt as though we just about deserved victory and was a vast improvement on Brighton. Not brilliant but we had the better of the chances not that I care that much, it was just nice to turn that idiot over. Foster is fast turning in to one of the best signings of the Pozzo era. Has been outstanding for a while now. The much maligned defence keeps another clean sheet. All four of them were excellent and was it Cathcart who played the ball through to Hughes for the goal? Absolutely top draw Midfield. We have really missed Doucoure and while he wasn't brilliant today he does drive us forward and Capoue looks far better when he plays. If he leaves in the summer I would think replacing him will be higher on the agenda than anything else. Makes a massive difference. Hughes looked better today and certainly puts a shift in but Sema I'm afraid to say just is not at the standard required. We looked far better with GD and Hughes as the wide players with Try and Gray up front. Deeney wasn't at his best today but he doesn't hide and kept working his socks off. Gray actually looked quite decent today, good first touch, bringing others in to the game and in the right place to get his goal Excellent atmosphere from all sides of the ground. I won't talk about their manager as he doesn't deserve any mention I hope those injured in the fight are ok
Er, no it doesn’t. You are expecting Southampton to get 2/3 of the number of points in their remaining 12 games as they have managed in the first 26. Not to mention all of the clubs above reaching 40 as well. There are too many clubs between Everton and the bottom for them to be in any real trouble. It’s between Burnley, Southampton, Newcastle and Brighton, IMO.
It was a great day to be a hornet. It was a mediocore at best game of football. Janmatt played great, Cathcart commanding and Big Ben making great saves when needed. Terrible biased referee as per usual. CROWD was the best iv heard all season. Fantastic atmosphere and credit to the fans for being the twelth man. GREAT goal from us and well worked. Not a match as a specticle that will linger, but the defence played well today and Evertons lack of quality in front of goal saw us through to a huge three points. Personally to us fans it was the victory over the back stabbing reptile that made it ever more so sweet.
Richarlison does come from a very f****** tough background. The thing with Rich is that it has affected him really badly. He's physically strong but mentally and emotionally weak (through no fault of his own). His upbringing would've broken most Watford fans. I think Everton are his 5th club already so he's as loyal as his dad Silva. He'll leave Everton within 6 months of Silva being sacked. Holebas is a Watford legend. His committment is an incredible thing to behold.
I much prefer Foster to Pickford. Fos breathes composure whereas Pick is a continual panic. Saves with his head, picks up an obvious back pass, sketchy distribution. Fos represents better value than £30m Pickford.
Exactly that. It mattered because a narcissistic fraud felt that we were of no value to him, despite the opportunity we gave him at a secure premier league team. A shameless pursuit of money and self gratification that meant that the club and fans wanted to show him what a vulgar individual he is. And we did.
JH is a coiled spring. Because he cares. Amazing how Richie suckers so many refs. So long as they keep buying his Larry Olivier stuff, he’ll keep doing it.
Reads like a Ray Alan & Lord Charles type dialogue. Happily avoided the Grighton & Gurnley elephant traps.
I think we had 6 watford fc players of the season in our squad today is that a record? Foster Gomes Mariappa Cleverley Deeney Doucoure.
Silly arse. The dog was disturbed by fireworks, presumably in celebration of Silva’s demise, and I missed the 15 minute edit envelope, having immediately realised my omission.
I don't think anyone has mentioned the blatant hand ball in the second half by the Everton player, there must have only been 3 idiots at the game who didn't see it, you know when a roar goes up for hand ball it usually is!
In the warm up it was noticeable how comfortable Fos & Gomie were on the ball, & how hopeless Dahlberg was. He can hardly kick it.
Steady on. Gomes, in the nicest way possible is not a keeper you would call 'comfortable' on the ball. I love his throws though.
He was doing all kinds of playground flicks & tricks. Dahlberg does seem more comfortable using his hands.
