How good does that feel? I admit I felt a level of excitement and nerves that normally only come when you're playing a rival. Not that I consider Everton the club our rivals but such was the hope we'd get one over Silva. We have, and it feels great, even sweeter knowing that they had a man sent off after the game. Shows they are falling apart and he is not the man to fix that mentality. Great to see Gray get a goal, and it may even make people more forgiving considering who it was against. Not a great performance perhaps but result was all that mattered and another 3 points towards upper mid table. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Ooohh Andre Gray, He used to be a scummer but he’s alright now. Ha ha slither dry your eyes you greasy fraud. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Absolute scumbags! If they are a club with any respect, their fans who witnessed this attack will do the right thing and tell the police who they are. I hate stuff like this. This is where I capital punishment should be brought back. Stab an innocent man for no reason. You don’t deserve to be considered human and should be eradicated from the Earth.
Stabbing according to twitter? If so I hope the piece of trash responsible is found quickly and spends the next few years getting raped nightly in prison. Everton fans need to do the right thing and step forward with a name. This has nothing to do with football.
Agree with all of this. Hughes was well up for it and showed a lot of steel. The defence was solid and the MOTM must come from one of the back four. It was good to have Doucoure back, but he was obviously and understandably rusty, though even at 80% he showed how much we missed him. The attacking problems persist. We look hopeless going forwards and the goal was something of a freak, as we otherwise created little. Everton were horrible though. For us to be winning against Everton, in second gear, and feeling we should have done much better in many areas of the pitch, is a strange situation to be in. As I said after the last two turgid performances, we're far from playing well and there is clearly an issue with the front players, who have no game plan and all seem to be off form, however, Javi has some pragmatism about our play, and we're still grinding out points here and there, if looking unlikely to go on any sort of a charge. We're on 37 points now I think, so we're safe. Failing a dramatic uptick in form, we're not gonna be on a chase for 7th, but 10th would mark a quite good level for us to achieve, even if it won't be very exciting to get there. As I've said already, the ref was a disgrace. No major match changers awarded, but a consistent bias shown, where soft fouls were given for them and obvious fouls against us, completely ignored. Baffling to hear what Zouma apparently did at full time. Overall, a performance lacking in quality, but our determination and pure desire won through. Deeney and Deolefeou both had bad games, but both worked very hard, despite not a lot coming off for them.
Not a great spectacle - but I didn't think it would be, after all the build up. Terrible first half, great battling performance in the 2nd half. So much commitment from so many players - good old school passion, even if it got in the way of a bit of skill. We looked much more dangerous with Gray alongside Deeney. Silva on 5 Live was pathetic, everyone is against us ... don't think this is a day to criticise Gracia's tactics ... thought today showed a real link between players and fans.
Fair point. It wasn't. A few minutes earlier we should have had a corner but it wasn't given. I think we all know Everton got the rub of green from refereeing decisions toady (putting it politely) - so it s sweet to see Silva using this as an excuse!
Here's a stat from the BBC: Marco Silva has won just three of his 13 Premier League games at Vicarage Road (including 12 as Watford manager).
Watford fan stabbed? If true I hope the perpetrator is caught and banged up pronto. I take my kids to home games and this **** has no place in the game. ****s.
I didn’t actually think the ref was particularly for or against either team. I can’t see how he was biased towards them, but I certainly can’t see why Zouma has any cause to feel even remotely agrieved either.
Well that was satisfying. Rarely does it all go your way like that, but the football gods knew we were due a little bit of justice today. Game was pretty rubbish as a spectacle, but sometimes it's all about the result. Everton were absolutely woeful. They've spent £240m over the past two years to assemble that rubbish. Ridiculous, and just goes to show an idiot owner and he's money easily part. I loved the snake song pre-match and Emma Saunders played her part in announcing Silva before the kick off to a chorus of boos. The Javi song is brilliant and has to now be sung a lot more. I didn't take part in booing Richarlison though. I thought that was a bit unnecessary, but I know it's easy to see him as part of the Silva package. Lee Probert proved he's still a c*** with trying his best to give Everton a foothold in the game, but we held strong. As always we give the biggest chances away in the final minutes. It's a Watford trait but fortunately Everton strikers looked like they were trying to miss on purpose. Capoue missed probably the easiest chance of the match though in the first half. How he booted it over the bar from close range with plenty of time to score is beyond me, but a corner was given so maybe it took a deflection. The right result, the perfect reception given to snakey and everyone goes home happy. Like I say.....very satisfying.
Hopefully the bloke attacked is not in too much of a bad way. I am not bothered about fighting if its a one on one and fair but for a gang of lads to jump 2 people is one of the most cowardly things you can do, hopefully the police find the culprits.
We may hard work of that. Really pleased with the win, as I had convinced myself we were going to mess it up. Not sure I support the abuse on Richarlison,I thought that was a bit pathetic to be honest. He gave 100% percent when he was with us, and we did well out of him. £40m. Based on Richarlison performance today I think £10m is overpriced.
He hit it cleanly but it hit Pickford on the back of the head as he turned away. Keeper knew nothing at all about it. One of those where if Capoue scuffs it or mishits it it's in.
Gracia's confirmed in his post match comments that the winner is yet another training ground routine executed to perfection. I can't remember a season where so many have come off. And it's not like we're one trick ponies. Must be in double figures by now. Javi and his assistants deserve loads of credit for it.
Hope the fan at the end is ok - sounds pretty serious. Shame that will sour a good win. Gray made a difference and earned his goal. Once again the defence held strong and Doucoure made an impact . Not sure we will see Sema much more and GD was a bit ineffective again . Consolidate our 8th place and sent the snake packing !
Agreed. Always had Everton down as a good club (Manager aside) with a good fan base, and would like to think they wouldn't condone someone getting stabbed (if it this was the case). Judging by some of those twonks on Twitter though - God knows.
What else would you have them do? Run into the fray and get (allegedly) stabbed too? Fact is, filming it is the most intelligent thing you can do after calling the Plod. It provides evidence that can be used in a trial and if the wider public get to see the video they can help identify the perpetrators.
Word is, no stabbing. Two Watford fans presumed father and son got mouthy to a group of Everton fans. Six of them beat up the two Watford fans. Older male presumed father bleeding and younger male presumed son was unconscious. From an eyewitness across the street.
