Worth the 18 million for that game alone for finally giving us justice. Can sit down on the half way line in a luton shirt for all the remaining fixtures as far as I’m concerned
The only redeeming feature of Evertonians is that they are obviously better humans than Liverpool fans. In a few seasons they'll be relegated and spend the rest of their days in a lower league wasteland as a footballing irrelevance, their demise bemoaned by nostalgic pundits. I like to think we drove a nail right through the very soul of their club today. God, I despise Liverpool and everyone in it. The very moment the city is underwater, I'll finally get rid of my diesel and start recycling.
By no means pretty but three points that I desperately wanted. Ken Sema is a league one footballer, put GD out wide with Deeney & Gray together up front. Thank you.
Thats the type of atmosphere ive been wanting for ages. Doesnt have to be non stop chanting but when we do, its loud and effective. Even the old folk in the SEJ were joining in with some of the Anti Silva chants. Hate people from Liverpool. Absolute animals, whatever team they support
That was brilliant ! I loved the Sacked in the morning chanting .We didn’t play particularly well( although it was an improvement on recent performance with Doucoure making the difference ) , but I don’t really care tonight as it was so poetic and I’ve been looking forward to that all season . If only he would actually get the sack tomorrow that would just be the icing on the cake! Good goal though !
Presumably you'll now understand why I was a bit incredulous about some of you claiming you shouldn't be favourites today. Wasn't a great game. Watford won the midfield battle on the whole. Believe it or not, I've actually seen us play much worse in the last couple of months than this afternoon, but no arguments with the result. Watford had two really good chances and put one away. We probably had one really good one right at the end, and a few half chances. Not great, but that was more or less what I was expecting so i was mentally prepared. No idea why Zouma was so annoyed though - not entirely sure what we had to complain about as far as the refereeing goes. Few pints required now I think
Also , when Emma Saunders ( is that her name ) with no hint of irony asked us to give a warm welcome to Marco Silva
The football was dire and Gracia has got to start showing he has ideas how to develop it, but, today was all about the result
I didn't think it was too bad. Certainly not dire compared to the last few outings. We actually put some good moves together but they fell apart in the usual places. Not much Gracia can do about Deeney misplacing a pass or Deulofeu wanting to overplay every single time he has the ball. If we could start taking the golden early chance we seem to get in every match, rather than 1 in 10 like we currently do, things would open up more and confidence would come back. My main tactical concern today was how we let Everton boss the last 15 minutes or so. We sat too deep and let them run things. That obviously contributed to the procession of chances and dangerous free kicks they got.
Imagine if we spent our history in the shadow of Luton. Finally however, we got a rich owner, splashed hundreds of millions, tapped up a supposedly talented manager and finally thought we’d be out of their shadow for the first time in our lifetime. Then, we played awful football, had a manager who was utterly clueless at basic aspects of the English game as Luton looked set to win the league for the first time in a generation. I’d be livid. They look closer to relegation than they do to matching their rivals. I would feel embarrassed for them if I wasn’t so happy that people are finally seeing Silva for the limited manager he is.
I did notice that when delefeou overplayed in the second half he at least won a few corners, whereas when he plays centrally we just lose possession . Another reason why he’s better playing wide. To be fair to him though , he did work tirelessly all game , never stopped running, as did most of our team . Thought Janmat had a particularly good game as well he seemed well up for it .
Hard to imagine that afternoon going any better than it did. Watford won. Silva lost. Richarlison got kicked a lot, played terribly and was subbed off. Everton missed an absolute sitter at the death. I love football sometimes!
Someone recorded the aftermath of the attack in the cemetary... https://twitter.com/LewisJDonovan/status/1094291516036657153
What? Why? Because Probert had agreed to help them win the game, but his endless, soft free kicks, whilst ignoring outright assault on our players wasn't enough to secure them even a point? They should be gnoshing Probert off for the bias he showed them. Utterly appalling. If 50/50 is a fair ref, this performance was 80/20. Utterly ridiculous. I haven't seen a worse example of obvious bias since John Colby's team took on Germany at the Colombes Stadium, with an obvious foul on Luiz Fernandez waved off.
Multiple times Deeney, Janmaat and I think Cathcart jeed up the home crowd at the LGT side. They were up for this.
