The FA are a bunch of woefully inconsistent morons as pointed out by JB with the Niasse incident and any number of other dives from Salah, Zaha, Kane, Alli. See also, letting Deeney off for giving the finger to Chelsea fans and Charlie Austin being charged for doing the same to Man City fans. But... there is a difference in the two interviews. Austin pretty much says the officials aren't good enough as they didn't see something obvious. Deeney says that the ref saw some incidents but decided not to take the appropriate action. The former says they're not got enough (admittedly in colourful terms), the latter impugns their integrity. That'll be why Deeney got charged. Some Leeds chap got a one match ban for saying a game was a robbery by the officials. So, I'm guessing Deeney is looking at at least the same.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks. 4 or 6 game ban I reckon, as the FA have given him enough warnings in the last couple of years.
Denney deserves what he gets. I am not even sure it was a penalty after seeing it several times, including in slo-mo. It seemed unavidable to me unless defenders are expected to play with their arms strapped to their waste or something. I can't see how the ref could have been sure it was a pen so accusing him of bottling it just wrong and you can't claim a player tried "to do" one of ours without some sort of sanction. However, the inconsistency by the FA is plain to see.
Exactly. Troy's a good pundit - even though he has never played for Liverpool - but he needs to remember that for the time being he's a full-time footballer and only a part-time trainee pundit
Well it seems Austin has been banned for swearing .. They probably forgot to charge him before and decided to do it now . And ofcouse it's FA Cup time so both might be rested anyway .
I like Troy’s super honest approach in interviews. The problem is that Troy does too. It is a tedious, self serving attitude which would not be tolerated in any other member of the squad. Time to move him back to Brum. At least, Walsall would get their 10%.
There are so many factors involved here and so many angles it is difficult to know where to begin and too late tonight to start. So I won't.
Honestly can't say I have a problem with it. It's really not OK to say that sort of thing in public. I do have a problem with the inconsistency and the fact that players from big teams seem to get away far more than those who play for less prestigious sides.
Amazing what influence Deeney has .. Because he appears to be "thuggish " must mean the whole team are . Yes - GD,Pereyra Cathcart,Success, Sema, Doucoure , Capoue and Kiko are real hard men. Probably left out some ..
Too right. Doucoure and Capoue have been accused of attempted murder and Success has had some problems with alcohol
Which ‘top 6’ players have spoken to the press like Deeney? I struggle to think of one who doesn’t come across as a mumbling inconsequential. All mouthing the banalities which Pep or Klopp, or rather their battalion of pr people, wrote out for them in block capitals 2 mins before the interview. It is fantastic that Deeney thinks for himself. What is unacceptable is that Deeney serves himself & his putative media career so nakedly. I suspect Deeney will be more successful as a pundit over the next 10 years than WFC will be as a club. He’ll be top 10 easy. But he should respect his position, his colleagues, his manager & the fans, & keep his outspokenness for when his playing career is over.
With any luck, he’ll remember his time at Watford proudly and fondly portray an good image of the club. Unlike one of our other favourite sons with his mangled Jamiverpool accent who tends to forget his time in sunny South West Hertfordshire.
Troy hasn't gone on to play for one of the biggest clubs in World football and won multiple titles yet so yes he should be more keen to support and praise us.
Deeney to Liverpool would be an interesting move. His natural place there would be next to van Dijk at the back.
As far as I' aware, his comments aren't about the penalty decision. There was a strong tackle on Cleverley from Gosling near the half way line that I think he is referring to.
I think you're confusing him with Walter Mazzarri. Oh, hang on - it was tactics that he was short of.
He's been fined £20,000 for his comments about David Coote. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...20000-for-comments-about-referee-david-coote/ After Michael Oliver's shameful bias towards Burnley with the giving of soft penalties this coming Saturday, I'm sure he'll be opening an account with the FA and set up a standing order.
Next time he goes off one one we need to make a comedy youtube video set to a britpop classic and he'll get away with it.
Yep, that confirms it then. I was sure that I had seen them all, on various occasions, working in the chippy when I have visited the establishment after the pub.
