Deeney charged

Absolutely deserved that. Rightly or wrongly he thrust himself into the limelight with his Arsenal comments. And when the focus is on you there is no way you'll get away with acting as aggressively as that, I was watching the game on a stream and it looked bloody terrible. Maybe Stokies should have been banned too and it was obvious they were trying to wind us up all game, but Troy is the captain and must lead by example. I was hoping this kind of petulant behavior that was so frequent under Mazzarri had vanished, but I have no doubt Silva gave them all a bollocking for it.

His comments after the Arsenal game were completely unnecessary (even if they did have elements of truth) and deflected attention away from what was a great game and a cracking result. There's a reason most footballers give cliched answers in post-match interviews. What real benefit was there in saying what he said other than riling up Arsenal fans (admittedly quite funny) and players?

His actions against Stoke were also completely unnecessary particularly in injury time when we were chasing a lead. People complaining about him being charged would not be complaining if the roles were reversed and a Stoke player put their hands around Richarlison's neck.

On a more general note I just can't see what Troy brings to this team anymore. He's a completely different player to the one who scored 20 goals a season in the Championship. In those days he used to run tirelessly for 90 minutes and cause endless problems for the opposing defence. Now he's at least a stone heavier, and spends most of the time attaching himself to a centre back and competing for headers - he can be, or at least used to be, so much better than that. I'm not convinced he'd score more than 10-15 goals if he was playing in the Championship now, especially if he was not on penalties. We need to sign a striker in January or starve Deeney over Christmas.

There is only one on the Stoke board making that point (and getting shouted down for it)
He, or she, just made it so many times it looked like others were.

Been a big Deeney fan but am gradually turning this this line of thought. I don't think he's the type of forward needed to fit in the system we are currently playing and while he always throws himself about which makes room for other players, the goals have completely dried up, a big problem when playing with only one striker! I'm also not convinced on his leadership qualities in recent times - he hasn't exactly been setting a great example recently.

If we want to move onto the next 'level', we need better strikers than Gray, Deeney and Okaka. Simple. All good to have as back ups, but we need a better striker that's for sure.

It enhances his "tough talking, no nonsense, says it as he sees it" brand he's cultivating for the media career he craves.

    Lest we forget:

"I am incredibly motivated. I want to take my brand, which is my family, the Deeney name, and make it the biggest it can be. I'm not scared to say that. I want the Deeney brand to be the David Beckham brand."

His late night Twitter tirade 48hrs before the Chelsea game probably won’t have gone down too well either given Silva had a word with him about his ‘Arsenal’ comments. People will either love or hate that side to him - I find it refreshing to hear a player be candid and open, as opposed to generic cliches. But Silva probably doesn’t. Troy can focus on an outspoken career in the media when he’s into his mid-30’s like Joey Barton. For now, I’m beginning to wish he’d just completely focus on playing.

If you're constantly going to act as the fact police on here, at least take a bit more trouble to check them first; there are three on p3 of the thread alone.

Blessing in disguise really. Gray gets a run in the side and hopefully Okaka comes in and stays as second choice. Unfortunately Troy isn't good enough anymore, he can't even win headers or bully defenders anymore.

Say what you like about Gray's work outside the box or his touch, which clearly is bloody awful, but once the ball is put in the box more often than not he is getting on the end of it. Even on Saturday he managed to get on the end of a couple of balls into the box. I'm convinced that having Chalobah and Pereyra in the team will result in him getting more goals as they are the two most gifted players we have in terms of passing and vision.

Yeah sorry for wanting to get things correct.. its a bad habit of mine.

PS Re-read it and still only see one making that point. Actually i read all 9 pages to make sure it was right. How much more checking would you like?

All I know is, I'd hate to be Deeney (or Gray, or Capoue) and have to live up to the exacting performance and behaviour standards, required of them by all the massive achievers on here.

Yes, you're correct - I was led into thinking the others were saying the same by the weird quote within quote layout.
The fact remains that there is a surprising balance across the pages to the effect that Stoke played a fair part in what went on. From where I was sitting, it looked very much like Allen went looking for trouble and probably got what was coming.

Not saying Allen didnt play a part. Looking at the footage they seemed to square up to each other at the same time. It takes two to 'tango' but tbf Deeney took it further.

Someone mentioned earlier that it happened so quickly that maybe something had occurred earlier to spark it off. Maybe it did.. i cant recall them clashing much earlier in the game but then we only see the pics and dont hear what's said on the pitch.

Both clubs now charged with failing to control players too.

Andre Gray has also been charged with failing to control the ball.

I think we all knew the other charge was going to come up for both clubs. To be fair, the FA probably thinks it's easier to do it this way, rather than sift through the video and pick out every individual action.

Also, do yourselves a favour; don't look at the Stoke forum. They seem to be none-the-wiser as to why they're being charged with anything.

That oakcake one? They seem like a decent bunch on there I reckon.

    Sample views on the charges:

"Two men show passion, both charged. Soft game."

"Seems a bit crazy, I've yet to meet anyone who follows any club who didn't quite enjoy it."

    "What a load of ********.
    That stuff was nothing serious."

One of our coaches tried to stop the first bust up tbf.

Surprised neither manager is in trouble as the ref did speak to Silva..

Hopefully Okaka will get a chance. Hes so much more effective than Deeney.

The reason he made those comments is because it always has to be about Troy. I've disliked the bloke for years for that, everything has to be about him.

Could be problematic for us. We were fined £45,000 last December for the same thing so it could be higher this time around.

I wonder if the club pay these fines out of the players bonus fund. I presume very few players pay their fines directly but the club pays them, with some deductions from pay.

Deeney gave David Luiz a real game against Chelsea, especially in the 2nd half. I agree with most other comments but he is still capable. It's just that he doesn't do that in every appearance.
