Happy Christmas to you all (unless you are a sneaky Chelsea fan trying to find out what the secret of our success is).
Because he is 34 and unlikely to be able to play 4 games in 12 days. I have also liked Masina when I have seen him.
Whilst it’s true that he’s an elder member of the squad, he rarely shows that. His performances this season don’t show his age at all and his display at West Ham means he stays in for me. In fact, I wouldn’t change the team at all. Newcastle is the game to rotate.
my Xmas was already made when Sssssslitha got spammed by spurs . Anything from his game will be icing on the cake .
Lots of comparisons to the crazy gang/being super physical by Chelsea fans. Where does come from? We have strong cms and deeney, they are our only physical players
It's most likely a mental block with people who simply can't compute the idea of Watford having decent players capable of playing attractive, incisive football. To be fair to them, with Deeney as the face of our club (Christ!) it's very understandable.
when you have your captain boasting in interview that the entire team routinely foul as part of a game plan, that's no surprise.
When you have enforcers like Pereyra and Deulofeu in the side youre asking to be tarred with this brush.
The loudest Spurs fan at the club was going on and on, like a nun's knickers, about how we bullied them and were over physical. He went very quiet when I mentioned Kane and Alli's challenges the previous season v Man City.
This goes right back to the Taylor years when Watford were seen as a long ball team with no sophistication. Ever since then the so-called experts have refused to give Watford any credit as a skilful footballing side despite the high quality of our goals this season.
Haha! That enormous oaf Mickey Quinn is claiming Luther was picked instead of him for England. He has been corrected several times. Fat fool.
Looking forward to watching this tonight on the telebox. On the one hand we’re playing some great stuff and it’s hard to imagine we won’t cause them some problems. On the other hand victories of those outside the top 6 against the big 6 over the last season and a half is at a ridiculously low 10%. So confident we’ll give a good account of ourselves but it’s still a huge challenge.
Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, Deeney said: 'You take it in turns kicking him. I know no one wants to hear that, but you go; "You hit this time, you hit him the next time", you don't have the same player tackle him because you know you're gonna get booked.' Oh yes he did.
Really looking forward to this game. I reckon we're going to smash 'em. Embarrass 'em. Show off our European credentials. Fire a warning shot to our competitors for a Champions League spot.
I'm fairly sure you're not as naive as you're pretending I'm all for supporting the team, but to deny that we routinely employ these niggly tactics is stretching loyalty beyond reason. For the record, I haven't a problem with the tactic, and I'm certain we're not the only ones to use it. But I still can't believe any of our players would admit to it on national radio.
First game for me since we demolished Liverpool 3 0. So excited, going to the Vic is the closest I get to a religious pilgrimage. I never miss games, either listening online with 3cr or streams but being in the Vic is special. My love of Watford Fc, apart from family and friends, is one of the few constants in my life. I lost my dad this year who took me to my first game in 1976. I was with him in hospital when he died and we could hear the crowd next door. He wasn't really aware of much, but he smiled when I told him we had beaten Newcastle 2 1. I'm in the Rookery today, so expect it to be a little bit louder than usual. COYH!
Enjoy. For you and your dad, (as my dad also took me to my first game) I hope you see us win. And safe journey home to - Italy?
