Dorset's a really "odd" place to watch footy on TV away from the "touristy" (about 99% of them) pubs. You get a mattering of diehard "big name club" "all my life" supporters but some really unexpected ones such as a group of Smoggies (all locals from Poole) and the weirdest ones for me a group of Dorset Grimsby (something to do with fishing crews) fans (who also "supported" Villa, Us and Wolves because of Taylor's Grimsby roots)...
Which board were you looking at? The fightingcock? If so I must have been reading it wrong. For everyone giving us credit, it seemed another 5 were calling us bullies and had an irrational hatred for us as a whole.
The Philly character would seem to be American. Only Americans (& Australians) refer to a sports team in the singular. As an American Spurs supporter, I would venture that his views don’t count.
Crowd really starting to help with this, referee's can only given so many bad/wrong decisions before the constant grumbling gets to them.
I posted this in Pereyra's thread but thought some may not see it. What a guy. https://twitter.com/jshhornet/status/1036345155761135617?s=19
The name is suggestive but not conclusive. Could be an English expat. Or named ‘for’ the cheese. I would give more weight to either of these, especially the cheese guy.
Nah, been supporting Watford far too long to have such an upbeat outlook. I am still in the camp that thinks "one step closer to safety" after every win, even during a start like this.
We can't be complacent. The gap to the trapdoor is only 3 points. A couple of poor results and we will fall through and be out of the Champions League places. We still have much work to do.
Did not read a single word but let me have a guess: - something about how he always knew Gracia was the right man for the job so was right all along (despite his posting history proving otherwise) - something boring and irrelevant about spanish teams - a load of made up nonsense into the character of Gracia, as if he knows him on a personal level - full of tired clichés. I'd hazard a guess that he's calling our good form a "revolution", or something equally tedious - subtle bragging about how popular he is on here. How did I do?
As daft as this sounds, it if was any season bar this and the last one I'd say it wouldn’t be out of the question. Man City and Liverpool are just far far too strong for it to be a possibility now.
Refreshingly honest post match interview from Pochettino. " I cannot blame the players for this result, they did everything that was asked of them. Sometimes you have to look at the opponent and say "That could have been much worse. 2-1 is not so bad" "Our fans understand that our season will not be judged on results against Watford, who have better quality in all positions and more on the bench. We are slowly building a team that will be more competitive against these teams, but it does not happen overnight." "In this moment we will not get disappointed by this result."
That is exactly what I'm doing. I've been going far too long to start thinking about anything else because as soon as I do they let me down. This is bl00dy brilliant at the moment though. Love beating Spurs but it's been so long I had forgotten what it felt like. Anybody else slightly annoyed that the year we win our first 4 games 2 others do the same and we're only 3rd! Any other season we would probably be top.
I can't help noticing how opposition managers this season seem puzzled that theit teams didn't play better against us. Well, as my old Irish father used to say, "You only play as well as you'te let."
From Football 365 again: Winners Watford Winners of the first four top-flight league games of the season for the first time in the club’s history, those of us who assumed Watford might flounder under Javi Gracia just because we would struggle to pick him out of a line-up even if he was wearing an ‘I am Javi Gracia’ badge feel rightly silly. Football is at its most wonderful when it surprises, and boy are Watford surprising us all. Beating Crystal Palace, Burnley and Brighton is one thing, but coming from behind to beat a Tottenham side with a 100% record and who had just beaten Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford is something else entirely. This victory epitomised the hunger and team spirit that Gracia’s team now share. It is not always the case at Vicarage Road, but the stadium was jumping. No Watford supporter is optimistic enough to believe that this heady run will continue. This is a club where the mood can change with the seasons and managers come and go just as regularly. The last boss to reach 100 matches in charge was Aidy Boothroyd, and he left in November 2008. But there has been a quiet revolution at Watford of late, one which rails against the supposition that this is squad of players who merge into one, a transient group either passing through or pushed from Udinese and Granada. The matchday squad on Sunday may have contained 13 different nationalities, but it also boasted six players aged 25 or under. The club’s last ten signings have all been under 25. Gradually, Watford are reducing their average age and creating a long-termist picture at the natural home of short-termism. Gracia is the unassuming circus master training them to perform.
If you didn't read it how did you know it was spot on?! At least that poster has enthusiasm about the team, rather than the usual whining/ironic humour we're are used to from your good self.
Man City have been found out. Liverpool will choke as usual. Man Utd are imploding under the weight of Mourinho's misery. Looks like the title will be a straight shoot out between us and Chelsea
Abramovich is off I hear from my sources. Not sure if it has been reported. And looking to sell. putin wants him to go govern Siberia (I wonder what he did wrong to deserve that) Hopefully could unsettle them
Good to have you back. The forum was getting a little too matey matey. Always good to read your opinions even if the way you put forward your views is often seen as confrontational by others. You need to accept that you're going to get criticism and p*sstake and not take it so personally. Half of it is tongue in cheek anyway and you can see from the likes that your post got that the vast majority want to hear what you have to say. Your knowledge on the Spanish leagues and potential targets is valuable and was missed this summer. We know almost nothing about our new signing Alcacer ! Now, where's that Reids bloke.....?
No reason to fear Chelsea now that Batshuayi has moved on. Excellent that you made no mention of @rsenal. Their new guy seems that a Wenger tribute act.
