    Palace aren’t our rivals.
No matter how much sky want to make them.

Luton will always be our rivals - but whilst they are utterly utterly **** I’ll take Everton because of that **** Silva or muff because of that Lego haired **** Howe.

Palace are SIMILAR in size and stature but their rivals are Brighton - because they are Nigels scared of other proper football teams like Millwall and Charlton. We are miles away from palace

Palace one of those teams that have lots of 'friends' in the media. Much like West Ham. That's why the Zaha thing has been hyped up so much...

I think you're being incredibly unfair to owls and if Kelso were sober I'm sure he'd agree.
    Otherwise carry on!

That's the one thing I truly hate about being a Watford fan.

    Our rivals are Luton.

    Fricking Luton.

They're so pathetic they even manage to spoil the whole concept of having a footballing rival.

Can you imagine Man Utd, A.C Milan or Barcelona having someone as ***** as Luton as their rivals?

We desperately need to cut them loose.

We could have a renouncing ceremony by the GT statue?
Perhaps the PL have an 'Adopt A New Rival As Your Present Rival is ***** '. Similar to the WWF but without the cuddly toy animal, although we might get a cuddly owl/Woy instead?

It's our fourth season in the Prem.

    Haven't we earnt an upgrade?

Especially as the Bedfordshire mob look as though they might be back down to the 4th level.

Awesome idea!!! Can we actually do this?

That said, are Palace really that much of an upgrade?

    Possibles;
    AFC Bournemouth
    'Crystals' (as Gravy would say).
    Welwyn Garden City.
    Udinese.
    Harpenden LTC.

Where is Kelso? The last posting I can recall came from a pub in the Scillies about six weeks ago. Has he adopted some sort of Robinson Crusoe lifestyle? Who is his Man Friday?

If Sky are trying to engineer a rivalry between us and Palace then we should not take the bate. A true rivalry is organic and should evolve over a period of time. There are similarities between us and Palace and we have met regularly over the last decade or so but they already have a rival and they are now in the same division.

We’ll just have to wait for that lot up the road to sort themselves out.

What we desperately need is a trophy. Until then they can rightfully howl with laughter at us, safe in the knowledge they are a more successful club than us.

It's a very unpleasant truth, so I suggest everyone gets themselves to reading, gets behind the boys and prays we put out a strong side.

If Capoue wanted to hurt Zaha by stamping on his achilles, Zaha would still be in Watford General. This is not what happened unless you have Wilf tinted glasses on.

    There is a worse challenge every week in the league and palace fans saying we'd be up in arms if Pererya was injured for 3 months fail to see 3 very important problems with their crybabyism;

    Wilfie wasn't injured.

Pererya WAS injured by a WBA thug in 2016/17. Capoue is no James McClean.

When your argument falls back on opinion from Souness and Crooks you need to re-evaluate.

Well, Sunday certainly had the feel of a local derby, on and off the pitch. And Watford is nearer to Palace than Norwich is to Ipswich, even if more difficult to get to

Quite often myself and my son can't get seats together as there are only a handful dotted around the ground even though we get first pickings. We often buy seats apart and can always sit together in unused seats. On "popular" games we buy restricted view tickets and still get to sit in decent seats, madness.

I'm living in a world where I hate just about all other teams, at some point in the last 30 years somone in a fulham shirt or a wolves shirt or a palace shirt has annoyed me or one of their fans have been a ****.

Probably comes from Luton being way less than our equals. Lets not get carried away making palace our rivals, they beat us 2 times recently at wembley and it would be stupid to enter into a rivallry knowing that in advance. Just hate everyone, it's fun.

Maybe they’re on holiday? It’s their season ticket to use as they wish. Either way, categorically not ridiculous.

Of course not - it’s Spurs innit :)

But really everyone needs to chill out about unused ST’s....did anyone miss out on a ticket who wanted one? There were plenty unsold. I miss probably 4 matches a seson, generally give them away or I think once I’ve sent back to be resold. Once or twice a year, like Sunday, I don’t manage to do either.

Have a couple of young kids who I think I’ve done well to get them into Watford rather than one of the “big” clubs which there school mates support. I’m not making them suffer by sitting in the rain for 3 hours

Their forum is the gift that keeps on giving. One of them is urging their fans to write to the FA to urge them to ignore their usual rules and ban Capoue, they're all convinced that the world's nicest man Javi Gracia sent Capoue out to deliberately injure Zaha, and another one said that Puncheon's tackle on De Bruyne wasn't deliberate or malicious, just clumsy.

What none of them seem to appreciate with their incessant moaning about how bad a tackle it was, is that Zaha was absolutely fine. Not limping, didn't need to come off, not going to be out of the next game. Capoue did what he did, and it resulted in a fleeting moment of pain. That's all.

Christ there are enough complaints about the atmosphere at the Vic as it is without signing at the opposition, apart from anything else (unless we are aware they have a significant deaf following) it would just be a bit odd. That said complete silence and hand waving for a bit would certainly confuse them.

Yes, that would just about serve us right, wouldn't it. It'd be payback. One of our players out for 6 weeks in return for a foul from which Zaha was able to leap up immediately to conduct the bug-eyed, stooping and wildly gesturing pantomime of outrage with which we're all so tiresomely familiar.

Grizzling is a great word isn't it? "To complain; whimper; whine" says the dictionary. And it perfectly sums up Crystal bloody Palace and a sizeable portion of their fans. Absolutely classic displacement of course. Even Hodgson has shamefully seized on it like a drowing man to a piece of driftwood. How to avoid facing up to the fact that your mediocre team of also rans got shown the way home by a better team, with better players? I know - a foul in the 4th minute of the game! That was the reason. If it hadn't been for that foul, we'd have run out easy winners. Yeah, definitely.

It's a theory as much based on fantasy as the suggestion that there's been even the slightest breath of any racism on here.

But if it helps you come to terms with your beating and your return of zero points. If it helps you compartmentalise the defeat in your own mind. Then who are we to disagree.

Yeah but it's the potential damage that matters. Capoue could have severed Zaha's leg with that tackle. He'd have died in agony from blood loss in the middle of the pitch while clutching the remains of his lower leg, all while the nasty Watford fans laughed at him. When you consider that completely imaginary and patently ridiculous outcome, a red card was the obvious punishment.

And even if that didn't happen, just a couple of inches lower and Capoue could have flicked Zaha's boot clean off his foot. While still tied! He'd have been out of action for nearly 30 seconds undoing and retying his boot laces. It's that sort of disadvantage to Palace that's being totally overlooked here.

My 2 cents - I thought the Capoue tackle was a bit clumsy but Zaha didn't really make much of it in honesty. The fans calling it assault are hilarious, just bitter because they lost to the better team. Palace fans are always like this though, always the victim. Just have to ignore it frankly because they won't stop winging.

My weekend with the offspring and I don't have Sky so purchased a day pass on Now TV to watch the game, had a happy son and miserable daughter, oh well she'll get over it.

Was it my imagination or was there a clear updated shot of egg and chips boy (now man) on their coverage? I can't go back and get a screen shot even if I knew how, anybody else see this that could supply some evidence?

I couldn't make yesterday's game and not having Sky or BT I caught it on a stream on NBCSN.

I honestly think being there yesterday even in the rain (and at least it wasn't cold - anyone remember that miserable New Year's Day vs Spurs in the driving sleet?) and seeing the boys notch their third win in a row against one of our biggest bogey teams would've been more enjoyable than listening to the bollox of Andy Townsend (how on earth did he land a job there? God help them) and co laying into Capoue and our team for being over-physical and intent on nothing more than stopping Palace, and salivating over our lofty opponents playing "all the football".

People like these so-called experts seem to forget football is a game of 90 minutes, against a team we have such a crap record against and whose pace we have had a problem dealing with it would be ludicrous to think we could win by outplaying them the entire match. We weren't great in the first half but yesterday's game was similar to several home games under Gracia, like Everton and West Brom last season - it was a case of feeling them out, adjusting to their strategy, noting their strengths and weaknesses while defending well and gradually developing chances of our own which we did towards half time. Better than starting like a train and then losing the game due to tiredness and/or complacency.

I'm not going to get too carried away after just three games after remembering the disappointments of the last three seasons after bright starts, but this time I think we have genuine reason for optimism. We have a team back to full strength, key players (Pereyra, Holebas, Capoue) have much improved, I think Foster is a better goalie than Gomes, the defense looks a lot better than even this time last season, we've got the away monkey off its back, and we have a manager that looks the real deal with integrity who has adapted commendably quickly to the hurly burly of the Premier League. The only real question mark is up front (just two goals from our strikers, and Richarlison gone) and the real test against better opponents is yet to come, but you can't argue against 9 points and 7 goals and the manner we've achieved it, compared to only two points and no goals (and two sendings off!) against the same opposition last season.

    Happy days indeed.

I miss them both for different reasons but Kelso is a worry given his apparent propensity for a good drink and being able to create an argument from nothing in the aftermath.
