£10m bid made according to The S*n. I'd add the link but it's The S*n. I'd suggest it was true but it's The S*n.
I don't think he's anything special, Saints fans have never really taken to him. He's one of the best set piece takers in the division though, so I'd sign him on that alone
Bit of a random one to make up though, if there is no substance to it. The article only links us, no other clubs
Hmmm not sure. One of those names that has been around for a while but never really kicked on. Struggled to get a starting place in a struggling Saints team last season. Not really sure what he brings to the team other than dead balls.
Talented player. People not so sure about him? He's far more experienced in the Prem than Hughes and they are the same age.. We'd have to get rid of someone like Capoue though and I can't see that happening because Javi seems to like Etienne
Hardly a position of pressing urgency but would be happy with this. I imagine the club want a striker as we all do but it seems they are prioritising a midfielder over a CB. Would be happy to get Ward-Prowse in for anything under £15m but I’d be shocked if Southampton let him go. Very talented player who perhaps needs a change of environment.
The Sun misunderstood what they were told. The club actually went to Watford General for a Main Ward Browse, interested in buying one for 10 million. It'll give the medical team somewhere to put all of our the injured players.
Not a goal scorer. Typically the type of player that likes to create. Would probably label him a playmaker as he's the type who likes flowing, passing football on the offense. I think his link up with Hughes and Doucoure would compliment the midfield very well. This flowing football would suit Alcacer to a tee if he were to join as well
That's the problem. I think dropping Cleverley would be unecessary because he is a work horse who keeps the midfield bolstered during times where injuries are rife and players become fatigue. Say we dropped a winger instead, it would mean we have a large midfield selection and I can't see the benched midfielders being particularly happy. If those Alvaro Garcia rumours are true, it would contradict the idea of dropping a winger since we'd have to loan out / sell two - unless Success and someone else are on their way out
please no. the guy is awful, living off of his set piece ability, other than this ability he is a complete downgrade on everything that we have already. would be our 5th choice CM and he hasn't got the pace to play out wide, also would be our 3rd or 4th choice winger.
Perfect to slot tidy through-balls to our non-existent strikers, and to be absolute powder-puff when attempting to make any tackles that will prevent the opponents from getting at our ramshackle defence.
I'm not sure about him but we do need a stronger bench. And it might be nice to have somebody who could deliver a free kick or corner to another Watford player
Wobby picked up the story now: http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ke-10-million-bid-for-southampton-midfielder/ Would be an okay squad option. It must mean we expect Chalobah and Cleverley to be out for a while.
Anyone who can take a corner/free kick is a massive upgrade. We probably have the worst set piece takers in the division
It’s not a problem though because i) It’s a squad game now. Rarely does a team play the same XI two games in a row anymore and ii) Our injury history more or less guarantees nonselection dilemmas. Don’t get me wrong, there are other areas of the squad that need more attention but if the club are adamant at looking at the midfield, this is a good and reasonable type of target.
We are absolutely shocking at set pieces, so he would give us something extra. Unless he gets crocked (very possible), he'll retain a good resale value too. As long as it doesn't stop us bringing in a striker, it's a good bit of business.
That same person is also the worst Left Back in the league, worst defender, and worst player in the entire league. In fact how the hell did Holebas ever end up a pro footballer.
