I've watched nearly every game so far and without my rose tinted glasses on I have to say last nights official was by far the worst I've seen. You can have all the technology in the world but if the man in the middle is inept then it's no help.
VAR was working ok till last night and has been used quite quickly so the game isn't held up for too long but clearly something went amiss. I understand the idea is the VAR crew look at all incidents and suggest any the ref should review but for whatever reason that didn't happen . Also we have seen it used for debatable decision rather than just "clear cut errors"
It would be nice if they came out and explained the non penalty decisions against Kane because I would say neither was debatable
The VAR officials are different each time so I suppose they too can be good or bad the same as referees or linesmen. By the way, just to emphasise on the ‘clear and obvious error’ thing, this does NOT apply to offsides. (I didn’t appreciate this until just before the tournament.) VAR on offsides goes right down to hairline decisions, the same as with goal line technology.
Anyone spot the Senegal manager is wearing the same watch as Marco Silva? Rumours that he will jump ship and be managing Nigeria by the end of the group stage have not been quashed
FIFA to investigate VAR non use from last night .. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....ilure-var-award-harry-kane-two-penalties/amp/ Probably find us at fault somehow !
Classic Niang - just been rolling around on the floor, injured and goes off for treatment. Trots back on just as a wayward pass goes back towards the keeper - runs like a greyhound with no sign of his injury and gets there first to tap in to an empty net!!
I think he got the signal to come back on - it was the shameless writhing in agony on the ground to sprinting like Usain Bolt within about 30 seconds that amused me and - rightly so - angered the Poles.
Did anybody see that documentary on BBC2 the other night - Managing England: The impossible job? You can watch it on the iplayer: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0b7jcqv/managing-england-the-impossible-job And for those outside of the UK that can't access that, somebody has uploaded it here: http://eplfootballmatch.com/managing-england-the-impossible-job-bbc Of course it features our own GT, albeit in archive footage (and Bobby Robson). Interesting (but not surprising) to hear that Allardyce believes he did nothing wrong! Also fascinating to hear Shearer say that during Hoddle's spell in charge, he was still better than some of the England players - much to their annoyance. Well worth a watch if you've got an hour to kill.
I have to say I didn’t like him initially in the Croatia Nigeria game, but Ally Mcoist is really growing on me as a commentator. Pretty no nonsense and says it how it is.
If he's not careful, Kane will find himself on a glass mountain with moccasin slippers........ http://www.skysports.com/football/n...as-poor-in-england-world-cup-win-over-tunisia I actually agree that Kane didn't play great - yet he scored two from two and was the match winner so you'd take that type of record in any team. If only our strikers were as clinical!
I find it helps to remember that he played for Sunderland against us when we whipped them 8-0 - I'm sure he developed his sense of humour in that game.
I dunno I’m sick to death of the bloody vuvuzuelas already. How did we put up with those for a whole World Cup? Seriously Iran your about 8 years too bloody late.
Both Morocco and Iran certainly did themselves proud against the big boys. With a bit more luck could have drawn.
The curious thing about vuvuzela’s is, has anyone ever met anyone that actually enjoys them? They infuriate anyone I’ve ever mentioned them to. And surely you’d want to swing for anyone who constantly blows the bloody thing next to you in the ground?
Lee Dixon is really rocking the Tramp-In-Biscuit look which, I believe, is very popular with ****-wits everywhere. Are there no irons in modern day USSR anywhere?!? At least the groundsman is hosing him down!
I LOVE vuvuzelas. The noise in that stadium was exceptional. Our 1881 could never dream of creating such a wall of buzzing!
I know **** all about football, and that's the team I would pick, so it's hardly a startling revelation.
Well whoever plays shouldn't really matter as we ought to win.. Sure we will make it hard for ourselves as most of the big teams are !
