Can I call him something like Mattheus Klarksbjerg with a load of frigin umlauts? If so it’s a ‘yes’ from me.
Super super matt, super super matt, super super matt super............. now where have we heard that before
Never heard of him. Assume he is from the Clarks shoes empire, if so he is presumably in it for the sport rather than the money so maybe a cheap addition to the squad, if so great, if not then I have my concerns.
Th Indeed he is, one of many the Clarke’s sons but not to be confused with the car journalist branch of the family. My source in the cobbling industry suggests they are about to release an unfashionable, sensibly named and assuringly comfortable football boot. It’ll probably be plain black, with a descrete logo, assembled from sturdy leather with the left and right boots being the same colour. If Matt makes it in the Premier League,1 or 2, he’ll be the poster boy for the advertising campaign.
Linked with Clarke once again in the Daily Mail amongst some other teams. I hope he's one of the 'other options' we are pursuing instead of Wilmot.
Linked with another young centre back. My sources suggest this is further proof we may or may not be signing a young centre back.
He's played over 100 games and he's still only 21. Plus he's a unit and a lefty, I'd say he's a better choice for us if we're looking for someone to challenge for a starting place next season.
We are linked with <insert some young English player we will never buy> from <insert tinpot team from lower league>. Shows how far we've dropped. Bring back Angella and Eggstrang. He gets no wows.
"though Matt Clarke was the best player on the pitch. He will go in the summer, but good luck to the lad - good enough to play in the upper echelons of the Championship, if not the prem. " "- Clarke is outstanding. He just oozes class, never in a flap, worth millions. Give him a new contract with a release clause of at least £5 million. He'll be off in the summer but no-one should hold that against him." http://thepompeychimes.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=77402&p=883821&hilit=clarke#p883821
SOK, it is a million to one shot that this lad is part of the shoe dynasty. Your odds aren't improved by the fact he spells his surname differently. Would he have changed his name from 'Clark' to 'Clarke'? If so, it suggests he is mildly eccentric. For that reason, I'm IN.
Have we have any socialists in the squad recently? Beppe clearly had a social conscience. Ekstrand? You never know with Nordics.
RD, I generally don't allow facts to cloud my judgement in these matters, prefer to think he is the black sheep that has turned his back on cobblering to follow his own path. Still no idea if he is any good, should probably look him up before posting on this thread but a little knowledge can be dangerous so I am staying purposely ignorant on this matter.
I admire your approach. You may well be right with the black sheep thesis. And, to thumb his nose at his cobbling cousins, he changes his name in the most minimal way. This guy is a MUST.
If the Clarke camp are inviting Gino to make an ‘astronomical’ offer, I suggest his agent is no student of psychology. Will this lad be pitching up at Colney on the last day of the window at a more terrestrial price?
Football London is like HITC, only without the ITK clout. I'm always surprised that someone remembered to delete all the 'um's and 'er's from their atricles before they get posted.
Astronomical offer! That could be 3 million to Pompey. Desperately need a left footed centre back though
Isn’t he a centre back? That’s just 2 minutes of dribbling and goals. Looks like he’d be a better option up front than anyone we’ve got now.
