Buzzing for this game. It has a feeling of a real ding dong derby about it. I can see our rested players breaking loose and destroying Bournemouth with a memorable performance. We're solid at home under Javi and I expect the players will want to take the chance to put Liverpool and arsenal behind us. We're gonna win. Give me an "oi oi!" If you agree!
I'm looking forward to seeing evidence of all the stuff that our players say they will have learned from the Liverpool game - i.e how to run faster and think more quickly. In short, how to become a Premier League standard player, when just a few weeks ago they were quite clearly Championship quality at best.
! Same league as: My Dad swore by jam with kippers! Seemed a sane man to me, but...? (And he helped win WWII, but I never heard him mention Bournemouth).
I refuse to consider Muff as a derby game. They cannot think of us as a derby either - having south coast rivals in Southampton, Portsmouth and even Brighton.
You wot mate? This IS our Derby and it is for Muff too. Have you forgotten all the history between the clubs? Bushey Arches where we ran them. The incident with the corner flag. The historic wins at their hovel. Just hope no one gets hurt today
Incredible as it may seem, Brighton is nearer to Watford than it is to Bournemouth. As the crow flies Watford to Brighton 59.1 miles. Bournemouth to Brighton 77.1 miles. Amazing, but true.
If we’d had VAR, those decisions wouldn't have stood and the rivalry would be non-existent. As it stands I hate Bournemouth just as much as the eejits who invaded the pitch at the end of the game against Sheffield Wednesday.
Massive game. We've got an easy run in, win this one and we're set for a good finish to the season instead of the usual limp to the beach. Would like to see a bit of Lukebakio in the last few games if Carrillo's not going to be here next season. I'd imagine that Carrillo's main objective will be avoiding getting injured before Peru's first World Cup in a generation rather than trying to help us finish 9th instead of 14th...
OK so only Portsmouth and Southampton thenfor Muff. But Bournemouth did not even exist for us till they pipped us to the Championship title. They are a nowhere club. Blimey - a few years ago when Reading had a good spell people were touting them as our derby team. Stuff and nonsense. Our derby is L*t*n even if they are not good enough to meet us any longer. At a pinch QPHa are the next nearest to a derby team as our history with them goes back to the sixties. But Bournemouth - who are they? Important game - yes - but derby - no.
Also they are about the same size as us and we have played a lot historically at about the same level. You youngsters probably too young to remember the old days of our derbies in the lower leagues that’s why you feel they aren’t our rivals anymore. They have and will always be though for many of us true fans
I was going to suggest you are the youngster as my support goes back to the early sixties. Palace, QPR, Swindon, Coventry were the teams we fought against. Bournemouth have spent well over half their life in lower divisions than us. Indeed they only reached the second tier towards the end of the 80s - 20 years after us. They spent far more time in division 4 and have only just reached the top flight. Even back in the days when we were in the same division they were mostly below us. Their support was usually lower - as it is today. No I am sorry for long term fans Bournemouth are an after thought. The phrase "true fans" is insulting and meaningless.

Watching the away fixture, both goals were thanks to runs in behind from Gray. Think people overlook what he brought to the team when he was playing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Crystal Palace showing what can happen when you dare to actually play football against Liverpool instead of marvelling at what a wondrous team Klopp has assembled and feeling humbled to be sharing the same pitch as these sporting Gods. This Watford team makes me sick.
Pleased to see Hughes back in the starting line-up but a bit confused by that selection. Only one regular winger in midfield? Who’s going to play opposite Kiko?
First of all they are playing at home which does make quite a difference and they are now losing whereas in the same fixture we got a draw. Not sure what your point is?
Yeah we had pace through the middle and out wide at the start of the season. Now we tend to only have it on one flank at the most. Slow teams = stodgy football. Hopefully Hughes' speed of thought will compensate for the lack of actual pace in the team.
Interesting to see if Richarlison can play as an impact sub, bring him on 70 mins to score the winner
Exactly - Palace got ?? ZERO points - at home. Great result. Liverpool 68% possession; 16 attemot to 6 and 6 on target to 3. So much better than us.
Sorry, was my point not clear enough for you? Let me spell it out. This Watford team played the same Liverpool side as Crystal Palace just a couple of weeks ago, and hoofed and bottled their way to an utterly humiliating loss, the like of which can only properly described using graphic Sado-Masochistic sexual imagery that isn't (for obvious reasons) suitable for this forum. Which part of the country happens to host a football match does not determine whether or not a team is utterly petrified with fear. It just doesn't. Crystal Palace may have lost, but they put up a fight, and their supporters can point to the fact that Mane should have been sent off and be proud, instead of being ashamed to be associated with their club. Clear enough?
