I think that his behaviour following missing out on Everton shows blatant disloyalty from Silva and it manifested itself in a terrible run of results. Isn't odd at all.

A better comparison is that if the owners are comfortable tinning Joka, QSF and Wally when they got us comfortably to safety (or promoted) then they shouldn't begrudge Silva talking to a bigger club when they come calling. Loyalty works both ways.

Ian Wright has just suggested that had Silva said, look I'm really tempted, but remain 100% committed - could we review my situation at the end of the season if a big job comes up - they would probably have said yes. It's not like he is badly paid - now Silva will lose financially. Had he guided us to a top half finish he could have named his price next season.

Are the examples really the same though? Joka had a short term contract, which both sides fulfilled. Then the club thought it could do better as they were entitled to.

With the other two they are big boys who weren't delivering the results in the ultimate of results based business. Both QSF and Mazzari would have damaged their careers by staying and continuing to fail.

Wright had a big rant about him, saying that he's gone right down in his estimation and he may struggle to get jobs as he's untrustworthy. Said repeatedly that he's pleased he's been sacked and Watford were absolutely correct to say no to Everton.

  9. Turns out Silva and Carillo had made plans together to go to Goodison. he can just **** off right now.

  13. Absofukkinlutely. If we demand loyalty, don't get it plus the nob switches off, then who on earth would expect us to show loyalty back?

Well done Gino. Once again proving that no-one is bigger than the Club (except Gino).

If a club ends a contract early due to performance, etc, but pay a 2 year contract off in full after only 8 months, then I don't believe that is being disloyal.

The other point is that Joka wanted a new contract on vastly more money. Surely an employer is entitled to consider whether or not to accept the demand. And wasn't QSF on a 12 month contract in the first place (I'm not sure). Mazzarri was boasting how he could speak English, and couldn't, that would amount to serious lying on a CV in my book.

Are you suggesting the Watford board thought Walt spoke English? If they didn’t figure that out before offering the job then it’s on them.

QSF was on a 2 year deal with mutual break clause I think.

Whatever way you spin it the club have hardly earned the right to loyalty from managers (not that I expect it in modern times of course).

But then I don't care what you think (who the hell are you anyway), or JB, who liked your post.

But seeing as you bring it up, I was most vocal in the match thread in my praise for Deeney when he actually played well for 45 minutes a couple of games ago. You obviously are not such an expert on what I post as you think.

What I personally find boring is Deeney fans week in, week out, refusing to admit that he has been poor or defending him. They either know nothing or football or it is a clear case of his "legendary" status causing them delusions.

I am not spinning anything. I believe that loyalty means that you an employer should pay the full contract in most circumstances - that is what a contract in football is implying. It isn't saying that we will allow you to coach our team for the whole term, no matter what damage you are causing.

Late to this discussion, but if I got chatted up at a party by a girl who knew I was married, I'd have the balls to decline her approach, cos if Mrs Blah ever got to find out I didn't, and worse was stringing the girl along, she'd kick me hard in the aforementioned balls.

I'm not sure that his attitude was disloyal. More that his heart wasn't in it. He had only been in the job a few weeks before Everton started flashing their knickers at him, so he wouldn't have felt any emotional attachment to the club, which , while not excusing his loss of interest, might explain it , up to a point.
Given that clubs don't hesitate to give a manager the chop after a handful of poor results, I don't think it's a big deal for a manager to walk out after a short period of time if he gets a better offer. It's not a way of conducting oneself that I like or admire but - as we all know - normal rules of behaviour or codes of conduct that the rest of society tries to live by do not apply to football

Well, it's a football forum; you shouldn't be too surprised if some people on it are over-excitable and less than rational. Perhaps we should all just cheer in a measured way?

The funny this is, Mr Lineker was totally understanding of the decision Leicester made when they sacked Ranieri. This was a man that won them the Premier league the season before. He was equally understanding when Leicester sacked Shakespeare.

Didn't see any hostile tweets from these guys then.

You have to respect the way Gino conducts his business.

No messing around, get the new manager straight in the same day and let him have a full week with the players. Compare that to Everton who took 6 weeks to land one of the typecast English managers who drift from club to club turning everything they touch into sh*te.

I reckon we could sell out our allocation in the FA Cup now. New manager bounce, everyone interested in seeing what he has to offer and it will be a glorious day if we can secure a path into the next round in front of 4500 orns.

Michael Owen played for Liverpool so maybe he ought to remember the time when Rodgers was sacked despite almost leading them to the title and being in an ok position early in the next season and within days Klopp was appointed!

How can it be bad that clubs are organised and know who they want next?

    Surely its good business...

I just can't shake the feeling that we've gone back to Sannino-level management.

Quique, Silva, Zola and Mazzari actually won things. Jokanovic went unbeaten in...well the Thai league, but it's something.

Call it an unfair early write-off but I can't see the players suddenly feeling excited about this guy.

I'll take 4 lucky wins though.
