Intersting - not sure how Everton fans would feel.. Guessing they won't be offering 30 million ! http://www.espn.co.uk/football/socc...top-target-for-sam-allardyces-everton-sources
They stole our tune, they wanted our manager, now they want our captain. Even Goodison Park has the same amount of letters as Vicarage Road. Just f*** off Everton, you Watford wannabes, and get your own identity.
Usually Everton are linked with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo so there will be much scratching of heads on their forum.
Good move for him. A club willing to pay him a last big salary and pretty much guaranteed game time. He's suited to Allardyce but not Silva.
Probably the last chance to cash in on him as he is not going to get any better. Also the fee we command from Moshiri should include 'compensation' for trying to poach our under contract manager.
Speaking of poaching. The only possible source of info that Allardyce wants Deeney is Sam himself. If he intentionally leaked this doesn't it amount to "tapping up"?
Should sell, but we won't get rid of Deeney and Okaka in one window. Although he'll effectively be battling for a place on the bench in the second half of the season when Slimani joins.
Deeney has been, and still is, a great servant of this club, but maybe now is the time to cash in on him. Having said that, I would equally happy to see him stay.
Agree and agree with others that this is likely to be the last window where we are going to achieve a maximum sale value for him. His probably at his maximum playing level at the moment, but no longer scoring or getting into scoring positions. I would be gutted to see him go though.
The Toffees will face stiff competition from the Magpies because if you can get 4 and 20 of them , you can make a massive pie.
Not the time for him to go. Too important as symbol, leader and motivator. It's going to be our best season for years - he'd be better off going having been part of it...
Troy will only will be sold once Gino has tied up the loan move for Giroud (who needs games in the second half of the season).
In two minds, as we shouldn't be in danger of going down keeping him is no longer worth more (his goals keeping us up etc) than cashing in. He seems to be in steady decline and his value is unlikely to go up. Saying all that, Gray isn't as clinical and Okaka will surely be off. I guess it hinges on who we have lined up. I'd probably sell in the summer even if it's for slightly less than for what's on offer. Who knows he may hit a purple patch and go to the world cup
To fund Slimani? No. To fund some quality defenders and a future goalkeeper, absolutely. Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk
On Saturday Troy made one run in behind Spurs all game and it nearly lead to a chance had his cross to Gray been better. Gray does this constantly, especially away from home, which is why we score so many on the road. If we want to progress then we need more of that movement from Troy or an upgrade and as he's nearly 30 now then a younger upgrade would be preferable. Someone with Gray's pace and movement with Troy's strength all for under £10m would be great. Easy.
I don't think it would be a bad thing for all parties to cash on whatever we can still get and use that to subsidise a new striker, be it Slimani, Gabbiadini or someone else few of us have heard of. Plus it would be lovely for Walsall which is nice. I think it's possibly nice for Deeney to leave in his theoretical prime for a new challenge as opposed to running down what has been an amazing, dare I say it legendary, Watford career with reducing appearances and the odd penalty. I think a new challenge might do him good as he's not been the same since his first premier season.
I’d be worried about this. Yet another gone from the playoff team that beat Leicester. I mean has anyone ever considered we may have let Forestieri go too soon?
Interesting. I don't remember seeing anybody expressing that view on here before. Equally, I'm surprised that nobody has suggested that we re-sign Vydra.
