I have Kane but captained aguero at home v west ham. Feels like the better option unless Aguero is rotated.

Can’t believe I’m actually being one of these people - but if anyone has a spare or isn’t going tomorrow, can they message me on here? Got my dad over from Canada and desperately need another ticket. As per usual the ticket office are playing up and not letting me buy an extra ticket even though my booking history is immaculate!

I agree it is a big 'if', but there is a little bit of pressure on the spuds. Deep down they probably realise they are out of the title race. Their immediate rivals like Chelski are grinding out the results, Liverpool have their Mo and thanks to Deeney the Arse are rejuvenated. Add in Burnley who are solid as a rock and us - the pesky but inconsistent entertainers. Bear in mind even against Man U we had 59 per cent possession. They went two nil up with the wonder goals from Young so quick it set the course of the game. Although United were good once they got the lead, still think they are nowhere near Citee. We seem to be able to compete in most matches. We will need to play as well as we did at Chelski AND get some breaks but an entertaining draw is quite possible. See Allardyce has had a totally unwarranted pop at Silva. Great coming from the greediest manager in World football, with zero integrity. A few weeks ago he wanted an international job and was hugely dismissive of Everton's offer. Now he has agreed a contract whilst 'on holiday' in Dubai with Moshiri knowing the guy wanted Silva. In some ways it is all a big backhanded compliment to Silva. Nothing particularly against Everton, but I do hope the Allardyce and Moshiri marriage comes to a messy end as I will laugh my socks off.

It’s a bit sad (but understandable) how glum this thread is, ok we are going to loose (probably ) but that’s manu, Man City, Arsenal , Chelsea , Liverpool and Tottenham out of the way.

We ain’t going down, we ain’t going to win the prem , stick a bet on Tottenham to win that way whatever the outcome we will be happy.

what this thread needs is a drift where is the horticultural advise

They will be worrying more than us as the stakes are much higher for them - and they are on a poor run of form.

I think we will win this one. But we need to start well and get through to half time at least level.

On a side note, I see we are, yet again, the BBC R5 Live commentary today. I am not sure, but I believe that we have been chosen more often for live coverage than in previous seasons. No one was interested in us last year, or the year before, as our football was so drab. This year we look both good and we entertain. That is the way to build our club, build our fan base, so we can attract better players and coaches, establishing ourselves as a good top half side.

Watching us against Man United in midweek, we had something like 65% 2nd half possession as they filtered back as soon as we got the ball in the (looking more like a basketball team). That was a reflection of our attacking threat and that fear helped create a chance to win a point. That is the way to play football.

We are 8th, 4 points clear of 9th. It IS possible to play decent football and survive in this League.

We’ve got Burnley, Palarse, Hudds and Brighton after today.

Not impossible to notch at least eight points from those games.

One thing for sure is that Spuds will go after us quickly like they always do. It' whether we can match that first 20 that will make the difference.

Everything else being equal, yes. But it is relative, and Walter wouldn't recognise a really good player when he is under his nose.

Our best players cost relative peanuts. Manchester United's squad cost around £600m.

It is about having a positive attitude, and maintaining it throughout. Look what happened in that fateful 15 minutes on Tuesday. The team lost their positivity, and players like Doucoure looked like they had put their football boots on for the first time.

Look at Leicester, playing like champions because they wanted it and believe it one year, then next year, playing like idiots because they didnt want it any more -almost the same quality players, bar Kante.

We're going to get battered - a few moments of pure individual class from their front players that we have no hope of matching (because we have Gray up front and not Kane) will knock the stuffing out of us - we'll be half arsed about our game plan for the rest of the match and get torn to shreds.

We'll lose comfortably to Burnley as well, but then results will pick up again as we start playing the dross and pretend to be world beaters.

Indeed, thread drift is needed here. I’m currently interested to hear your food ideas. Favourite foods that you like to come home to after a dismal game on a cold Saturday afternoon. I’m just going into the garden to dig up some potato’s which I planted in a couple of pots back in August. I should have some nice small new potatoes to add to the lamb shanks which are going to be slowly cooking whilst I’m out this afternoon. Whatever the result, I’ll come home happy to this taste sensation and a nice big glass of red. Sounds like a script for and M&S advert doesn’t it?

Brussels sprouts are looking good despite the late sowing this year. Should be ready for Christmas. I’ll update on the Boxing Day match thread!

I can't see anything easy about any of those games. Obviously we have a good chance in each one, but easy? No.

Ah leave poor Walter alone. He's gone now. You know my thoughts on the subject, I think he wasn't given enough of a chance, but there you go. It's history now. I don't know whether there was some personal problem between Wally and Doucoure, but it would appear there certainly is between Silva and Okaka. Who knows, maybe if big Stef had had his chance instead of persisting with the misfiring Gray, we'd have had 9 more points or so on the board and be pushing fourth like Burnley.

I'm not sure that the players failure in state of mind was responsible for our defeat on Tuesday either. I would say it was rather more to do with the tactical decision of Mourinho to match our system and go one on one with our players in the belief that theirs were better. And they were. Not so surprising, they cost a lot more and get paid a lot more.

Believing that Watford players could have won simply by sorting out their mental state, or by force of will, and that by implication, they were entirely to blame for their own downfall, says something about the destructive and counter-productive mindset of British management. Blame storming. Who's going to carry the can for this one, eh?

The boys tried their best, made a half-decent game of it, but it went to form in the end. The overwhelming favourite of the bookmakers won. Nobody's to blame.

I didnt suggest any of that. I was just pointing out how a change of mindset changed Doucoure from a good looking player to a poor looking player in just 15 minutes. Those temporary glitches can happen at any time, I was not saying our "mental state" caused our loss, or that we would have won if it had been better.

And I certainly do not blame our loss on anything or anyone. The first two goals from Young were just about unstoppable and Martials resulted from a ring rusty CB lunging in.

But what I am saying is that attitude will make up for a lot when considering what sort of team we can have. Just because someone gets paid more, or costs more, does not mean they will outperform others. There are probably hundreds if not thousands or millions of examples of that.
