Why are we persevering with Silva. His record at WFc is poor

We need a change sooner rather than later if want to salvage season

    I fancy fat sam.

Who do others want to replace Marco

There is this bloke called Walter Mazzarri who is not currently at a club (not sure why) who has a good CV - managed Napoli and Inter). I wouldn't mind giving him a look in instead of this Portuguese, Hull reject who has a 0% win ratio with us...

I really this quote attributed to Silva from the ever reliable Mercury:

"For us to fight and really be a team, we need to stay together and fight. If we need to go to war, we need to go together."

I love the fighting talk and hopefully spirt.

    Come on.

One language, English. Apparently says our Marco.

I'm not normally keen on anything bordering jingoism. But in the context of last season and the attempt to foster team spirit and facilitate strong communication I welcome the approach in the mighty WFC squad.

It's just so refreshing to have a manager who does not hide behind the dug out having a quick drag! Sure Silva has a large vocabulary of football clichés and stock phrases as the best of 'em but at least we can forge some sort of relationship which is a mighty relief. COYHS

Lets face it, the Watford changing room is one of the few places left on the earth where they dont speak English.

I'm very much liking what Silva is saying and doing so far. Football's actually a very simple game, and should be treated as such, not over-complicated simply to create an air of mystique or snobbery. Attack when you have the ball, defemd when you don't. Score more goals than the other team. And regarding the supporters, be open and honest with them. Don't treat them as fools. Communicate well with them and you're half way there. An impressive start.

As long as he comes over and waves at us at the end of the game, shows pashun and has a catchy song I'm happy.

You're right. I wasn't able to edit it after someone liked the post. Tbh I can't even recall making the post so I'm surprised there aren't more spirting references given the state I was probably in.

If you mean because of Pochettino- he isn't from Portugal.

Sorry if you are talking about somebody else...

You'll never catch me paying to read their rubbish.

But to answer the question: Only if a big six or major European club come calling even then I can see a couple of them getting knocked back.

The key to this is not the club but working for an owner that already knows exactly what you need and how to get it must be a big pull

If we don't do well , no one will be after him.

If we do well (i.e. Top8) then he'll probably only leave for a top 7 club. Utd , City , Spurs and Chelsea won't be recruiting a new manager for a while. Liverpool love Klopp so even if they have a bad season he'll get another chance. That leaves Everton and Arsenal .

If Koeman has a terrible season then I could defo see Silva going there . Arsenal is a strange one, usually I'd say they would only go for a big name manager but perhaps Pochetinos brilliant resurrection of Spurs may make them rethink that approach.

However I find it strange that the article suggests he may leave in January. I really can't see that happening . If we are doing really well, he'll want to stay till summer to see it through and maiximise his potential. If we are not doing well , no one will want to poach him.

I would hope there's a bit of will on both sides to break the one season cycle. Both of us could do with 2 years of continuity now.

I've always wondered whether part of the Pozzo model of bringing in relatively "unknown" players, "developing" them and flogging them also applied to managers...

In my defence I did qualify it with "relatively" - not disrespect to the Tigers but they aren't exactly a big name team.

True but he finished 3rd with Sporting and won the league with Olympiacos before that and was in the Champions League with both.

We'll fall away massively after Christmas, player disharmony will boil over and his departure will be announced the before the last game of the season.

You're all happy clappy fools for thinking this is any different to the norm.

Correct. only 4 or possibly 8 letters.

Interestingly the only team in the football league who's name entirely consists of letters without closed loops that can't be filled in with a pencil.

Interesting alternative perspective there (is Lawrence Ostlere is a Watford fan?) - complete contrast in viewpoint to most of the fans during and after the game who thought that we won despite and not because of the change.

I'm sort of in between - clearly we only regained our impetus after Pereyra came on, and I don't know how much if any part the formation played in that.

  33. To be fair, it was reasonable to assume that Swansea would up their attacking ante after half time. Which they did. Who knows how it would have panned out if we had kept our first half formation?

I don't know whether or not he's a Watford fan, but I too thought it was an interesting interpretation of Saturday's events.

I guess Silva would have been expecting Swansea to change something, and he & his coaching team would have considered various options (e.g if they play 2 up-top we'll bring on another defender). I don't know when he would have been notified about their change to enable him to neutralise that (or whether he gambled that they would make the change sometime in the second half and that he was going to have pre-empted it).

Pereyra added something, but I thought he tired quickly .........

I dont really see how pre-empting the oppositions tactics is a good idea. Why not make the change once he's seen whether or not they had made their change?

He could have made the sub and tactical adjustment 5 seconds after the 2nd half kicked off, after telling the players what he was considering at half time. What was gained by guessing?
