Howe's press conference is hilarious. Never heard such nonsense in my life, a part from when Merse predicts our results. Just pathetic excuses, we weren't at our best, we were too slow, we gave the ball away etc. No Mr. Eddie, Watford's tactics nullified everything you threw at us. You didn't give the ball away, we made you give the ball away with our energy and pressing. You weren't too slow, we were just too quick. You were at your best, we were and are just better. Just be honest Mr.Eddie, you will feel a lot better, rather than burdening the lie you spouted, which you can't honestly believe.
Wow I think the whole team looked good , even think Amrabat was alright(ish) but Richarlison and Chalobah were superb (apart from Richarlison rolling around on the floor holding his face) both showed they had quality in abundance and once the team really start gelling we should be a force. All this and it wasn't even our strongest side I will also be honest I like Ake though he was quality - shame we didn't get him to come back to us.
My 2 cents.. - Doucoure excellent again. Ran that midfield. Teams will be sniffing around him come January, and we'll be fending off bids left right and centre next summer if he continues like this. - Very impressed with Richarlison. Early days, but he looks like he has the physique and determination to make it in the Premier League. Lovely feet too. I think he will be a real handful this season. - Amrabat tried hard today, and you definitely cannot fault his workrate. However, his lack of end product and poor decision making mean that he is the weak point when attacking. Should be 2nd choice. - Disappointed that Success has not featured at all this season. I don't blame Long John Silva in the slightest - he's the one who sees the players in training, and he knows who is and isn't deserving of a place in the squad. Questions must be asked of Success if he is unable to force Amrabat out of the starting XI. - Chalobah slightly off the pace today. Looked a bit sloppy in possession to me, but he will definitely come good and is certainly one to watch this season. Very nice pass though through to Gray though, for our firs goal. That aside, it does seem that Arter might have shouted at Chalobah which distracted him when the ball was squared across. Would be surprised though if Arter gets punished at all though. Don't think there's enough in it myself. - Gray was decent. Didn't get much in the way of service, but has pace and will definitely come good for us IMO. Should have done better with Richarlison's pass though. In terms of our options upfront, with Okaka playing so well last weekend, I'm not sure where this leave Deeney.. - Ake outstanding. Always thought he was a good buy by Bournemouth, and for the majority of the game he was almost a one man defence for Bournemouth. Was all over the back line. As someone else on here said, if Bournemouth were to go down in the future, we should consider a cheeky bid for him. - Thought that Long John Silva set us up really well today. He clearly did his homework on Bournemouth, and was obviously very clear to the team as to what he wanted them to do. Communication skills? 20/20. Already, after 2 games he's done a better job than Alec Baldwin did the whole of last season. I think this bodes very well for Long John Silva, and shows Alec up to be what he was - a dinosaur stuck in the past. - Bournemouth were poor. Much of that was down to us, but they rarely threatened all game. Their problems I think were not upfront, as they have quality and strength in depth (King, Defoe and Afobe all very good players). Their midfield gave them no service though. Investment is needed by Bournemouth in the centre of the park before the window slams shut. - Fair play to Merson for giving us real praise today. I wonder if Garth Crooks will do the same. Doubt it. - Watford fans excellent today. Well done.
Oh give it a rest will you. From what you've said, his post-match conference was no different to that of any other opposition manager. If he said that Bournemouth weren't good enough, well he was right. They weren't, and much improvement is needed on their end of things.
It's amazing how much better our defence looks with a decent midfield in front of it. Femenía looks like a very good signing.
If we were using the traffic light system, before the season I'd have it as: Liverpool Bournemouth Brighton Southampton Manchester City So we've got 3 more points than I expected us to have. Expect us to beat Brighton to be honest, 7 from a possible 9 will be a very nice start.
you can only ever be happy with 3 points away from home. Thought we battled well and had flashes of quality about our play. Richarlison looked dangerous, Amrabat had some decent moments and Cleverley worked so hard to close their back line down and stop them from getting the ball forward early. Play like that then we are going to do OK this year as well as it being more enjoyable
Sorry Eddie, I didn't know you were a member of this forum. Glad you saw my post though. Seriously though, cut the excuses out and just admit Watford done you good and proper.
I am from Porto . Portugal is a very good country to take a vacation. Algarve is expensive, but is awesome...
Pack it in you melt, and try to enjoy the victory without moaning and complaining about the opposition. Happy Saturday
I LOVE Porto! One of my favourite European cities. So beautiful, great food and wine, and everyone there was so polite as well. The good manners made a lovely change from Spain!!
No-one was moaning I was simply pointing out that his press conference was pathetic. Sort of like you calling me a melt. You really are Eddie Howe. I am and I will continue to do so. Thank you Eddie.
I mentioned in the pre-match chat that I watched Bournemouth against the Baggies last weekend and I thought Howe did not have a plan B and I think he shown that again today.
Interesting to note that Bournemouth are a team that have been 5 years in the making , Silva has had 6 weeks. Very impressive to get his ideas over so quickly. Furthermore , of the 10 outfield starters today only 4 of them ( Holebas, Prodl, Britos, Amrabat) have played more than 6 months in a Watford shirt . So we ar very much at the start of something here. Peryera in for Cleverley, Carrillo for Amrabat, and possible signings for improvement at LB and CB means we were a way off our potential best XI today .
What a win from the boys! Still think Bournemouth will have a good season so this is an exceptional 3 points in my view.
I have got a Gaelic football final in the morning so staying in tonight, sent the misses down the local European shop to get some Portuguese beers in for MOTD. (Nothing like beating your rivals)
Porto, Watford never invaded If we ignore one extra terrestrial species Bonus points if you can name them
Very good performance and win. We look so much more fit and focused than under Mazzarri and our football is a joy to behold in comparison. Thought almost everyone did well with Richarlison standing out as our best player on the day - he has immense potential. Amrabat was awful again, but that goes without saying at this point, and Gray didn't look quite up to speed but I think he'll prove to be a very good signing in the long run. This could be a very enjoyable season.
Oh also today summed up exactly why I and a lot of others cannot f**king stand Bournemouth. Dirty, cynical, cheating, diving, whining t*ssers. The call for Chalobah to leave the ball and the trip on Gray when we were on the break were both a disgrace.
Just watched the match after recording it, Absolutely thrilled 3 points away from home 3rd in the league, out played all over the park. Muff seriously lack any creation but Deco and Calobah played very well together again. Gomes looked much more the better Gomes off his line faster and good use of possession. Front 4 was very exciting Amrabat better but I hope this Corrillo guy comes in or Success sorts his act out. Richard Allison will just get better and better once Deeney pulls him aside for the rolling about. Hope Gray gets off the mark this week before the international break. Kiko looked good going forward. Good performance all round wanted it all more than muff. Happy Saturday everyone COYH and don't get to upset when the media don't praise us and make it out the media darlings muff and Eddie wow are that just slow out the blocks and it was another off day for them. Silva and Watford deserve the praise from a good team performance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Liverpool home and Bournemouth away first two games see's us 3rd in the table. Get the **** out of here.
Amribatt , gave Chalobah a great scoring chance from a cross , see his end product isn't always bad . This comes from an official game report.
just got home pretty good all round display apart from Amrabat who needs to start tracking back better Richarlison looks like he could be something special Grey ran his socks off the whole match but did fluff his big chance.. we made Muff look very poor first decent away trip since the Arsenal back in feb
Yes, the defence was sore put-upon last season. It certainly helps them if the rest of the team are better. I would include a better attack as well.
Remember Cook also trying to score with his hand when we played them last season. I know they probably think we are obsessed, but no team we've played in the PL consistently commits these petty, cynical acts.
This is true and is true of a few times last season when I recall other players did not take advantage of some excellent deliveries by The Bat. However, "his end product isnt always bad" is not really a great testimony to a winger which is why he is The Weakest Link. I think WFC know this hence the pursuit of the Peruvian bloke.
Pretty much everything has been covered by you all so not a lot more to add but here goes anyway... Of all our new signings - the best one so far (imo) is the manager. I don't want to get carried away after two games (and of course we're going to lose at some point) - but even the most useless at reading the game cannot fail to see that in the short time he's been here, Silva has improved us all over the pitch. He clearly has a game plan to suit the opposition, and he's getting the performances out of the players to carry out what he wants. Britos - lets not forget he made a fantastic block about 6/7 mins in that would have almost certainly been a goal (after the ball appeared to hit Gomes in the eye). If we'd have gone a goal down, who knows how it would have played out (although I thought we were so superior today that I'd have still fancied us to win). Not trying to annoy people here - but thought Amrabat had a decent game. Put in a few good crosses - one with his left - and did a lot of hard work. If we're going to crucify him for the bits he got wrong, then remember that Gray missed from 5 yards and Chalobah missed a one-on-one. Surely today we can just all agree we were magnificent throughout the team? If not for some low-life cheating by Arter, he'd have an assist to his name and Chalobah would have had a deserved goal. Speaking of which - I thought that bit of cheating really revealed the true underbelly to the Bournemouth myth of being the darlings of football. But as Hornetgags has pointed out - I wasn't fussed when Thomas did it against the scum 20 years ago. Therefore, although it royally pissed me off - hopefully Arter has revealed to everyone the lengths he and muff will go to to gain an advantage. Capoue proved what we all know - he has quality. I hope we keep him - surely competition for places is better than money in the bank? Of course this depends on whether or not he's happy to not always be starting. Deeney - don't write him off yet. He's risen to every challenge at this club so far, and I expect him to rise to this one. He'll be chomping at the bit to be a part of this team, and it's a long season so we'll need variety in our forward play. Our manager clearly sets us up depending on who we're playing - and I've no doubt at some point we'll need Troy. Merson - Yeah he's a moron and he says stupid stuff. But having now seen the clips of his reassessment after 20 mins regarding his prediction, and his praise at full time admitting he's wrong (which in theory can only be proved at the end of the season) - then fair play for saying so as I'm not sure all the pundits would do. Of course when we do get walloped he'll likely change again, so probably best we take all his words - good and bad - with a pinch of salt (as I'm sure most of you do). Overall - great team display all over the pitch, thoroughly enjoyable and roll on Tuesday (but be prepared for MOTD to counter how impressive we were with muff being dreadful and not themselves).
The difference is the manager. He is awesome. English speaking Tactical and strategic Analyses opponents, adapts strategy and tactics in play. Motivates Organises 10/10 so far
If you can get the best out of hull you can do much more with a worldwide scouting network and a mid table team ( which we are) I am hoping for greatness
We are better than muff who are 7-8th from Bottom and equal to Liverpool. No reason we can't be 5th or 6th. No reason
