Of course but we will never know that. So going off of what we do know with him in their squad, that was the impact that he had.

Of course I agree with you in the sense that another player in his place could have scored those goals or scored ones he missed. However I doubt the likes of Vokes with his pace, would have been able to do what's Gray did for most of them.

Not sure if this has already been posted but just noticed the word Gay in his surname. Based on that, I don't think we should sign him.

If capoue plays, I'd see him playing at DM, cos if he plays any further forward he's guaranteed to not track back. Doucoure is better getting forward than he is defensively. I think Chalobah will blossom this season and will surprised even us, who think highly of him. Chalobah will win player of the season, calling it now.

There were lots of things I wanted to see in this window but near the top of my list was that we finally bought players other clubs didn't really want to lose. Players that were still getting in the team where they were and weren't being offloaded and unwanted like we do most summers.

Femenia, Hughes, Richarlison and Gray all played regularly - Chalobah less so but he was still wanted by Chelsea, shown by him being offered a new deal.

Only Bachmann was out of favour but he was never in favour and is only likely to be 3rd choice anyway.

I accept any signings now (Gibbs/Lennon/Young) may well be looking for more regular football but I'm still glad we have flexed our muscles somewhat and look to be finally accepted as a PL team rather than a hunting ground for out of work footballers.

The beauty is Richarlison should be more or less match fit. I reckon he will at least come off the bench in the first two or three matches. Good thing about Gray is that he can play in a one or a two with Deeney or Okaka. If we surround him with the likes of Zarate; Richarlison; Pereyra or even Success there are various mixtures of pace and/ or trickery. The likes of Hughes, Doucoure and Chalobah can also thread a pass in behind or down the channels. Remember we might still get Lennon or Ashley increasing options still further. Jaanmat or Feminia and Holebas support the attack from the flanks or behind a winger. All this gives Silva plenty of attacking combinations. It's funny how one or two class players can increase the creative possibilities even if we suffer some injuries. This was in contrast to last year when we were often one-dimensional. It could take time for all this to gel but we should all be more confident compared to three days ago. If we land Gray I think the business done has been exceptional this summer. Gino is the master sorcerer and Silva is his gifted apprentice!

We sign one out of favour relegation rival ex-scummer striker and this has gone from a **** preseason to a good one.

I'd stop short of saying exceptional if we don't sign a defender of some sort.

    I disagree to a point.
When Ardiles was their boss they were down to 11,000 at St James' Park. Admittedly in later years they have maintained a vast support but only Man City can boast 30,000 plus when in League 1 I would argue.
Don't give a fig where they finish as long as it's below us!

We just need a solid ball playing CB and some competition for Holebas (preferably Gibbs)

Record fee? I'm surprised by that, but I highly doubt it's the £18m that the Daily Fail quoted. Much more like £14/15m, with a couple of million of that figure in add ons.

Either way though, good signing and HG as well! Well done, Gino!

He's finally reached the heights they always dreamed he would. Must be a very emotional day up in Luton today.

Is this the first thread on here which started with an HITC article that actually ended in a signing?

But they bought £50million worth i believe. But it was £50million worth of championship players.

I've just been sick in my mouth. A public exorcism on the pitch at the Vic is required before we even think about letting him near a yellow shirt.

Can't help but feel the club could have done an unveiling on twitter to tie in with his dubious social media activity.

Dancing in a Watford kit to 'It's Raining Men' on the multicoloured disco dance floor at Reflex on the High Street would've sufficed.

    Missed opportunity.

Think we might have to give him a wash in sheep dip and several shots of penicillin before we let him in the ground, if he hasn't picked up bad germs from Luton then after several nights out in MK he will be riddled.

Honestly not sure how I feel about this signing....don't feel like he lit up the Prem at Burnley and for a club record is he much better than what we have? Good to see us adding some depth to the squad though and hope he proves me wrong and scores a shedload

Our squad is coming together very nicely indeed. Another homegrown. Doesn't matter about his past. Welcome aboard Andre.
