Yes of course but that isn't my point. When they're upfield there should always cover behind and if any catching out is to be done then it always hinges on the back three and DM.
And the extra defender seems to be lacking pace if you read this article. http://www.wdsport.co.uk/2016/08/five-talking-points-from-watfords-draw-with-lorient/
I think we know that although this was a preseason with a recently changed formation. By Saturday I expect Shane Long to get little change out of them.
Pretty sure the idea of the system to 3-5-2 is that when we are attacking the wing backs push forward to give options in the wider areas then when we are defending it pretty much turns into 5-3-2. If you look at QPR and Llorient game they picked passes through the defence easily because the wing backs had pushed up so high that the back 3 had too much ground to cover
I'm struggling to see what the formation will be this year. 3-5-2 and Sinclair and Success will struggle to get a game as they're not strikers or wingbacks. 4-3-3 and TD plays right wing, which would be a real waste. 4-4-2 looks best to me but seems to be the only system not being considered.
Sinclair and Success can both play as striker Walter also likes to switch to 3-4-3 at teams, so both will get opportunities either side of a central striker
One of my friends who works in part with the Norwegian football team told me we were interested in signing Odegaard on loan from Madrid! He's never provided me with any other Watford related info like this before so will be interesting to see. Interestingly, yesterday I was reading that Zidane wants him to go out on loan to get some game time, so could be a possibility, although I imagine bigger clubs would be after him?
Apparently West Ham are after him, but with the amount of attacking mids they have it seems a bit pointless.
