And that may just be the key to the season. Joka's tinkering with both personel and formations may have made us a little erratic from a performance perspective but it have also made us very unpredictable to the opposition and, with the Saturday/Tuesday run, a little fresher I suspect. How much have other teams recent hiccups been down to players getting a little jaded with the shear amount of football being played?

Our record against the top 8 has been very poor yet we still may go up automatically. We are clearly significantly better than a majority of teams in this division despite chopping and changing. The teams at the top have settled into a pattern which, when things are going well, is great but when things take a turn isn't always easy to sort.

I'd suggest we do not necessarily need to beat Derby or Middlesborough and the likes but to avoid defeat. We are joint 4th at the moment despite beating no one in the top 8 (Brentford aside). Flat track bullies? Sure. But we are easily the best bullies in the division and that may be enough to take us up. That and at least trying to sort out the defence!

Derby have two of their strikers injured, Bent and Martin. They're apparently scrambling to get cover in. That's only good for us.

Bent isn't expected back for about a month, so with luck he won't be fit for our game against them.

Or they rush him back unfit for the game against us and Joel Ekstrand steps up to the plate

Look at Stockport's home v away record.................. Home lost 1 away lost 13! What's all that about?

What a fall from grace for Stockport. From challenging to gain promotion to the Premier League to being part time in the Conference North.

Yes amazing in 17 seasons only 1 team (Sunderland) are in a higher division and 2 teams (Stockport) have tumbled 4 divisions and Sheff United 1 division with the other 7 teams from that top 9 still in the same division and most fighting for promotion this year

It's closer than it's ever been.

Norwich win the league for me, looking at the fixture lists. I don't even know where they came from but the look clinical and lethal.

If you look at the last 10 game Norwich and us have the best form , I think us and Norwich for 1st and 2nd but could easily be down to goal difference for the 2nd spot or even the first.

    Boro's next game is Forest
    Derby play Birmingham
    We play Wolves
    Bournemouth play Fulham
    Norwich play Wigan
    Brentford play Ipswich
    Ipswich play Leeds
    Wolves play us

That is everyone's next match, few tough ones there including ours.

If we beat Wolves we will be 11 points ahead of them and a goal difference of 25+ better so would be unlikely we finish 8th or below in that case..

They've kept most of the team & squad that were in the Prem, unlike most that get relegated. All they needed was a half decent manager

    Goals really do count

Three goal GD separates top 5 teams so, this season more than any other I can remember every single goal conceded or scored could be critical.

Our season will be decided within a 3 game spell, Ipswich, Derby and Boro.

I think if we pick up a minimum of 5 points from those 3 games then we will go up automatically. Anything less is the playoffs

Interesting how, having had a nose at the rival's forums, there is one common theme...they all think they've blown it with one exception....Norwich fans

I also find it amazing how we are hardly mentioned as automatic contenders by anybody with one exception...Norwich fans

I also find it amazing that the bookies have us down for fifth place. A £100 bet would return £53 on Norwich but £162.50 on us

What about the games before that. These 3 games are completely irrelevant. We don't win any of the next 3 it will be play offs, in fact we should look no further than Wolves
